  1. Well, I found a swing thought that helped me hit my driver straight(er) today although the distance wasn't great. That thought was to get my hands high at the top of the back swing as I have a tendency to keep them fairly low. When I say low I mean as in below head height. Studying a few pros they all have their hands level with the top of their head at the top of the back swing. Perhaps I'm not even raising my hands at all but just pausing at the top... I guess what this has done for me was to allow me to fully complete the back swing - rather than swinging too early resulting in a push or big slice - would that make sense?
  2. Thanks Muggs, I'll keep that in mind!
  3. Hi guys Just took up golf (again) and looking for some swing critique. I've only ever played a few rounds and really want to get into it properly but I'm a bit hesitant on taking my game out on to the course until I've got a decent enough swing to not embarrass myself (or hit someone three fairways to the right off the tee box). My 9 iron through wedges are pretty solid, usually straight - with the occasional fade. Anything longer than a 9 iron gets pushed right and my driver is a combination of pushes, slices, pulls and hooks. Surprisingly my 5 wood (off the tee) is usually fairly straight or starts right with a slight draw. I know I usually come from inside out, get slightly flat on the backswing and that my head bobs up at the end of the backswing. I also believe that I slide my hips through to the left too much which contributes to the push. Possibly too much knee bend and weight too far back at address too. Anything else? Here's my swing at normal speed, followed by a slow motion , followed by a normal speed swing once more. Thanks!
  4. Let's go Rangers.... oh wait! Out in Round 1...
  5. I have some tribal on my right calf and an old school swallows, rose and scroll on the inside of my left bicep. Here is the old school tattoo.
  6. One of the drills I came across on Leadbetter Interactive this morning for overactive hips is to turn in your left foot 45° at address, maybe this would recreate the same feeling without the use of the bungee so that you don't need a partner to practice with?
  7. My local course is a par 34, 9 hole course. On the scorecard it has 18 holes, basically what I want to know is that on the back 9 why is the stroke index 1 higher? e.g. On the 1st hole the SI is 5, then on the 10th (the same physical hole) the SI is 6. It follows the same pattern for all of the back 9 holes.
  8. I used the interlock grip but recently changed to the overlap grip and found that my swing became much more smoother and more consistent. I'd say if you can get comfortable with the overlap then that's the one to use.
  9. Well I'm currentty unemployed, which means I'm out on the Course 4 or 5 days a week. I'm looking to get into web design preferably, would work anywhere in IT.
  10. Today I shot 36 through 9 holes / par 34, 2425 yards. Very pleased just being 2 over in only my 5th round of golf. Now only if I could sort out my slice off the tee with the driver and learn to hit my fairway woods. :)
