  1. been struggling with balance recently; especially in the wind and especially with short irons. whenever it is windy, I am tending to fall forward, basically walking fter the ball. any suggestions to help improve balance and stability in poor conditions.
  2. playing in a mixed pinehurst event this weekend. If you don't know, this means, both people hit tee shots, each hits the other's tee shot for the second ball. Then you pick a shot and play alternate shot from there. Anyone know how these events are handicapped?
  3. Pine Needles or Pinehurst 7 or Pinehurst 8? Planning some golf for a bachelor party, which course do you like better. Of the 8 in the group, 5 are single digit handcaps and two are in the middle double digits.
  4. had a hole in 3 when i was 17 (snapped hook my first shot out of bounds and holed the next one). since then, i really haven't been close.
  5. thanks. i had no idea it could be that "easy" to get a tee time
  6. there were six tee boxes in total, 6700, 6200 were also options for men.
  7. gotta give a quick shout out to Ross Bridge. Played it for the first time this past weekend and it is definitely in my top 3 list (Whistling straits and pinehurtst are the other two). Tips are 8200 yards (the longest in the US i believe.) I played the 7400 yard version and it definitely played that long. Most holes demand accuracy and power off the tee. Lots of good par-4s requiring a long iron approach and nice longer par-3s. You can make up some shots on the par 5s if you can bomb it off the tee, only one of them is truly a three-shot hole. Course is in immaculate shape, greens are very well bunkered and i would go back in a second. If you are in the area, its definitely worth the tip. (also, I loved the short course at oxmoor valley, the Trail course next door. 18 hole par-3 course with 9 holes over 200 yards.) Played it in 2.5 hours and it definitely kicked my butt. For $15, it might be the golf value of the century.
  8. do you actually have to sleep in your car or can you sleep in a sleepting bag on the sidealk by the parking lot?
  9. i think the other key several people have mentioned is to only have ONE swing thought in your head. for me, the focus is getting a good finish with my right should pointing to the target.
  10. how high do you guys play long irons (1-iron thru 3-iron). started teeing them up a bit higher... definitely getting more distance but alot more inconsistant.
  11. i live in chicago and have yet to see a cicadas. even when they come it likely only for a day or two.
  12. how do you like the new bag. I am looking for a new lightweight carry bag. I am debating between the Grom, the Callaway STT and a couple of sun mountain ones.
  13. i actually tend it hit it further when i slow down my swing because my base is so much more stable. my biggest issue at the range is to avoid just whacking balls and making sure i do a good pre-shot routine on every swing.
  14. i've haven't played in a while. i have no idea where the ball is going to go.
  15. interesting in that it doesn't mention his new focus of keeping his right leg straighter at impact.
  16. finance director for a fortune 50 CPG company.
