I have the pleasure of saying I've been in the zone. More than a couple times. It is the most exhilarating feeling knowing you can do "no wrong" I shot 61 -13 through 15. "CHOKE" and shot 62 smooth birdie the last. The fairway is 100 yards wide. Your wedges "FIND" the pin and the hole looks like a 5 gallon bucket. You also cant wipe that S&*% eatin grin off your face for the life of you. I got up and down out of the "figurative" trash can 3 holes in a row. then the next hole holed out from 120 for eagle.

I've shot higher than a 62 on 9 holes before.

I remeber being in the zone. It was duuring a tournament at my home course to qualify for the MGA team competition. On the front I shoot a 36 on a par 35, and had a ridiculuos 12 putts. I made at least four from 12-20 feet, and I walked them into the center of the cup. One hole I hit a wayward shot and went OB on a par 3, but I stepped up to the tee again knocked it to 20 feet and drained the bogey. I ended up tying my record round of 78 and placed T2 which made me qualify for the MGA Team. What a great feeling.

I don't know why but your post reminded me of a Jr tournament that I played in when I was just a kid. I must have been 12 or 13. This tournament was one of those rare "in the zone" experiences. Every drive seemed to go 20 yards further and and find the fairway without difficulty, the irons were dead on as was the putter. When I did miss a green I had the feeling that getting up and down was a sure thing, almost like the cup was a 5-gallon pail. I ended up shooting a 78 that day and won my age division by a handful of strokes. It was a great feeling and one that doesn't come along very often.

I experience "the zone" a lot more when shooting than I do playing golf. I'm not sure why that is but there is just something about the way the front sight settles, the rhythm of the pistol and the feel of a crisp trigger break. For some reason, it's easier for me to achieve, almost on demand. That probably has more to do with the fact that I practice more with my 1911 than I do with my golf club. My wife thinks I'm crazy but I find it relaxing to dry fire while watching TV. I can't really do that with my 8-iron. Since we got new carpet, I can't do that with my putter anymore either (our new carpet is not conductive to rolling a golf ball). But I digress...

I strive to be in the zone, been there like 4 times. Most recently when I shot 67. But I've also been in the zone and shot 73, comes down to putts for me
