  1. I have been experimenting with a 16* hybrid (ping g5). I hit it as far as a 15* g5 3 wood. I sold the 3 wood. Today I compared it to a 13* taylormade spoon. It went as far or a few yards short. I do not see any reason to carry a fairway wood and the extra club allows me another wedge. The shorter shaft is kind of weird but a 16* hybrid hits a big shot with much more control.
  2. I was out hitting some balls for the first time this year. I was hitting a 15* ping g5 3 wood with a stiff shaft. I was also hitting a ping g5 16* hybrid also with a stiff shaft. The hybrid was going as far as the 3 wood. What's up with that? Why would you need to carry both? Would appreciate any insight...confused. Thanks, Randy
  3. Jack was great but Tiger's in another league, he dominates the game and has no competition. It was Jack vs. Arnie, Jack vs. Lee Trevino, Jack vs. Tom Watson. Tiger blows away everybody. He should break all records. He will probably win a grand slam in the next 5 years.
  4. If you can't get the club back to square with the stiff you'll hit everything right. I played regular shafts last year and did balloon shots to the right or pulled way left. I went back to stiff shafts this year. If you're border line you may want to stay with regular.
  5. I can't imagine the situation that you would need to hit a 64* wedge. I have good luck opening the face of a 60 and cutting across it when I need that type of shot. There are only so many wedges you can carry. What's the max yardage on a 64? 30 yards. Seems like a wasted club.
  6. e-bay worked for me. I sold my clubs (all separate sales)...and then bought new and used for my new set. Very pleased, you can get some good deals and it's fun.
  7. I use a 16* ping g5 hybrid in place of a 2 iron. I still carry a 3 wood. I thougt the *16 hybrid was compared to a 5 wood / 2iron?
  8. First day of Spring and we're still skiing here. I'll play in a month when I go to Florida.
  9. how do you add what's in your bag? I'm trying to find the link to do this.
  10. I live in new hampshire and playing in the cold is the worst conditions i've played. you get down in the 30 degree range and it's nasty. Hitting an iron makes your hands want to fall off. balls bounce off the greens / can't find the ball in the leaves. what a game. you gotta love it!
  11. I like to play titleist pro v1 or callaway tour hx56. I buy alot of stuff on e-bay and find some good deals on golf balls.
  12. 30 and 50 yard pitch shots can be played with the same club. I would suggest a sand wedge over a lob wedge. I would play the ball close to the left foot (assuming you're right handed). Try bending your knees. Practice will give you a feel for distance. Obviously the length of the backswing will determine the distance. The sand wedge is easier to hit than the lob wedge.
