  1. Great work Bill. Keep it up. This thread is one I keep looking back at to see how nicely swings can progress. I love the changes you have made since your earlier videos!
  2. I understand that limiting blowup holes is the quickest way to lower scores in theory...I just can't convince myself on the course to punch out / lay up / aim away from the pin, etc etc. the lure of the perfect shot gets me every time....
  3. Thank you for the tips! I've been working on my takeaway since you posted. I'm still not 100% sure that I'm getting it, but at least I have something to work on. I'm hoping to get a camera set up so I can tape some swings and measure my progress. I will post some when I think I've got some improvement to show! Thanks again!
  4. I've been Playing Golf for: Seriously for about 8 years My current handicap index or average score is: 13 My typical ball flight is: Draw The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Straight Push and Pull Draw. I can’t seem to get my draws to start to the right or my fades to start to the left. I was going to wait to shoot some better videos, but I want to get started on working on my swing during the offseason, so for now here are 1 swing with a 6 iron and one with the driver. A little background - I fought a slice for a long time and used to swing with uneven shoulders and dip my head way down in my backswing. This led me to a more rounded swing trying to keep my shoulders flat and my head still. I realize I am way across the line at the top of my swing, but I'm not sure exactly what causes it. Any advice, drills, or tips on my swing would be greatly appreciated! Videos:
  5. 2015 goals: 1) stay healthy: keep my rotator cuff from acting up again. I'll continue to do exercises and build strength in the surrounding muscles to do so 2) make a swing thread so I can get some solid feedback and begin to work on specific things. I've spent too much time on the range just hitting balls ( I'd actually like to do this before the end of 2014 if I can get some decent videos shot) 3) get comfortable working the ball both ways. I'll do this with lots of work on the range 4) get more confident out of green side bunkers. Again lots of practice time to accomplish this one 5) lower my handicap back near 10. Items 1-4 should get me here! After missing hakf of last season with my injury I already can't wait for winter to end....:-O
  6. Thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to checking out those threads.
  7. Will definitely do that! I checked out your swing thread. Great looking swing and I can see you put a ton of time in at the Rutgers and Hyatt ranges! I have a feeling next year you'll see some big scoring improvements my friend....
  8. Haha! That's funny...I live in Westfield so Hyatt Hills is the next town over and the course I play 2nd most. I'm getting my Masters at Rutgers right now, so that is my #1 course that I play right now (gotta take advantage of the $15 greens fee while I still can!) I'm sure we've crossed paths somewhere along the way!
  9. Thanks! What courses do you typically play?
  10. Got out for 9 holes on Sunday but tomorrow calls for 4-8" here in NJ. Looks like the end of the season for me, but at least I have a nice new indoor driving range set up in the garage to look forward to!
  11. I own a company in the music industry, but I'm in the middle of making a career change. I'm currently getting my masters in Social Work.
  12. I've been a lurker for a while, but finally decided it is time to get involved on the boards. I've been playing golf for about 10 years, but only about 5 or 6 seriously. I was playing a low as a 10 a few Summers ago and have spent the last few years trying to get back there. I changed clubs from game improvement to blades and starting working on shaping my shots and saw my scores and my handicap steadily climb. I know shaping shots is essential, but it really did a number on my scores for a couple years. Currently, I typically shoot in the mid to high 80s. I have a hole in one on a 95 yard par 3 (does that count??), and I am hopelessly addicted to this game. This past year I tore my rotator cuff and had to take 3 months off swinging to rest and do physical therapy (luckily no surgery as of yet). I picked up clubs again in September and have been playing better and better and am back down to a 12 or 13 handicap. Unfortunately, winter is now here and even though I got out for 9 holes on Sunday I am already in withdrawal. I have learned to hit a draw pretty consistently, but my misses are usually a push that doesn't come back or a draw that starts left. I can't stand the way my swing looks on video, and I think I know the causes, but I'm afraid to make major changes and have to face another couple years of struggling. I'm not sure if I should stick with the swing that works halfway decent for me or try to overhaul it. I will get around to posting a swing thread soon to get some feedback, but I just wanted to introduce myself! Looking forward to meeting lots of fellow golf obsessed people! Dan
