Hello,

I recently decided to try out golf and so did my girlfriend. We had several lessons and liked it so we started practicing. Now the thing is I got preowned TM R7 irons for myself, but I am not sure about right clubs for her. She is 173cm (5'8") tall and like 87cm (34 and 1/4) wrist to floor. The thing is its hard to get ladies preowned clubs or beginner set in any other length than standard ladies. According to most web custom fitting sites she should have at least 1/2 - 1 inch longer clubs. The other option is probably mens reg graphite iron set but I guess because of her slow swing, this is maybe worse than 1 inch shorter clubs. Your ideas please? Thanks a lot in advance

no advice or ideas here, but I'm curious to see what people say.

My wife is the opposite of your girlfriend: 5' 2" and she owns regular shaft length Adams.  I've noticed the more times she swings in an outing, the more she adjusts her address and out of whack she gets.  Then bam! she makes a swing that jolts her lower back.  I'm convinced she needs fitting too, but as I have never been fitted either, I don't have a point of reference.  I'm planning on getting fitted myself at some point, but until then...

tinkering with a plethora of equipment and brands; I now feel like its all about mechanics and less equipment- stay tuned

I am fairly new to golf as well and didnt want to go out and buy brand new clubs at first either.  I checked craigslist every day untill I found something I liked that was fairly close to what I would need.  I'm 6'-4" and  through all the online sites that help with fitting  I figured I would roughly need + 3/4-1" and around 2* upright lie.  I ended up finding a set of ping green dot I-10 irons that were preety close to the lie I would need and then had them extended by my local golf galaxy.  It ended up costing me 90$ for 4-pw and that included new Golf Pride tour wrap grips. So i guess that equals out to around 3-4$ a club to get them extended.  If you can find a good deal on something used I would check it out.  It wasnt a big deal to get them extended either, I dropped then off after a round on saturday and picked them up sunday morning.  Although you might want to talk to them about keeping the swing weight correct, I'm not exactly sure what it entails or exactly what specificly it is but the guy who did the work on my clubs said it is important and I came to the right guy, but who knows. Maybe someone else can shed some light on this?

Since she's just starting... have you considered Pinemeadow?  They can do length changes... or you can just buy her a set and have them fitted.

at 5'8" why not just get her a set of men's senior clubs? they would have an easier flex and be long and should be easier to find than women's clubs with length added.

 G25 Driver (10.5* Stiff Flex)

 G20 3 Wood (15* Stiff Flex)

 i15 3 Hybrid (20* Stiff Flex)

 i20 Hybrid (23* Stiff Flex)

 JPX 800 (5-AW)

 T11 54* (9* Bounce) and 58* (10* Bounce) w/DG Spinner Shafts

Look for a men's set with senior flex shaft.  I wish I had done that for my daughter, I bought her a set of ladies clubs, but she is 6' tall and the clubs are too short.  I added length to the clubs but she still hits mine better, even with a shaft that is too stiff for her.

Yeah, wanna make 14 dollars the hard way?

Thanks a lot for all replies. Pinemeadow would be an option, but as we are europe based, its just not worth it with the shipping costs. Will probably try to get some senior clubs as suggested.
