  1. Flushed my hybrid 210 yards to within 18 inches on a long par three yesterday. Turned out to be the shot of the day. Gotta love a tap-in birdie!
  2. Do they provide any lateral support whatsoever? I like flip-flops and sandals for casual wear but golf shoes actually add stability to your swing. Especially with funky side hill lies. So why bother with the spikes in sandals? If you want to play in sandals just go for it. I might consider a few evening casual holes with them... or maybe even full-on barefoot! Saw the Reef men's Spackler Golf sandals at Genesis Surf Shop. They look cool but I can't imagine swinging with any power while wearing them.
  3. I use the traditional method... that is, I record the actual number I scored. I've also been known to count puts and note those very small in a corner of the box. And then there's the complication of dots games. Those need to be recorded. And other side bets... closest to hole on par threes, sandies etc. The card can get a bit messy and if you don't have a solid marking style you can end up with a load of unintelligible hieroglyphics. I have a golfing buddy who loves to manage all the games and bets on his scorecard. And we usually have a bunch. The card is filled with symbols, numbers, dots and circles. Only he knows how to tally these strange and peculiar ciphers. There have been a couple of occasions where his complex markings have sparked some heated comment exchanges between friends.
  4. Seems there should be a temperature factor in here somewhere. Here in the midwest where we're experiencing 95-100 degree afternoons, I would guess we burn more than 1,000 calories walking 18 holes. And what about a hilly course that requires lots of uphill climbs? I would also imagine an overweight golfer would burn more calories than a fit one. But then a typical wide-body would most likely ride anyway. Needs a cupholder for the beer!
  5. I can't believe people like this exist. It's one thing to see loads of unrepaired ballmarks on some greens... primarily muni courses. But to intentionally damage greens is a real shame. It's time these boneheads take up another sport. Maybe dumpster diving from rooftops!
