  1. I lost today. Wordle 357 X/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟨🟨 ⬜🟨🟨⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟨🟩⬜ 🟨⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜🟩🟩 ⬜🟩⬜🟩🟩
  2. Fixed the chicken wing. The feeling here was to swing like Mac A3 to A8. Really I'm making a pretty much full swing, but it is much better through impact - apart from the clubface being wide open at A7 - this often comes from cupping my left wrist at A4 ( need to get a dtl video to confirm). Feeling like DJ usually fixes this for me. I'm not convinced that key #1 is my priority so I'm going to change tact. I think my priority should be key #2, getting my weight further forward at A7. To attack this I'm going to drill the above feel like mac swing (with a DJ dorsiflexion of the wrist at A4) but feeling like I'm popping a balloon between my thighs through impact as per an older comment from @mvmac as well as the preset weight forward drill.

  4. There seems to have been a lot of misreading of the greens today.

  7. I hadn't noticed that. Now I can't hear anything else. The commentators are quite annoying.

  9. Good question @iacas as a priority, I think the coke bottle drill will help for the translation to the left or right in the back swing. (Although my head is moving to the left in my most recent video, that's not really a typical issue for me - but this would cover translating left and right in case it's creeping back in). Your shift and turn wall drill also looks like it could be a good one for me And for dipping through impact, not wholly sure, but earlier extension of the legs and tucking my butt under, (limbo drill). But I also feel that maybe a drill swinging from left arm parallel to right arm parallel with straight arms could help, as if my arms are straight then no dipping down would be needed. E.g. 1 min 30 in the below, but with a shorter backswing
  10. I think steady head, key 1 makes sense. And hopefully preventing the big dip into A7 will also help with keeping my arms straighter.
  11. Some observations after watching through the videos and adding lines to help spot/track how much I'm shifting in XYZ directions. DTL Looks a bit OTT FO Head is moving forwards in backswing Head moves back to setup position at impact albeit a few inches lower. Chicken wing Weight Head moving forward isn't typical for me so potentially caused by the feel / drill I was trying out of leaning my back towards the target at A4 Lower camera angle than previously - now at hand height and as in line with my hands as I could get it. Can't wait my 5sk dvd set arrives soon after finally biting the bullet and purchasing it after ummin and ahhing for the best part of a decade! Obviously feel isn't real, but I'm going try feeling like I'm making a "traditional" swing, moving towards my right in the backswing to see what that looks like on video. Hoping it gets me more centered over the ball at A4. Also want to lay off the club at the top a bit more and have the shaft shallow out in the downswing.
  12. Trying to get a flatter left wrist at A4. (for me a cupped left wrist at A4 leads to a wide open clubface at A7). Trying to get wider in the backswing by keeping my right arm straighter. Drilling a lean towards the target (Elkington style practice swing?) at the top of the backswing for a better key #1 - (to prevent my head shifting behind the ball and rising up.) Drilling getting the weight forward and hands down around A6. Hits felt pretty good. Notes: chicken wing through impact. Need to keep arms straighter longer. DTL FO

  14. First ever try at this. Wordle 353 2/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  15. Trying to get wider in the back swing, still comparison at A2 and A3. The video. DTL FO
  16. Thanks @iacas
  17. Could you expand on what you mean by narrow please @iacas?
  18. And here I am, back again after a long break, wanting to get back into playing. First swings in about 4 years. DTL FO Looks like my head is moving back a couple of inches (from setup) prior to impact which will be contributing to my misses (fat/thin). Any comments are appreciated.
  19. It looks to me like your head is a couple of inches further behind the ball (to your right) at impact than it is at address when viewed face on which won't be helping with thin/fat shots. Check out this thread about a centred pivot, this will help keep you centred over the ball, which I believe should help eliminate those misses.
  20. I haven't hit a ball for a couple of years (apart from 2 range visits) but I'm getting back into golf - must be the unusually warm weather we're having. I don't think I'm doing too badly here baring the above in mind. DTL: FO: As always, any feedback is greatly appreciated.
  21. No problem. Terms like A4 and A5 a re used a lot throughout this site. They are the alignments in the swing, it just makes it easier to talk about different parts of the swing. A1 - address A2 - club shaft parallel to the ground A3 - left arm parallel to the ground A4 - top of back swing A5 - left arm parallel to the ground A6 - club shaft parallel to the ground A7 - impact There are a few more after impact too. There's a really good thread which shows the alignments:
  22. I'm no expert but I have a few comments which I hope are useful. I'd start off tweaking your address position a little. Flare your feet outwards which will also turn your knees out slightly. Tilt your head down so you're looking at the ball out of the middle of your eyes rather than the bottom. Rounding your back will help with this - there's a good thread on this here - http://thesandtrap.com/t/56069/good-golf-posture-how-to-address-the-golf-ball A centred pivot (not moving to the right on the backswing) may help - achieve this by keeping a steady head - http://thesandtrap.com/t/61376/5sk-video-thread#post_781529 Your downswing looks very steep, and out to in which will be creating the pulls / slices depending on where the club face is pointing on that particular swing. Taking your hands more to the inside (rather than straight back) in the takeaway will help as they will be deeper - http://thesandtrap.com/t/30325/deep-hands-explained - this will help you swing more from the inside. Also, I think that if you can flatten out the club shaft between A4 and A5 (this is what I'm currently working on) then that will help you swing more from the inside. This image shows how shallow your hands are and how steep your downswing is (approx A5) compared to the angle you set at address.
  23. Oops. Fixed now.
  24. A little better again. I've also found that pushing my hips through faster, more aggressively helps me to hit out of the middle of the club face rather than towards the hosel which is something I've been struggling with. I don't like how much my head moves away from the target between A6 and A7 but that's not my priority piece for now. (unless it's a very simple fix).
