  1. Thanks 748. Much appreciated. What was he thinking???????? I hope he has learnt his lesson.
  2. Yes, that was a slam no matter what anyone says. But I would have liked him to do it by the naysayers standard too this year. He just came up short due to poor putting. 80/83 is not going to win you majors. I still hope he will be able to accomplish it in the future. Annika still has her opportunity, which I hope that she grabs, because like you I appreciate what it takes to be dominant.
  3. So what do you say to him being penalized for an incident at Wachovia? He had carded a 69 to finish in a tie for ninth, but was penalised two shots by rules officials who determined that he should not have moved a fence next to the 10th fairway, that was damaged when the gallery joined in to help. At the Open the officials did look at the incident, concluding that it was out of character, not done to gain an advantage, and therefore they did not penalise him (the incident could have warranted disqualification).
  4. Tiger marking the 9th green at the Open this year would be appreciated.
  5. I'm going with Tiger. I want him to do the slam and shut all his doubters up. I would really like him to break Nicholas record too.
  6. He played well, I agree, holing out some amazing putts. But that is easier to do when the guys chasing are not putting pressure on you. That's what I meant by handing it to him.
  7. I really think it is all down to mentality. Many see the hazards, trees, water and traps. Very few see their shot where they really would like to see it. It makes a big difference.
  8. The progress is good. Very good. I was in contention at our monthly society outing, scoring 33 points, and would have won it but for the poor course management on some holes and poor alignment. Came in with 20 points on the front 9 and 13 on the back which was disappointing (5 pars, 1 birdie). I struck the ball very well, remembering the buzz word 'tempo for contact' and was only let down by poor alignment. Can't believe I palyed 3 par 3's badly and only scored 1 point. My distance with all my clubs was good. I had opportunities to shoot birdie on many more holes. Really looking forward to the next day out, which is in two weeks time.
  9. Sergio didn't win this tournament, those guys all handed it to him on a plate. I was pissed off by that, especially with Els. It would have been exciting to see if he could have held out if someone had put pressure on him.
  10. I too would fire my caddy!!!!!!! What a choker. That's why I like Tiger. He plays golf for moments like this, hones his skills just in case he ever needed to play a particular shot, and never chokes when the moment arrives. You got to give him credit for that. Fortune favours the brave.
  11. Mentally, she seems a prety tough cookie. And the challenge will only serve to strengthen that. I have one problem with many of the men who veiw this as a job and not sport. To hell with guys who are trying to make a living out of playing golf. This is the reason why they keep bringing in sub-par score. We want to see competition. She seems up for it. So kudos to her for accepting the challenge. There is just too much money in sport and it is only bringing down standards.
  12. I know I'm late on this topic, but I couldn't resist adding my two cents worth. Personally, I have no joy watching some of the 'hackers' that qualify for the mens tournament. They should be embarrassed with some of the scores they bring in. The association should address this matter before it turns many off golf. So if I had the powers to change golf I would bring it all under one umbrella where men and women could compete. If women qualify, well and good. From my own short experience playing golf, I started to be competitive with lower handicapp players only because I added distance to my game. Wie is long off the tees than many of the men so she stands a good chance of beating many of them. Annika would definitely grab every opportunity to compete with the men if she was long off the tees.
  13. Thanks for the reply. Much appreciated. I have taught myself everything I know about the game and quite proud of it. I'm pretty much clued into what the science of golf is all about and know that with the hours put in my handicapp will come down. This sounds like pretty much what I would buy into from the video analysis point of veiw. The only problem is that with one's swing evolving it could be a pretty expensive experience. So I'm looking for an inexpensive aid that will develop my game. Have you heard of The Swing Plane Stick?
  14. When I'm putting I say 'one thousand and one' to get my putting tempo no matter how long or short the putt is. I hardly ever 3 putt. Before hitting my irons and driver I always envision where on the fairway I am going to put it. Whenever I have a fear of OOO's or swimming, that is exactly where I put. So pre-shot thoughts are important and can affect your result.
  15. Is there anyone on the forum that is a member of Modelgolf.com? I have read through the site and it all seems pretty impressive to me. I would like a first hand account of it though before I actually sign up.
