Okay, I'm hoping that I am over-analyzing all of this and it is just as simple as I would assume it to be. I have a Palm Treo 700w on the way that I ordered. My service is with Verizon and I know I can pay extra per month to get internet access, but I'm pretty sure that I won't use it enough to justify the $20/$30/$40 per month, or whatever it costs, initially to decide if I use it enough or not.

So, my question is, with one of these wireless SD cards to pick up on a wireless signal, would I be able to use it to access the internet instead of paying for Verizon's service? Or would I still have to pay Verizon to actually have "internet capability" on the phone?

Example of said SD Card....

Phone I am getting....

I read this at the site: Adds 802.11b wireless network connectivity to the Tungsten™ T3, Tungsten T5, and Zire™ 72 handhelds

If you don't have a wifi connection, you're out of luck right from the start. My hunch is that your car or wherever doesn't have wifi, so...

Haha, touche'. But, I will be finishing my Internship and returning to school in January for this coming semester. While my car does not have wifi, the campus has wireless hotspots nearly everywhere. All buildings that I have classes, the University Center, the South Patio (basically a common area that people hang out between classes), my fraternity house, and numerous other locations have wireless access. The way to connect to it is to open IE and enter my username/password and I am connected as long as I don't leave its range.

My question is that if I don't have Verizon's specific "internet package," will I be able to access internet with one of these wireless cards?

I'm not sure if the phone's software will be built to use alternate data services for web browsing. You might want to call Palm.

Well, luckily I my co-op is almost over and I have ample time to surf the internet here at work. While browsing, I found this thread over on Brighthand which seems to have solved my problem......

    • Day 299: played 18. Hit the ball well, but did not score well. I think I ended up +10, with half of that coming on 2 holes.
    • Day 549, May 4, 2024 After lessons and working with Natalie, hit some balls for awhile. Just backswing stuff. Forgot about the slightly shorter stuff, though I'm sure it was as they were only about 75% speed with brief pauses.

    • Best drive I've ever hit: I will not be answering any questions about the rest of the hole. Or the round, for that matter.
    • I tried hybrids way back when TaylorMade introduced the copper orange Firesole Rescue, the clubhead having been made of titanium which was still relatively new even in drivers back then. I couldn't hit it well at all, and while the success of hybrids suggests that the modern ones must be quite good,  I'm perfectly happy with the 5, 7, and 9-woods.  Early ones of mine were Top Flite Intimidator 400s made by Spalding... and also made of titanium, now that I think of it.  I still have them in my basement. I do bag a driving iron, but it's a one-trick-pony that never sees fairway use.
