golf seasons right around the corner and its time to get a new driver... i have a taylormade r7 425 10.5 REAX stiff.. i hit the ball way to high with his club because of the loft of the head along with the weakness of the shaft. my swingspeed is right around 105 MPH.
im looking to buy a titleist d2 with a 9.5 loft as i like the way the ball feels when hit with it.. what would be your suggestion for a shaft? im thinking i need a shaft with a high kickpoint and a stiff tip. anything? thanks alot in advance!

This is where it can get tricky. I suggest going to a fitter that has a launch monitor where you can hit the different shafts. Since the USGA is now allowing interchangable shaft systems they are starting to become more common. Doing this will help define which shaft you load better (for energy transfer) and which ones give you the best dynamic ball characteristics (launch angle, spin, etc.) Once you figure this out you can go crazy with options. Without direction and feedback you might not get the best for your swing and with the $$$ these days you want the best for you.

Doug,

Any fitter worth his salt will be able to give you various shafts to try. Tell him exactly how you want to play, how you want to work the ball and what your goals are. He'll then give you a shaft that works for you. At the same time, get fitted for a ball that works with your driver and new shaft. If you are near NYC, you might want to try the World of Golf near Wall Street or take a look at Max Out Golf. They are all over the US and you might find one near you.
