  1. I have on occasion smacked the ball a bit over 300. Acctually measured it with a golf buddies gps system. I can not say that I average 300 though, Maybe maybe 280-285
  2. i think its totally worth it, $230 for a new R11 that goes for $399
  3. I would suggest hitting as many clubs as you can. The 2.0's do feel great that is what I just upgraded to and hopefully they will be in next week. Good luck on your trek and let us know what you end up with. Mande
  4. Looks amazing. Have a good time out there
  5. Love this driver, havnt hit it on the course but did hit the driving range on base. I have a very high loft on all my shots and was easily clearing 240 in the air not sure how much roll it was getting or how far past the fence it was. O yea the Fence on the range is 240 out
  6. Seems like alot of us are in the same position. I was hitting a set of Spalding's that my grandfather passed onto me at the age of 15. I turned 23 on the 19th. Thats 8 years for me and who knows how long he had them for lol. I did some research online seems they came out in 1986, before I was even born. I had never hit any other clubs up to this point and my golf partner has been telling me everyday how good I could be if I just upgraded my clubs. From my hand me down irons, my 50 dollar driver and 25 dollar putter lol. On the 23rd I went to Edwin Watts and got fitted for a new set of Burner 2.0s after hitting a bunch of different clubs at a demo day here in Jacksonville. Two days ago I played in a tournament on base here and the guy I was playing against was selling his R11 for 250. After talking with him for the whole day and him watching me play. He offered to help my game out by selling me the R11 and his Odyssey backstryke putter for $300. It hits great. My thoughts on the Lessons vs New clubs: I suggest clubs then lessons. Why go take lessons then switch to new clubs? Get the clubs and get lessons with those clubs. There is no need to change something else after you have figured out your swing or whatever may be tweaked in your game.. Good luck on your decision. Mande
  7. I just picked up a R11 from a guy I golfed with in a Tournament. I paid $300 for the driver and a Odyssey Backstryke putter. Couldnt beat the deal. Sorry back on topic lol. I love the driver, it looks great and I think it hits even better. With my old driver I have a problem with skying the ball. The R11's adjustments to make it a lower loft acctually worked for me. Irons not sure on the R9's I went with the burner 2.0's. I would suggest going to hit them. If your serious about getting back in go get fitted for them. My 2.0's are taking about 2 weeks to come in but they will be full custom. Good luck Mande
  8. I was thinking the same thing 120 off is big. Is the store Dicks Sporting goods? And where are they offering them for 380? Dicks wanted 699 for the Burner 2.0's, Edwin watts wanted 615. After getting fitted and all the good stuff the manager dropped the price to 575 for me. May have been Military discount though idk. Look into it more before you pull the trigger

    FL Hello

where in FL are you from?
  13. can we get some pictures of what you guys did? Even before and afters if you have them Thanks Mande
  14. So I just picked up a R11 from a guy I golfed with, he doesnt like it for some reason. The shaft on it is a Stiff but its not stiff enough for me. A buddy of mine has a R9 with a Xstiff shaft and he wants to trade shafts. What will this do to the club accuracy? Can it even be done? Thanks Mande
  15. I would bet the extra stiffness depending on your swing speed would help accuracy.. I had to have my clubs stepped down and extra stiff shafts to help me. IDK If its really that fast but I swing a 6iron at around 96mph..
  16. are you going to a store to buy one of these or ordering offline? If your going to a store, just hit a few balls with each. See which one feels the best to you...
  17. I agree with the guy above. Get fitted man and if you like the R5 try out a R9.. Its alot cheaper then the R11 and its a very good driver. If you wanna spend the cash though, I love my R11 lol
  18. Hey guys I just saw a thread about organizing your clubs in your bag, did a bit of searching and never saw any other thread and thought this might be a cool idea. I just bought a new Taylormade bag from Naval base Jacksonville Golf course and was looking for ideas on how to organize it. Sooo... What do you put in each of the pockets in your bag. Thanks Mande
  19. I got fitting for Burner 2.0's yesterday. Took roughly 1.5 hours. Full custom with upgraded shafts and step down? I will let you know in two weeks how accurate the distance is. But the price I paid to get it done... Original price of 2.0's at dicks 699+tax Price at Edwin Watts 615+tax Price after fitting 575+tax lol. Not sure why the guy cut me such a deal but I was very impressed with how in depth he went on it even helping my swing a bit...
  20. Today I went and ordered my new irons. Deffinetly can not wait to get these in. I ordered the Taylormade Burner 2.0's. I got measured they did some figuring out for my swing and a few other things. What we came up with was a set 5-pw with sw and gw, I guess with my iron clubspeed at 94mph I need a stiff shaft so we upgraded the shafts. I cant remember what they were but I will update when they come in along with photos. Also to get them even stiffer we are putting the shafts 1up from normal meaning 6iron has a 7iron shaft, 7 has a 8 so on and so on. So deffinetly excited and now I just need to figure out which driver I want. Probably the R11. Anyone know somewhere to get a decent price on one? Thanks Mande
  21. Ive got the same problem, but recently I was told by one of the Taylor Made guys that came to a course here that I should try to imagine holding my wifes hand. So far it has worked and im hitting a better driver. I just tell myself before each drive soft grip same speed back same speed forward... Good luck Mande
  22. Hello everyone, My name is Jon and I live in Jacksonville, Florida. Just joined this site to try to get some help with my golf game and improve as much as possible. A little about myself. I am 23 and I am Active duty US Navy. My grandfather taught me to play golf when I was younger probably 13/14 years old and I played all through High School and took a couple years off when I joined the military in April 2008. This past year a good friend of mine asked me if I played and of course I took the chance to get back onto the course. My friend did decide to point out that im still using a old set of blades lol. My grandfather passed them down to me and ive always hit them clean so ive never really thought of upgrading. Well fast forward to now, I am getting ready to upgrade, I did a little research and hit a few different clubs and I have decided to go and get fitted for a set of Taylormade Burner 2.0's. Not sure what drivers to get yet if anyone has any suggestions that would be great. GAME PLAY. My game play has been on and off over the past few months. One hole I will kill the drive with a slight fade around 280yards. The next will be a horrible hook. Im really not sure what I am doing but im trying to fix it one thing at a time. My iron shots are usually nice and clean, I tend to float the ball higher then most guys I play with and still get the same distance. I.E. Everyone will hit a 6 or 5 iron, I will pull a 7, hit it high and still just as far. IDK If maybe my club head speed is just really fast and I cant control it or what. My putting game isnt too bad usually tend to 2putt every hole. Thanks grandpa lol Pitch and chipping is thet thing I am currently working on. Ive started using my Sandwedge outside of the sandtrap. Trying to zero in the distance I hit it and become better with it. So thats all about me sorry about the long read but hey now you know me.. Thanks Mande
