I was on the range the other day and former LPGA superstar JoAnne Carner takes the station next to me. She is 70 years old and was hitting a wedge about 60 yards just nipping it perfectly with incredible tempo.

She tees off the first and stripes it down the middle from the whites. I see her a few holes later on a par 5 and she is about 60 yards out and pulls out that same wedge and hits it just under the hole for an uphill putt. I was amazed at her ability to hit it so pure.

Anyway, I go home and look her up and see that she has 43 LPGA victories with 2 US Opens and 5 US Amateurs. Her last event that she made the cut in was the 2004 Chik-Fil-A at age 64. Let me tell you that even at 70, Big Momma can still play.

Some of the younger guys on here should look her up to see what a TRUE professional golfer should be like. Big Momma was the LPGA for quite a few years. There were other ladies that won more........ but none loved like Big Momma. Her personality was second to none. She was worth going to a tourney just to see her on the practice range, constanly yapping at the spectators and cutting up with everyone.

I'll never forget her telling the spectators one day at the "Boston Five Classic" that she hated early tee times because it took her about 6-7 cups of coffee to get her heart pumping before teeing off. She was alot of fun to watch.

    • Day 133: did a stack session.
    • You can pre-order an R50 here for pretty rapid shipping (these are back-ordered almost everywhere): https://www.playbetter.com/products/garmin-approach-r50-golf-launch-monitor-simulator?ghref=2301%3A700794. This is an affiliate purchase, and I'm willing to kick back lifetime ad-free Supporter membership here on TST or a 90-minute GEARS session for the cost of a regular member lesson (about 1/3 the cost). Also, I'll record a video myself soon when I get an R50.
    • Day 58 - 2024-11-27 Some quick 90-yard shots on a particular hole… before a lesson and testing out multiple Foresight Launch Monitors on GSPro.
    • Day 209 (27 Nov 24) - Easy session with the LW - short pitches replicating greens side up and downs. Finished up with the 7i and hard foam balls - making 1/2 to 3/4 swings with deliberately slowed tempo…from varied lies.
    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
