  1. Fun game! I enjoyed the variations of the different boards and the intro is hilarious!
  2. Love the intro. Downloaded it right away. Looking forward to it filling my daily train time.

  4. That about sums it up. I can't speak to how many R11/Burner 2's they sold last night. I saw maybe 2 go out the door. I know that there were other unhappy customers in the crowd and that by the time I demoed the club the place had cleared out considerably (in 25 minutes).
  5. I participated in the GG R11 Debut last night. I thought I would take a minute just to detail my experience. I have attended GG promotional nights like this one in the past. They have always had nice incentives (prizes and food) and have always been reasonably well attended. A golf buddy of mine and I decided to make our way out last night and grabbed a beer at a local pub before heading to the store. We arrived at 11:30 to find three or four guys waiting at the front door. We walked up and another dozen guys emerged from their cars. As we waited we learned that ALL of the $50 gift cards were already handed out. Puzzled I asked why that was and at exactly what time that occurred. Apparently there was a line that formed just after 10PM. The sales team inside decided to hand out the cards at that time which dispersed the crowd. Now I am not going to say that I wasn't enticed to show up at midnight by the possibility of receiving free money but I also didn't expect it either (based on the time we showed up). With that said I wouldn't do it again knowing that the giveaways could be gone well before the posted times. Why didn't they just give them away at 8PM? I think if your willing to wait in line you should have to wait until the doors open at midnight or there should be some other way to distribute the prizes via a random raffle or something. From a business standpoint the store would benefit as more people would attend knowing they have the chance at a prize and knowing they don't have to waste their valuable time and freeze their butt off waiting outside just to learn that the prizes were given out hours beforehand. Enough of that nonsense. The club was awesome. I didn't purchase one (yet) as I only got a few swings before allowing the next person in line a turn. I found the pro inside who manned the launch monitor to be knowledgeable and he shared a lot of info on the adjust-ability aspects of the club. It is certainly one of the best if not the best as far as dialing in your best possible fit. Aesthetically it looked better in person than I initially thought. The white paint has a nice matte finish that seems odd but is quite inviting. I might have ommitted the graphics on the crown however. Performance wise, I was given a stiff which probably doesn't fit my swing profile. I did hit several balls with decent distance with a nice fade biased trajectory. I can't wait to hit it again with a little more time to play around with it and the correct shaft flex.
  6. Not married yet but girlfriend has gotten me the following over the last few years: Ping Hoofer vantage bag - In exactly the collors I wanted! Oddessey 2-Ball SRT Buschnell Pinseeker 1500 w/slope - which btw she says she knew WAY more about than any of the sales staff at Golfsmith....I guess I trained her well..ha Hopefully this trend will continue
  7. Thanks Allin! I think I am going to take my hybrids to a clubfitter and see what they think. Hopefully he will be able to shed more light on the subject. I am really not looking for more distance so much as I am looking for consistant yardage gaps. I also feel like they will be a little more accurate and easier to hit. If anyone else has any experience with this I would love to hear more. Seth
  8. I recently read an article by Tom Wishon regarding hybrids. The article made me think about the two Callaway Heavenwoods that are sitting in my closet because I can't seem to pure them the way I'd like. I have been forced to leave them out of the bag and have relied on a Adams I-Wood instead. I did a quick search and this was the closest thread I could find regarding my question. Keep in mind all my clubs are outfitted with Uniflex Steel shafts. After reading the article I inspected my 2H and 3H against my normal 3 iron and found that the 2H (17*) was an inch longer than the 3 iron (38.5") and the 3H (20*) was half an inch longer than the same 3 iron. Mr. Wishon suggested that the hybrids should maintain the same length as the irons that they replace. The Adams club comes in at 38.5 inches (which is why I think I feel more comfortable with it) but the problem is its the same loft as my 4 iron so it becomes a little redundant. So my question is are most of you in line with Wishon's suggestion and playing hybrids that are the same length as the irons they replace or are you playing stock versions that may be longer? Should I have my Heavenwodds fit and cut down or learn to hit them the way they are? Thanks in advance for your help, Seth
  9. I was in MB February of 2006. I believe it was the 12-14th. We experienced very mixed weather. Like you said the highs are forecasted in the low 60's for that time period. We had 2 absolutely gorgeous days (highs in the mid 60's) sandwiched around one miserable one. We wore shorts for those 2 nice days but could not put on enough layers to keep warm the other. It started with a frost delay that pushed our tee time from 8:30AM to well past 10AM. Once we got out it didn't seem to bad. The first 3 holes (at Oyster Bay) are sheltered by trees. After that it got brutal. Most of the holes are lined by the bays and the winds off the water were cold and unrelenting. It was a beautiful course but in that weather was just awful. I was told by locals that the weather is usually like that "if its cold today,it most likely won't be tomorrow' That stood true for our trip.I would say your good for golf but the beach is pretty much out of the question. Have fun!
  10. Great topic! I was also wondering about this swing training aid. I had a chance last week to hit the driver. It felt great particularly when I switched over to my driver after a few shots. The only unfortunate thing is that I demoed it at an indoor hitting cage. It is hard to say where the ball was going on any of the shots. I would really like to test it out outdoors. Any more first hand reviews would be helpful. Thanks!
  11. Thanks for all the excellent input. Part of what my clubfitter metioned when he had me hit my own clubs was that I slouched too much during my swing. He really wanted me to have a straighter posture with less bend at the knees and more bend at the waist. So my issue may just be dealing with that change and how these clubs were made. I have been hitting them very solid as of late. Perhaps the drill metioned above and some time with a pro can eleviate my mental and physical quirk. I appreciate your time and input. Seth
  12. Hi, I recently was custom fit by a local golf shop for a set of Ping Rapture irons. According to the results I was given a set of Orange Dots (2* flat). Doing further research I see that the color chart should put me in the Red Dots (1* flat)....and doing further digging I see that Ping's online fit is the same putting me in Red. After using these clubs for quite a few rounds and lots of practice I have noticed a few things.... 1. I need to stand further away from the ball to avoid shanking it off the hosel right. I do get decent accuracy and distance with this set up but it is admitedly uncomfortable. 2. Even though I am standing quite a distance away from the ball at address I see that the ball marks on the club face are in the lower right hand corner of the grooves. (while looking at the face towards the right bottom at the hosel) This is consistant across the whole set. So I guess my question for the group is are the clubs too flat? Or is there something I am missing. I realize that I am not good enough to repeat my swing all the time but this just seems odd to me that the ball marks on the grooves are consistantly in the same place. Any ideas or comments are appreciated. Seth
  13. Very interesting stories guys, keep them coming. I have two...well one on a real course. Back in 1995, I hit SW from 110 yards to hole out for a one. The green was slightly elevated so I never saw it roll in. I was a senior in High School so I was to young to buy my playing partner a drink. haha The other was on a Pitch and Putt course at night. It was 74 yards again with a wedge. The pin was located in the back of the green and the shadows of the lighting didn't allow me to see it roll in. I got a free round for that one though. Seth
  14. Thanks again for all the great advice. I leave on Saturday. I am planning on playing Balboa on Sunday, Torrey Pines on Monday, Carlton Oaks on Tuesday, and then Catalina (9 holes) on Thursday. Just a couple of quick questions before I leave: It sounds like tee times are not required at any of these courses if I am a single. Should I just show up early and check in with the starter to see when I can get out? Is this common practice? What will it cost on a weekday at Torrey Pines with morning rate? ($130) I am somwhat confused by these booking fees and non resident pricing. Can anyone shed some light on this? Any comments about the 9 holer on Catalina? Many thanks! Seth
