  1. According to USGA Decision 20-4/2 there would be no penalty for the caddy toss drop, the putter juggle is more questionably. The "happy gilmore" would definitely result in a penalty as a stroke was made. It would seem that this would also violate Rule 7.2 about no practice strokes during the play of a hole.
  2. I've never even hit a hybrid. I know people say they are easy to hit, but to me they look more difficult to hit than either an Iron or a Wood...
  3. That does sound steep, my league plays nine and we get a cart to go with that $20. Of course Northern California is more expensive than the the midwest. If you are planning to do it regularly maybe you could work out a non-membership deal with them...
  4. It really depends on the course, but there are several in my area that weekday non-twilight hours would be $13-15 for 9. Weekends are always more (~+$5) and evenings cheaper (~-$3). What was the price you were dismayed at?
  5. I've not played Rosewood ( http://www.rosewoodgolfcourse.com/ - their official site). But my dad lives near http://www.peninsulagolf.com/ , so I play there when I visit. Pretty open course, but has some crazy sloped holes. Also http://www.highpointgolfclubky.com/ is nice, but their website is under construction. In Northern KY we used to play http://www.kentoncounty.org/county_d.../golf_courses/ quite a bit (we use to live very close to it. Fox Run is a beautiful challenging course. I assume you've played Lakeside and Tates Creek there in Lexington too. Those are both fairly decent if memory serves correctly. Happy Hunting!
  6. Laying up is fine, but sometimes you've gotta push the envelope of your comfort zone to get better, especially as a young/new player. As you develop in golf you want to gain confidence in all of your shots, so you gotta be willing to hang it out there every once in a while. Heck, look at what Tiger did on Sunday at the Buick Open. He tried to put a very challenging fade on the green and ended up slicing it into the pond. But being Tiger he was still able to save the par!
  7. I thought it was interesting when I started reading the thread, but then, the more post I read it seemed that I 'd read almost this exact thing for the other major sports. And I do think it belittles the achievements that the women have made. It's still pretty hard for women to get on their tour, but we make it sound simple for a man. Ok, I'm off my soap box. Didn't want to bash the thread, just wanted to add a dimension to the discussion.
  8. As men, why do we feel the need to be better than women all the time? When it comes to sport there is not much doubt that men generally have an advantage over women, i.e. the best men are better than the best women. OK everyone agrees. So why do we need to come and say that "well even the pretty good men are better than best women?" Even if it is true, does it really matter. There is an LPGA for a reason, because the generalizations hold true, and a large group of women (i.e. more than a handful) who want to play competative golf they really can't keep up in PGA. But these women are the best women in the sport, why do we need to take away from that by saying that its still not as good as the top male amateurs? It's like saying the best of men's college basketball could beat teams in the WNBA. It may be true, but what does it prove? Nothing. Isn't this just another Billie Jean King vs Bobby Riggs discussion? what did that prove, other than that Bobby Riggs was a blow-hard sexist pig?
  9. Toss up, it'd be interesting to see them playing in prime shape together. I wonder if you took away alot of the technical advances made recently how similar Tiger would be to Jack's play in the day?
  10. Not really my home course, but the one I'm playing league at this year: www.autumnridgegc.com
  11. Optical Engineer - Satellite imagers, spectroscopy, lasers. Mostly working behind a desk though :(
