  1. Hole 6, Par 3: Hit my tee shot just shy of the green. Left it about 30 ft to the pin. Grab a wedge to get up and down. I end up with a miss hit, it goes thin, but ends up going right INTO the cup, no bounces. My partner about died. Walking away in disbelief, I realized a grabbed my 52 and not my 60!
  2. I had two pretty great (for me) shots this morning on my 9 holes before work. I have been struggling to get my driver both "far" and "straight" and today I managed to get it together for one shot on a 350yd par 4 and managed to leave myself with a small wedge shot to the green. I dont have a GPS but judging by the course markers I think I got it for about 270yds! The very next hole I managed to knock one in with a lob wedge from some serious rough up to the green to a hidden cup. I chipped it up, knew it was close and didnt find it in the cup until after I had given up searching on the backside on the green thinking it had rolled too far. Not too bad for a quick 9 holes after about 7 weeks from picking up the game! I'm excited to get out there tomorrow!
  3. I'm right there in a similar boat, only one thing that has helped cure the iron shots was the fact that I noticed I was "looking" up as I hit the the ball. Lessons are obviously a great answer but also try and keep your head down and avoid moving to see where the ball is going so suddenly.
  4. Great advice. Thank you! I have been focusing on my grip at address recently, and have been "trying" to get a nice and easy swing going. Some days it comes together better than others. I'll hit one perfect 3 iron shot that I won't see again for days. Haha.
  5. So, in order to recap ( just so I think I understand it better ) I should be playing my long irons as if they were up where I'd play my fairway woods? Or thereabouts?
  6. Thanks! Gives me something to do while I wait out the rain we've been having.
  7. When you say "delofting" and "coming in too steep", are you saying that my clubface is too open, or hands are too far ahead of the head? (causing low loft?) I do generally play the ball about 1-balls distance up in my stance for longer irons. I will try the low-slow backswing also! Thanks for the speedy replies.
  8. This is slightly offtopic, but what is the name of the book you are referring to?
  9. I would imagine as many have said that it depends on the ground and length of tee you have buried. I had one a few days ago pop up spin and land upright about 4 feet in front of me! I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me!
  10. I am new to golf and am having the same trouble when I get into the 5-3 irons. I was wondering if you could elaborate a little more on how to execute a better long iron shot. My short irons and wedges are coming along great but I seem to hit my longer irons either a bit fat, or when I do get a pretty good strike they dont get much loft or are very erratic. Any advice would be tons of help.
  11. I usually hear the hiss from the ball only from my 3-5w when I really connect well with them. I think I've heard an iron or two also, but much much less frequently. Just my 2 cents from a month of playing =)
