I am trying to plan a golf trip for myself and 3 friends.

Two of us aren't serious golfers so we don't want Bandon Dunes-esque stuff rather something more like Phoenix level with nice and easy conditions.

One of them lives in Phoenix so we're actually trying to avoid there also. We don't really want to spend a fortune and thus don't have to play top tier courses.

Basically we want solid golf, good weather and good times. Three of us live on the west coast, Seattle, SF, Phx, and one in Michigan. We are thinking mid-May so anything above the mason-dixon line could have spotty weather.

My thoughts are
San Diego
Vegas (although this can get it expensive right?)
Santa Fe (anybody know anything about New Mexico?)
Austin
Is there a way to do Sea Island or Kiawah cheaply?

Any advice is appreciated.

Bandon Dunes has a variety of tee boxes... anyone could have fun loosing balls there, and it is probably the best trip on the west coast.

How much golf are you doing v. hanging out and doing other stuff...

Vegas has a lot of "other" stuff.

Mesquite is supposed to be good... http://www.golfmesquitenevada.com/
