First off I'ma noobie to golf but really have the golf fever. I've been practicing alot @ the range and have a big 10'x8' golf net in my backyard. I have taken a lesson & have been really working alot on my swing. There are days when I am really making good contact with the ball & some days I feel as though I completely lost swing all together.

I mostly have only been working w/ my irons & occasioanlly I will try and hit a driving iron just o mix it up and get used to hitting off a tee. But like I said maily iron work about 85% of the time.

I cant tell if I'm doing something different in my set up or what the deal is. When some days I can it the ball striaght with decent loft & my swing feels sweet. And days like today after leaving the range & felt completely outa rhythem, slicing, topping, pulling, wiffing. Maybe I practice too much about 4 days a week, i dont know. I do try to do all the basics, swing easy, keep my head down, a little spine tilt & slighly bend the knees. Maybe my adress is incosistent which is making me insconsistent..Any tips to stay more consistent with my swing..Thanks

Your a beginner. Everything about your swing is bound to be a little inconsistent now and then. Even my swing is inconsistent every once in a while. Thats golf. Keep taking lessons and dont forget to work on your short game. You will get there.

Ya, that is golf man, some days you got it some days you don't. If you accept that fact now you will enjoy the game alot more no matter how you shoot on any given day. Oh and my opinion on hitting into nets are "DONT DO IT" It can cause more problems if your learning because you wont be able to see the ball flight and then you might be practising a bad habit over and over that is causing the ball to slice or hook or whatever. stick to the range where you can see what your swing does to the ball flight my .02

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
