Hello,

This is my first post on the forum. Hope you can help me with some questions.

I got a full bag fitting done about a month ago and this is what I got prescripted for Driver, Fairway, and Hybrid:

- SIM 2 Driver 9.0 w/ Aldila NV 65-X
- SIM 2 Titanium TI Fairway 19.5 w/ Aldila NV 75-S
- SIM 2 Rescue Hybrid w/ Fujikura Ventus Blue 7

I have two questions for you.

1) I've since saved some extra money and have been thinking of upgrading the shafts for the driver and fairway to the Aldila NV 2KXV Series but I'm torned between the Blue and the Green ones. My options would be these:

Driver: Aldila NV 2KXV Blue 60-X
Fairway: Aldila NV 2KXV Blue 70-S

or

Driver: Aldila NV 2KXV Green 65-X
Fairway: Aldila NV 2KXV Green 75-S

2) After doing some research I've read that the shaft for the hybrid should be 10-15g heavier than the Fairway wood. In my case they are the same weight (75g). Is that bad, would you change the hybrid shaft for something heavier? Maybe one of the 2KXV Hybrid Shafts, these range between 85-90g?

I'm asking these questions because there might still be a chance for me to change my order since I haven't received it yet.

Thanks for your help.

When you did your fitting did you hit the NV 2KXV Series shafts? If so, were they better performing than the NV 65-X and NV 75-S shafts you placed the order for?

IMO you'd most likely be better off using the money you want to spend on the upgraded shafts towards lesson(s) especially since the NV 65-X and NV 75-S were obviously a good enough fit for you and the fitter to agree on placing the order with them.

Also how much is the price difference per shaft to go up to the NV 2KXV shafts? We talking $10 per shaft or $100 per shaft?

My answer to this is pretty much the same as it was for the driver/FW question. Did you hit a heavier shaft in the hybrid fitting process? If so, did it perform better?

If you didnt hit the heavier shaft I wouldnt recommend switching to it, especially since you and the fitter likely agreed that the Ventus Blue 7 was at least an adequate enough shaft for you during the fitting.

If you were happy with the results that you were seeing in the fitting, I would leave your order as is and look to spend the extra money you have saved on something else. Maybe lesson(s), new wedge(s), balls, etc.

    • Day 18: 2026.01.20 Continuing work on arm raise during backswing. Starting to feel less weird, especially the slower I go. Looking like a busy week so might be the weekend before I can hit some balls.
    • It’s possible the graphite shaft has a small internal crack or a delamination. Tapping it and hearing a vibrating sound is usually a sign the shaft isn’t behaving as it should. Since the store wasn’t helpful, consider taking it to a club fitter or a pro shop that can check the shaft flex and integrity. If it’s defective, you might be able to get a replacement from the manufacturer.
    • It’s interesting how much a 3D system changes your understanding. Observing top players in full detail and realizing the trail knee shouldn’t fully extend is a great example of why being open to new info is so important. I like your approach: not trying to be “right,” but trying to teach correctly based on actual evidence. Makes sense why golfers would benefit from this perspective.
    • I would say both are equally not the best for golf. Is it better than nothing, sure.  Golf is an athletic motion. Professional golfers are doing a comprehensive workout routine focusing on strength, power, flexibility, stability. They might include some yoga into the routine. I would put both of them in the recovery bin, not golf enhancement bin.  If you want to increase swing speed, core strength, longevity in golf and life, then lift heavy weights.
