Do used/refinished gold balls perform differently than new ones?

It seems to me that the only possible issue for a ball that has a cover in good condition would be water damage. And I just cant get my head around a ball with a seamless cover getting water in it? How is a seamless tour ball not waterproof?

Clubs I havent thrown in a lake yet

Is there any such thing as a "refinished" golf ball. I have seen them on ebay but what exactly is a refurbished ball???? Soaked in bleach overnight????

I supppose its worth noting that I play 3 or 4 times a week, so I dont go through many a round. I just play alot. Maybe Ill just buy the new HX tours they have on clearance.

Dicks sporting goods has been blowing those out as well. $34.99

The one around here has been out of those for a long time, plus theres only one in town and I moved a fair amount away from it. Thats where I used to get my balls because you could ussually get something on a deal but its a bit of a drive now

I buy used ProV1's at Academy for $20 for 30 balls. I can tell a lil difference then a new one but its not enough to justify $50 a dozen.. I say go for it!
