In my backswing, once my club is vertical it is impossible for my left arm to stay straight or even relatively close. I'm aware the club must be parralel to ground and pointing to target but unless I use my wrists to finish movement(which is hard to keep stable, I'm screwed. Hopefully someone has good advice

You do not need to get the club parallel to the ground nor do you need to keep the left arm straight..  There are many teachers who will say this, do a web search and find them.

It is much better to have an effective tension free golf swing with good result than a tension filled contortion trying to chase someones idea of the ideal one size fits all.

I just love this video so I keep referring to it. there are many misconceptions and misapplications in the golf swing.
