  2. I recently picked up an R11s 12* driver and it works great for me. I have it set on the high loft setting making it 13.5. I have a as of about 93 and can get it up to 95-96 if I remember to loosen up a bit. I typically average about 225 to 230 and end up around 250-260. I used to use a 10.5 Supertri and the new driver is straighter and about 10 yards longer. It's pretty fun hitting it by other people when it technically has a 3 wood loft.
  3. go to lostgolfballs.com and try as many as you like. They are really cheap and I cant tell the difference between the AAAAA grade and brand new ones from the store. Get a dozen of a bunch of different ones and give them a try. Another good thing is that you wont feel as bad if you end up not liking the ones you got because they are so cheap. They usually have a pretty good selection too.
  4. What size glove do you normally wear? I have small hands and use a small size glove. I have undersized grips because it is easier to close the clubface when I swing. If I use standard grips, I tend to leave the face open and end up slicing or blocking it right (R handed).
  5. Does anyone know which manufacturers are still making 9 woods? Are there any current offerings or will I have to go hunting for a really old used one?
  6. I picked up a set of the JPX800s about a month back and love them. I got a set with the Nippon 950 shafts which are pretty lightweight. I am coming from a mixed set of TM TP MC/MB because I needed more forgiveness. While I do miss the feeling of a forged iron, I dont miss only getting that feeling on 1 out of 10 shots. If you mishit the 800s, there is not much of a penalty distance wise. These irons launch high and go pretty far even though the lofts are pretty jacked up (44 PW). I tried out the RazrX irons but they just felt too heavy for me. I prefer a lighter clubhead and a lighter overall weight. The weight of the Razr's just threw me off balance too much on the backswing. I also tried the G15s. I really wanted to like them but the huge sole just put me off. Because of the way they looked, I couldnt put a confident swing on with them. Overall, I am very happy with the 800s. Good balance, nice feel, and the head definitely doesnt look like an SGI iron. The topline is on the thicker side but I think it just looks big to me because I am comparing them with my old irons. I like what they did with the sole grind as well. It has a larger sole to help get the ball in the air but it really looks a lot thinner than it really is due to the different grind that they use. That being said, since you are going to be investing a good amount of money in your next set, try and get out to a store where you can try out all of the different ones. You may find out that you play best with an iron set that you never initially considered. This is the perfect time to invest $100 or so to get fitted as well. That way you know that it is your swing that is causing errant shots and not your ill fitted equipment.
  7. What is your driver SS? Mine is around 93 and I play a 13.5* G15. I can consistently hit it out about 250, usually pretty straight (sometimes with a slight draw). I tend to deloft all of my clubs because of my bad swing so it was hard to get a good ballflight even with an 11.5* driver. Nothing wrong with a high lofter driver, especially with a slower swing speed. You might find that you get more distance with more control with a 13* driver. I think if you go try one out, you will be pleasantly suprised at how well it works.
  8. I am selling a Miyazaki CKua 39R shaft. It has a brand new white/black NDMC grip and an R9/11 tip installed. Sold my supertri so this has to go. Good lightweight shaft for smooth swingers. Mid launch with low spin shaft.
  9. Mine was about $55 shipped. Pretty good deal for a high quality cover.
  10. I just got my custom headcover in the mail today. Custom mallet putter cover by Delila (girlygolfer.com). This fits perfectly. Better than the stock headcover. Lets see pics of your custom headcovers! What do you think?
  11. I had this installed last week and have 3 rounds with it so far. It has cut my draw down from 15-20 yards to about 10 yards. My miss is a hook and this will not do anything to change that. This will make your good shots better but will not keep you from making bad shots. A 60 yard hook is still a bad shot if it is cut down to a 55 yard hook. I still have to get used to my alignment with this installed. I used to start my shots way over the right rough and draw it back to the middle/left side of the fairway. Now the ball will land just off the fairway to the right. Sometimes it will hit the very right side of the fairway and sometimes it will hit the rough. I would recommend having one of these installed. There is no downside of having it installed and you can reinstall it if you ever change drivers. It works for me and will keep using it in all of my future drivers. Given how hot of an item this is right now, you can easy sell it if you end up not liking it. Just go into it knowing that it will not turn a slice into a fade or a hook into a draw. This will tame your draw/fade to a more playable flight.
  12. I have a 2bar hybrid mallet (not quite the same) and absolutely love it. The rollgroove face puts such a pure roll on the ball. No hopping at all. I ended up purchasing the extra weights as well. I like being able to change the weight before the round if the greens are slow/fast. The 2 bars definitely help on off center putts as well. The face does not open/close on impact if you hit it off the toe/heel. Very solid putters.
  13. Have you ever checked your swing on a launch monitor? Just asking but your distance seems pretty good for a low/mid 80s SS. With a lower swing speed, usually you would want a higher launch for more carry. Not like 17-18* but 14-15 would be perfect. I had a fitting and my speed is 91* with a 10* launch. I used a 10.5 supertri and was only carrying it out about 200-210 on my best drives. It would roll out to 230-240 because the descending angle was only about 10-15*. I just changed to a 13.5 G15 with a firm regular shaft. Now I can carry the ball about 230 and get about 260 on a good drive. I still hit the ball fairly low and I am still searching for a good shaft for my swing.
  14. I think you could tell people that it means whatever you want it to. Just dont try it out on anyone who can read kanji. Its kind of like when people get kanji tattoos. Most of them have no idea of what it means but is taking the artist's word for it. I have one but I know mine is right because I painted the original calligraphy.
  15. I took my driver into my local shop to have the shaft replaced. Nothing particularly wrong with the stock shaft (G15) but I'm always tinkering around with the equipment. I asked them to install a ProLaunch Axis Blue with a ShotMaker insert. I go pick up the club yesterday and they installed a ProLaunch Blue instead. One of the old model shafts. I know that some people say that the specs of the two shafts are similar but from what I saw on the website, there are other new tech stuff built into the Axis shaft. I am playing in a tournament on friday/saturday so I cant bring the driver back to the shop today. Is there any noticable differences between these two shafts? Is it wrong to try it out this weekend and have them put in the Axis shaft that I requested if this one doesnt feel right? I dont want to go through the hassle of getting the Axis shaft installed if there really isnt any noticable difference between the two shafts. The Axis one does look a whole lot better that this one though. Any suggestions?
