  1. I went to the practice round and second round. your best bet would be to get 3 or 4 holes a head and wait then watch them and do it again other than that you have no hope there are too many people following them, second round it was tiger phil and vijay and everyone was following them, we just went ahead and waited and sergio was ahead of tiger so if you hop ahead you cant get decent spots and get closer than trying to walk with them. have fun its a blast watching them play
  2. Shot a 78 yesterday at a new course I work at. the course was perfect and played hard. rating was a 76.2 and it was about 7200 yards shot a brutal 43 on the front because of the blind shots into greens. Got a 6 on number 4 a 200 yard uphill par three which didn't help, but bounced back on the back and shot a 1 under 35. the course was unreal, the greens were perfect as was the fairways and the rough was thick and tall which was fun for a change just to experience rough that you can't hit more than a 9 iron out of. other than that 6 it was a good round but I'll take 78 since it was my first time playing the course and considering how hard it played.
  3. It's possible to do but takes a lot of practice. This is my second year of golfing and mine is a +0.2 but I'm playing atleast 18 holes a day and spending a good amount of time practicing. The biggest thing is just being consistent with ball striking and working on your game from 100 in as much as possible. First year will be a stretch I got mine down to a 5 by the end of the year but it is possible. just practice and play smart and if you do have to take bogey take it and not try to pull off a miracle shot that will put big numbers on your scorecard. but the main things for me was short game and hitting a lot of balls to become a consistent ball striker good luck
  4. The oil can wedges don't require too much too maintain and they do wear to a raw finish pretty quickly. I soaked mine in coke over nigth and it took the oil can finish right off, so it's now just the raw steel look which has no glare what so ever and looks pretty cool too
  5. Tap in birdies are always nice on those longer par 3's nice job. I was on the sixth hole today shoter par 4 325yds, Hit a solid 3 wood which left me sixty yards. Hit a high lob wedge into the hole landed a foot back, spun and fell into the cup. Since it was about a hundred out and I was waiting on each tee for about ten min i called it a day with that shot. Not a bad way to end the day
  6. Thanks man. I figured after getting cut off at 9 last night I would go out this morning. Best round I've shot. Shot a 3 under 69 one off the course record. I felt that I could have gone lower a lot of putts liped out but it's golf that happens. Finished the day with 5 birdies and two bogeys. The bogeys came from the only two fairways I missed and didn't have a good enough look at the flag to really go for it. I'll most likely go back out later on and try to stay in this groove I've had for the past few days.
  7. Did'nt get to play until about 6pm today so i only got nine holes in but had a great nine holes. Shot a 35, 1 under, Birdied the first hole and pared the rest. No exciting shots but the most solid golf I've played this year, hit every fairway and only missed one green. Got into a great rhythm only wish i could have played 18.
  8. I agree with taking your time playing theres nothing worse than paying $100 for a green fee then having 4 guys ripping golf balls into you all day trying to get done in two and a half hours. The only thing I can do is just let them play through if they are in that big of a rush and not let them ruin my round.
  9. Try it sometime you wont be dissapointed. It's easier to try different things out on the course when you are by yourself and you don't have to worry about slowing up anyone your playing with and it's a lot easier to focus on just your game and not watching someone else hit there balls.
  10. I usually let them jump ahead of me on the tee box. If i already hit my tee shot and I'm playing my second shot and see them on the tee box I'll finish the hole and wait for a couple minutes on the next tee. If they seem to be playing fast I'll wait and let them play through on the next hole but if they are playing slow and you can stay ahead of them I"ll tee off on the next hole. If you feel like they are rushing you let them play through so you don't have to rush your shots to stay ahead. Just use your best judgement
  11. When I play by myself I usually let people play through if they happen to catch up. I like to enjoy myself when I'm by myself so if the round takes a little longer letting people play through its fine. Just let them play through and if they ask you to join just tell them you feel like playing by yourself that day.
  12. Balls, tees, a few gloves, towel, some tape, extra spikes, something to snack on and bug spray.
  13. I'll usually golf two or three times a week by myself. It's more fun golfing with some buddies but golfing by yourself is just as good too. Most of the time when I go by myself I tend to play better, it just seems to make it easier to forcus on just golfing and nothing else. Bring the ipod or soemthing but only use one ear phone so you can still dodge golf balls when people are yelling fore. I find golfing by myself once in a while to be more enjoyable than anything. enjoy
  14. Hoopshot, The Sasquatch is not a bad option. Very easy to hit and I picked one up for about $100 last year when I got mine. I'm sure you could find a used one in decent shape for real cheap if you look around and a new one should not run you too much either.
  15. I had the Titleist in my bag for about a month and I loved it. Very tough to hit but if you can make consistant contact it's a great club. As someone already said it is brutal out of the rough unless you have a good lie. I traded mine in for the Mizuno F-50 only because the 13 degree on the Titleist was a little too much so I went back to 15 degree.
  16. Shot a 74 today. my course played tougher than usual. The greens had more speed than yesterday, but no complaints the putter was working for me. Had to make alot of up and downs anythign more than a 8 iron and the green would reject it. Finished the day with 16 pars and 2 bogeys so it was a pretty solid day.
  17. Searched golf forums on google and have been browsing around here for about a week and just decided to register not too long ago.
  18. Must be nice to play at 12:30. The closest we come down here is using the car's head lights to light up the range. Cant see the balls but you can hear them land. Still fun none the less, does'nt beat playing 24/7 though. enjoy it
