So I've been playing Taylormade Burner Plus irons for three years and although they aren't that old as far as clubs go, I think it's time for a step up. Plus, they're pretty banged up. My main issue with the Burner Plus is how large the sole is. I want something a little less thick and something that I can shape shots with better. My shots have become a lot more consistent and I don't need a clubface so large. Used clubs may also be an option since my budget isn't huge. I play quite a bit so I want something that I'll really enjoy playing with. I'm curious to hear your suggestions on makes and models of game improvement-players irons. My last question is; should I get fitted? What are the benefits and do they outweigh the price?

Thanks

I would get fitted for sure, it may benefit your game and its usually free anyway if you buy new clubs, I got the rbz irons this yr, reviews say they're an improvement on the burners but your best reviewing them yourself when you try them, you should go to a golf shop, tell them your budget, then hit as many types as they've got, see what feels best, if they're over budget, just get 5-pw for now, you might find you want to add specialist wedges or hybrid later!

Thanks! Never really thought about getting a 5-PW set but that's a really good idea. I don't really play my 4 iron anyway, I just use my hybrid. There's a place nearby that does fittings so I'll go there some time.

If you like the rbz, might be best going 5-pw + the aw, the pw is strong at 45* and it it's a big gap to the sw at 55*! The aw is 50* They presumed or tried to get me buy the 3-sw, without the aw! but I got the 4 -pw, +aw and then went and bought a Cleveland 56*sand and 62*lob wedge at a later date! So my irons are now complete and I expect will last me another 10yrs like my last set!
