  1. Consistent with others from your location. You read parts of my post, and ignored others. You decided I was a liar and also name called. I stated facts, have accepted that I waited to send the range finder in too late, and believe that there is a defect in that product that deserves some level of review. In fact, there are forums suggesting that in the past Leupold has supported their products well after warranty. This is all after the fact for me. You continue to call people liars anonymously, snowflake. I get you. You are the warranty police, you neither speak for Leupold or against. And you got an upgrade at a good price. Good for you. I hope you feel better just to pontificate on how you know warranties and how you signed on to the defective product upgrade thing. I know I do.
  2. Ahhh SoCal, right. Calling people liars, expecting that people just accept they were ripped off, thanks for the input. Helpful, NOT. I did not buy their cheapest offering. I did not do math on upgrading my defect. Why not just buy the 3x? But thanks for whatever point you were trying to make except for calling someone you have never net a liar. Tells me a lot about you and makes whatever you say next worthless.
  3. "Dude" c'mon. How many electronic products are out there with a 1 or 2 year warranty? Philips, Sony, Mitsubishi, need I go on? Your avatar does not make you a Consumer Products guru, more certainly, you do not have an electrical engineer degree. What is your real problem? No product is sold to be defective 1.25 times the warranty. If they were, why pay a premium for the product. Is it foreign to you that I bought at the high end of the available range expecting that a company with their warranty and commitment to quality might, just might, want to support that commitment? I cannot believe you are calling me a liar, I know for certain you do not do that to your clients / students. You are not helping, you are certainly not respectful, and your rants are missing the point, Please stop.
  4. You call it a lie, I stated the product was defective at purchase. Are you a shill for Leupold? How do you have the right to call me a liar for the experience I have gone through??? Please unsubscribe, or at least no longer reply to my post. You are less than helpful.
  5. Yeah, great that you teach young people. And great that your experience is better than mine. I guess that the last time you bought an expensive product, lets say a high end TV, with a 2 year limited warranty, you were "educated" enough to expect and be happy if it crapped out in 30 months? Whatever you are teaching, and maybe you are so lucky to never have had to pay for a defective product, but I am happy you have it all figured out and had no bad experience. I just hope you never pay a lot of money for something and have it die right after a warranty that is not clear on the site suddenly expires. I know I am not the majority, but I also know others have this experience. Thanks for the learning lesson on buying crap products. You teach real well.
  6. I appreciate the feedback. And you are right, the technology must be improving. I am old school, the thought of being asked to pay more when the policy is stated as repair or replace just makes me want to do business elsewhere. Possibly frying pan to the fire! I will work my dying 3i as long as I can and then look elsewhere, hoping the next company supports their products better. I guess my real frustration is that it was likely a lemon, one of a very few, I sent it back, they know it, and refused to honor their word. There are a lot of happy customers out there. But I am not alone. Luck of the draw.
  7. Fair questions. I guess you routinely pay top dollar ($450 in my case) for the use of a product with a website promising a "lifetime warranty" and then think 2.5 years is a lifetime? Yeah, buyer beware, I get that. If it was 5 years, I would not be on here. You missed the obvious option, but I think on purpose. I can buy 5 $80 range finders that last a lot longer, do the same thing, and be about 20 years ahead of buying a name brand, and still get the same yardage. I did not know you could own golfers. Maybe you sell them to "your" golfers and do not want the truth out? I can only think Leupold sold out to private equity or passed on to their children and the business model has changed from quality to quantity. I am glad you have had great experiences and your golfers too. Some companies back their products, this one at this time chooses to use the letter of their warranty. I thank you for your experience and opinion. It does not change that I own a $450 slowly dying piece of junk. I just want others to be be aware.
  8. The fading was gradual, it started out fine with a new battery. Replacing the battery (same type) made no difference. I sent it back to Leupold, and have to assume if it was a battery issue, they would have told me. They sent it back as it was.
  9. FYI...I have a 2 1/2 year old 3xi. The display is fading, I cannot see half of the battery indicator, and the hundred yard digit is out. I sent it back assuming it was under warranty, and it turns out electronics only have a 2 year warranty, which is apparently a firm 730 days. They provided no details on why the display was fading, would not acknowledge others having the same problem, and were evasive when I asked if they could repair it. Their solution was for me to buy another one at a discount, which to me is upselling at best, and bait and switch at worst. You cannot reply or contact my email, they only want to talk on the phone, makes it harder to document the poor service received and uncaring tone about the expensive POS I purchased. Hopefully if you buy one you will have a better experience.
  10. If you are looking at Leupold, beware! My 2 1/2 year old 3xi display is fading. Only half of the battery display is visible, and the hundred yard digit is completely gone. Their "lifetime" warranty excepts electronics. Electronics are only good for 2 years. They will make you call them - long hold times - to discuss options. My option was to buy a new one at a discount. So I asked if the electronics are any better on a new one and the response was to buy it and find out! I will be getting another laser range finder, but not a Leupold.
  11. I have a similar problem with my 2 1/2 year old 3xi. I shipped it back to Leupold, and turns out the electronics are only warrantied for 2 years. They wanted to sell me another one at a discount, but would not honor the warranty because it was over 2 years. That part is buried in parentheses in their "statement" about supporting their products for a lifetime. All in all, I paid for a premium product that is barely working. If you buy Leupold, I hope you have better luck, but if that display starts fading, don't wait to return it!
