Over the past few months I've become more and more aware of just how much offset plays a part on my address position and it really started to annoy me. I was in the market for some new clubs so I looked far and wide for a good set of player irons with minimal offset. My favorite clubs during testing were the X-Forged but unfortunately I'm not at the level where I'm comfortable (read confident) enough to hit 'em consistently. So, I went with the X-20 Tour instead; minimal offset with a blade look. Then, I decided my hybrids and woods could use a little less offset so I ordered myself a TM Burner TP Fairway and a Rescue TP. I'm hitting both well so now all I have left is the driver which is the main point of my post.

"Tour Spec" drivers usually have an "Open" club face which I've seen range from 1/2 * to 3 * open. While doing research last night I noticed the Cleveland HiBore XL Tour is 3 * open while the regular, everyday player, edition is square. At this stage of my development I'm more prone to a "slice" (2/10 drives) and maybe 3/10 slight fades, 1/10 hooks, a couple draws and a couple right down the middle.

Now, with a 3* open club face would I be working against myself?

I've recently tried the SuperQuad TP(1* open), Burner TP(1* open), FT-i Tour (1/2 * open) and I liked them all. Liked the FT-i Tour the most until I snapped the shaft during a range session

Has anybody hit the Cleveland HiBore XL Tour? I'd love to try but being a lefty it's next to impossible unless of coarse I pay to demo one. Or, since my 3-wood and rescue are square that the regular XL would probably suit my eye just a little more.

Thoughts?

I think that a square club face or maybe 1* closed/open is ok, but 3* is wayyy too much. I normally hit a draw and with my FT-5 tour (0.5* open), i hit staight or a slight fade!!! 3* open will be massive slices.

I have hit the Hi-bore XL tour....and I crushed it, it had a heavy weight, tour stiff Fuji fit-on shaft. I over swing my driver and go past parallel with that club only...and I left it right on the range. I changed my set up and closed the face and corrected it, but it was not the club for me. I do like the new Hi-bore XL, 1 of the top 3 drivers out in my opinion.
