  1. Ive changed my swing in the past season and started off this season fresh with some Cobra Amp Cell irons that are stiff shaft. Hard to hit at first but now im finally finding a consistent strike with each iron and the distances are starting to lock in. My shots are still pretty high, even for a 4i, I feel my shots should be lower, but that's something I also have to go to the range to work on. So lets see each shot im playing a slight draw, haven't really found the good method for shaping a shot, but im aiming mostly for the center of the greens from 140 yards back at least. But now all of a sudden I am snap hooking my hybrid off the tee, or anywhere in fact. That is also my only club that has a regular flex shaft. I got the hybrid on sale, maybe time to upgrade it. Low shot and a snap-hook and im thinking its mostly due to the shaft. But I also tend to snap hook my 3 wood as well ever now and then, still not sure why problems like these occur on a random day but that's golf. Im thinking the sometimes thinned shots, and low shots are also caused by my follow-through after striking the ball. Maybe to much backwards movement with my body after my shot. Either way its something I have to experiment with.
  2. I was at the range last week during work while pros were there practicing before they tee off. Effortlessly they were hitting the 170 yrd green, only big difference is I noticed there ball flight is a lot lower. Im guessing its an 8i or 7i, but it just seems so much lower than average. I also noticed this at a pga event, the ball flight only going maybe 40 to 50 feet in there air on longer shots when an average guy hits em maybe 100 feet high. Explain.
  3. It wasn't so much manipulating my wrists to fix my slice, it was actually start a whole new swing from scratch. Turning the wrists over should be the better terminology to use. So ball was always up front in my set up, now its always in the center working up. I started over on my take-away and swing bringing it inside to out rather than outside to in, which it one of the main causes of a slice, as well as not turning over your wrists at all... These two mistakes will cause slices all day with every club no doubt about it. The problem is once you get used to something it becomes repetitive, turning over my wrists now feels natural and I do it without thinking I make a move to do so, so I might be hooking now. The other problem is that its still early in the season, at least for me and I know my game changes from week to week, welcome to golf we all try to get more consistent, but most pros even struggle with this sometimes. I was just trying to figure out if its something simple as moving my ball forward in my stance a little our something else.
  4. I made several adjustments to my swing ending last year where I keep my arms straight with my irons and do the 3/4 back swing with my arms making the 90 degree angle to my shaft at the top of my swing. With this swing I am more consistent with distance and my ball flight throughout all of my clubs. Ball is center for the most part because that it where I made the best contact striking the ball first. With this swing to I feel when I drop my arms hitting down on the ball and I have been hitting the ball much more cleaner. But in my last couple of rounds I seem to be leaning back on my actual swing, and my balls are feeling like they are being hit thin going 90% of the distance normal. If I follow through and end it nicely, my ball seems to snap hook. Ive only stared a year ago concentrating on hitting draws and moving my wrists through the ball to fix my slicing issue I had for several years. Any advice from other players? Getting down into the single digit handicap seems only right around the corner and I am looking forward to my progress!
  5. First post on here in a few years so here it goes! Last year's season started off with good playing, but ball was always forward in my iron play, my swing was outside to inside and my drives rarely sliced less than 30 yards... Bought myself a membership and got to work at the range over the summer... Started from scratch and redid my whole swing to move more inside to outside and start turning over my wrists more, which meant more distance and a draw that I could control. Ball moved to the middle of my stance and contact would follow and the swing became awesome. Driver confidence was up along with 3W and 3H. Hitting all my irons perfect and wedges were good too. Backswing was good, I moved it more towards a 3/4 swing for more consistency and did not see any change in yardage. I am also currently working on the pinky overlap instead of my old style base-ball grip. My irons were Old (90's maybe?) Taylormades, and I got this awesome deal from a golfer I used to do side jobs for. A set of Cobra Amp Cells PW-4i, 2013's, for $100 and working for him, he would pay off the rest. They have only been played twice, the second time I played them to try them out. I played them for my last round this previous season and I could not hit them.... It was also going from a reg. shaft to stiff shafts, but all my other clubs are stiff and I have the swing speed for them... When the shots got into the air, everything was shanking from my shaft, maybe because it was cold? But I played well with my irons just weeks prior to testing these. The only reason I want to say it was my swing is because I could barely get my hybrid shots off the ground, you know your going to have a bad day. The other day I took out my new 8i, went to hit a few shots and sure enough shanking them... Im going to the range later this week to keep trying them out, im just hoping I didn't make a mistake with the irons, even though I could still trade them for something else as well. I just felt awkward hitting the shots, I even tried moving back a little and then it seemed as if I was looking up pulling my swing up. Doesn't make sense to me.. or maybe im over thinking it?
  6. Finally got back on the Forum! I havent been on since last summer and I've had such amazing experiences over the fall playing Varsity Golf for High School. The places and courses I played was amazing, not to mention I shot my lowest score my last match! After work at my club I golfed all weekend and spent 4 days on the course and one on the range during the week! It was a seven day a week deal and I loved every moment of it! Its an awsome feeling crushing your 3-wood further then their driver and getting a birdie when then double bogey! Crowd around the 18th and sinking long putts in front of the crowd! Glad to be back! Glad for spring! -Cheers!
  7. Hello, a project about snow at home for my Engineering Class requires that i need to have at least 100 responses filled out. The survey is all about making snow, its an easy 9 question link that shouldnt take more than a couple minutes to fill out. I know a lot of you dont really like snow, but its a process I need to do for my course and I need your help! Please take the time because 100 responses seems like far away, but not if I have your guys help! -Thanks! http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?s..._2bFzDhg_3d_3d
  8. Try both and see what works. Ive noticed that the hybrids are a lot easier to hit from the fairways and you got a lot more control
  9. Its now coming all together! Ive been having simliar problems and I think its because my arms are to infront of the ball.. so maybe swing more or less like a driver with less steep of an angle. Dont swing any harder then you would a 9i or 7i.. My biggest problem is when staying on the same "path" on my downsing as in my takeaway.. things dont sync. up
  10. Probably like many other sports.. the sponsers send them out, actually a good question.. who does the shirt Barclay or Callaway for instance?
  11. I can see if he didnt buy everyone in the room beer, but to get up and leave and not get himself another one or his buddy.. plus not finishing a round..
  12. Having the same problems! My driver has just been so inconsistant.. and you can tell on my score too! I think im swinging to hard and not using my body as a coil!
  13. Its funny when a ball goes right towards a set of trees and somehow doesnt hit anything and lands far on the other side!
  14. My backs been really sore lately! I swing to hard for my shaft stiffness.
  15. Ok medium, heavy rough with a 60 degree wedge. The greens are fast and yes i've been using Titleist Pro V balls. I havent been opening up the face unless its a really good lie and thanks for the help with aiming left when doing so. New wedges are coming soon and for now I only have a 60 and a 54. When hitting 1/4 shots I notice when the ball goes in the air, it almost has no spin, maybe a little back but it hits the green and runs. I got some practice to do and thank god my putting game has been on lately to fix these little mistakes!
