  1. This is not true in my honest opinion. There is always a step better with the game we are so lucky to play. The best players in the world are better at maximizing scoring opportunities and looking past their mistakes. Albeit, their mistakes might cost them less strokes, they still make them.
  2. I think the OP said a mouthful with This is the reason your not getting there and possibly missing some scoring oppurtunities on greens. It is important to trust your game and take it one shot at a time. Trust me once you hit that first ball out of bounds you are not all of a sudden a worse golfer than you were before you hit it OB. You have to trust the swing that got you that far and make some putts. It will happen just dont let those bad shots tear you away from a good score. In many cases you can look back and say well I shot a 77 today but i blew that drive OB right on hole 12 which led to a double bogey then my swing went downhill from there. My question to you is why not trust the first 44 swings you made. Why does that one mishap have to be in your mind when you step up to your next shot. Next time you play keep all those shots in mind.
  3. Yardages to the center of the green are standard.
  4. Bunkerputt, I have not played disc golf live but i am addicted to it on the Wii. That game is so much fun.
  5. GIR certainly improve the scoring but it all comes down to making the putts. Sometimes when i am on the course i get too complacent with par. Thinking, "oh, im on the green easy two putt par." It is important to focus on every stroke one makes. Hopefully I can apply the same mentality on the course as when i reflect on past rounds. That is much more difficult said than done. Applying yourself mentally to every shot absolutely wares a person out at the end of a day.
  6. Grats, there are not many better feelings than that of your golf game improving. Unlike other sports it is very gratifying knowing it was all on you. Once again congratulations.
  7. Yeah, it was the most enjoyable round i have had so the beers were on me when we went to eat.
  8. Had an 8:00 tee time saturday with an old high school buddy. We played a 36 hole match on saturday and it went very well. Golf course First 18- Started off with 8 pars in a row only missed one green, then I didnt get up and down on 9 for par. The back 9 was the same story except 2 bogeys and 1 birdie for a +2 72. I was striking the ball very well, hit 14 greens but I couldnt make any putts. I won the match 2up Last 18- Made the turn -1 and then went on a birdie run from 11-15 making 5 straight birdies one was a 2 putt birdie from 7ft. Won the match on 14 but had to continue since i had never been this deep. I blew a drive through the fairway on 16 it hit the path and went OB. I reloaded with a 3wood piped it, made double and went on to shoot -4 66. My first time under par since coming back and it felt so good being that deep. I really feel as if it is coming together now. I just need to find some events to play in and continue to work on my putting. I hit 15 GIR on my final round and really felt as if i left a lot of putts on the course. Anywho, I was really excited and had to share.
  9. I really think Soup has the right idea and the majority of you are twisting around what he is saying. I think that by confronting rules officials you are making it his word against yours and who is to say you are right. It is just creating a problem and most times they will just keep his score and at the end of the day you have just blown it into a bigger problem. Confronting the individual is the best way to handle the situation in my opinion.
  10. I have recently came back to the game after a 3 year hiatus and I have put up some of the best numbers of my life. However, I feel some of the same old problems leaking back into my game. Im looking for any help here be it mental or work ethic. Let me break down two rounds of golf for you and you may have a better understanding of my game and my mentality. Round 1 . Front 9- 4 bogeys, 3 birdies, +1 Back 9- 1 Bogey, 2 birdies -1 When I was on the course I really felt like I was on the verge of losing it the entire time. I always felt like I would start blocking them out or my classic snap hook at any time. However, when I look back at the round I struck the ball extremely well. Round 2 Front 9- 1 Bogey, 2 Birdies, -1 Back 9- 1 Double, 1 Triple, 3 Birdies +1 This round I really thought my swing was where it needed to be. I came out without any worries and just swung the golf club. I was dead on however After 3 straight birdies on the back 9 my mind slipped and bam here comes the snap hook and the block out which lead to my blown holes. I suppose I am looking for a little advice here. I always feel like I could lose it at any moment. Is it something that anyone else has experienced? I really could throw up some great numbers. My short game is excellent but i just can't trust my Driver. Any advice would be great thanks.
  11. I have always been a firm believer that you have to be able to trust your swing when your on the golf course and work on it on the range. Swing thoughts can really throw a person into a worst situation than they were previously in. The best thing for myself is to think tempo. I find that i score better when I am thinking tempo and can restrain those extra thoughts from coming into my head. I would like to see what some better players think about this topic.
  12. I believe that the quality of practice facilities are a fair indication of the quality of the course. That being said, I enjoy playing a larger variance of courses so you will definitely catch me at some without a driving range. I don't like to set a line there because it is like saying I won't play at xx course because it doesn't cost enough money to get on. Seems a bit ridiculous but to each there own. Regarding warming up, if you are just going to swing at the ball and not really work to get better when your at the range, it will do you no better than to just stand on the tee box and take 50 swings before teeing it up.
