  1. IMHO I see them as over marketed techno clubs with super juiced lofts. With that being said I should point out that this opinion should have no sway on your decision to buy/play them or not. How do they feel to you? Do they inspire confidence? Do they calm you? Do they please your eye? Club selection and purchase is such a personal thing I'm not sure how much honestly helpful data you're going to get asking the question here. I would say this though, if you are in any way unsure then don't do it. That is a lot of money to spend on something you're not positive of. P.S. don't trust the monitors

  4. nope I sure wouldn't. I will be stretched out on a dock in northern wisconsin this coming friday, hopefully consuming my first summer shandy. If it's not to my tastes then i'll cross it off the list and then break out a leinie red.
  5. No harm no foul, I don't get bent out of shape over posts on the internet, it's just not worth my time. I'm new to the game and probably would have written the same thing except I was hoping someone had some fantastic reason that I wasn't aware of like "all hat sales go to charity" or something. I guess my observation is confirmed, they are in fact greedy SOBs.
  6. On a side note, I went to this link, read the blog, and then went searching for this video that supposedly showed the "other" side of Justin.... What a crock of s**t, the title is "the softer side of Justin" or something to that effect, but its the same old garbage spewing from his mouth. Why is it so hard for a guy to just say "they played better than me"? I hope I never see or hear anything about this self proclaimed "legendary ball striker" for the rest of my life.
  7. Another post in this thread just made me step back a minute and think, why don't golf companies include a hat or shirt when you buy a set of $800 irons or a $300 driver more often? Heck every time I've ordered from JEGS (performance car parts company for those that don't know), even if it's a $50 dollar order, I get a hat. I've probably got 10 of them laying around the garage right now and I've given away more than I could ever remember. For that matter every time I had to go to the Caterpillar dealer to help pick up equipment when I was doing an internship with USACE we got a free hat or license plate. I've gotten free shirts, hoodies, hats, and other merchandise from every single company I made a large purchase with (except chevy when I bought my truck, those rats!). It may be way off topic with what the OP was getting at but it is a good question, why aren't things like hats included when you make a large purchase from one of these companies? On topic, I wear a mesh Bridgestone cap because it was simply designed, on sale, and finally, I don't look good in a yellow JEGS hat.....which reminds me, I need to take the goodyears off my truck and get some Bridgestone T/A's before I have two different groups of people calling me a poser.
  8. Not yet but I'll make sure I try it next week when I get to Hayward, you're the third person to ask if I've had it so I'm assuming its definitely worth a try. The worst part is that you can find their Berry and Honey Weiss (My least favorite Leinie's) in a few grocery stores here but they won't stock anything else. edit* changed honey wheat to honey weiss
  9. Every once in awhile I play in this, of course it's a lot dirtier and encrusted with sweat and iraqi sand: Shouldn't be wearing the EGA unless you were or are a Marine, but you can get the older styles all day long online for like 10 bucks.
  10. Does anyone know of a database where you can look up bios on different teaching pro's? I'm going on vacation in a week but I've recently developed a serious issue with my irons that I would like to resolve before I play during this vacation. I'll probably spring for a lesson at the course I will be playing most ( Big Fish golf club, hayward WI) but I wanted to find a review or something on the teacher before I went and blindly shelled out an extra 50$.
  11. A pair of Ecco Causal Cool II shoes so that my feet won't hurt anymore, they fit like a glove Also, did not buy, but fell in love with the Mizuno MP-63 irons, I will not be able to afford to secure this love affair until next spring, but it will be worth it.
  12. If you're going to track progress using a weight scale make sure you weigh and record at the same time everyday. You will fluctuate throughout the day and it can be very confusing and frustrating. Personally I stay away from scales all together and use the best tool ever invented, the mirror. Make sure you look in the mirror (full length) after taking a shower or something, before you get dressed, and be constructively critical. Between a mirror and taking body fat measurements it'll be alot easier to keep track of your progress (at least that's what works best for me). On another note, if you ask me BMI is a crock, I wouldn't give it the time of day. In high school I was 6'-2" 240 pounds and 13% body fat. In the four years I was in the Marine Corp I never weighed less than 230 and thus had to be taped for body fat despite never running less than a 265 PFT (physical fitness test out of 300). Imagine my gunny's constant disappointment when they taped me and I always came back with 8-11% body fat, thus not being able to be labeled a fat-body and have to do extra PT with him. Moral of the story is this, the BMI maybe applies to 25% of the human race, if I weighed what the BMI thought I should be at I would probably look like I was about to die. I think it is antiquated and based off of a failed formula. Use a mirror and shoot for the healthy body fat percentage don't get caught up on your weight. I highly recommend Cross-fit (or an equivalent exercise regime) if you ever get the chance to use it because it emphasizes NOT focusing on single muscle groups and instead gives you a greater whole body general fitness.
  13. I don't really sweat in cotton or "breathable" sport shirts.....I perspire like a broken water main no matter what. I have found that the breathable sport fabrics feel more comfortable and less cumbersome to wear even when completely soaked, they don't feel like an extra 40 pounds of weight hanging from my shoulders for the last 12 holes. Thats the difference maker for me. I sympathize with your beastly sweat problems, stay hydrated!!
  14. Currently having a love affair with Wisconsin beers New Glarus Fat Squirrel, Leinenkugel red lager or creamy dark for dinners/ single beer for the evening. Leinenkugel original for everything else: working in the garage, cutting grass, fishing, etc... Since I live in Mississippi right now and can't get any of this local, once I run out of my mass stock of original I usually supplement with coors light until I can make another summer vacation run back up to WI.
