  1. Our stats are VERY similar in many ways so your posts are very interesting to me. . I used myscorecard.com 10yrs ago when it was a free site, and I was thinking that "Scrambling" counted as any up/down..not sure. IE...you hit it OOB....hit three from the tee and miss a par4 green....get up/down for a 6 and it counts towards your 'scrambling' stat...as well it should!!!! Whether it counts or not doesn't matter. The story that stat tells is very telling and wee learn a lot about our game.. Your scrambling and Up/down percent is 35-39%...I'm not sure how they are different. I think of both being the same thing......miss a GIR......what is the percentage you make par? Either way, it's fun to discuss... As a whole, your stats seem similar to mine except for putts and SS....(30%ish) Average Putts: - per Hole: 1.65 - per GIR: 1.83 - per 18: 29.71 With that said, this doesn't tell the whole story. It's certainly interesting digging into the details!!!
  2. This is a bit belated because this "SHOT" was 2 weeks ago, but I don't care!!!! I logged my 9th career/lifetime par4 deuce!!!!!!!!!!!!! (with hole pics) The hole is easy....it plays 322-340.....tight fairway with water left. The smart play is iron/hybrid off the tee.......then wedge on. There is hazard short/left/right of the green...so going for the green with driver is no bargain. On this day, the wedge shot went in...who'da thunk? Gotta love it...!!!!!!! Boo YAAAA!!!!! The hole from the tee....the view from the tee is very tight... You can see the cart-path up the right....you need to stay 'well left ' of that to hit the fairway so you get a feel for the narrowness. The rough is very thick...so anything towards the path gets snarled in thick rough or on side-hill hump lies will bring the creek short of the green in play. There's also a pest fairway bunker that hugs the right side of the fairway......the play is to lay short of it......avoid the bunker shot over hazard at all costs!! After a successful tee shot avoiding both the water left/rough left/and fairway bunker.......the view to a perched green. Hitting over the creek short of the green should be no problem from here!! ...and yea, I jarred it from 80yds......FEELS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!! A nice little view looking back at this little par4 from the green to the tee......... Fun stuff!!!!!!!! Not anything great to look at....but BOOM GOES the dynamite...LOL.....making deuce always feels good on a par 4!! Fun golf stories with course pics......anyone?
  3. Hahahaha......but I love Natalie!!!! You could always substitute for one of her calendar swimsuit pics, right? It will still be 'golf' ......on topic!! Either this.... Or this.... will do!!!!!! IMO.....both AVATAR worthy!! Hahahahaha
  4. Very interesting....mine is 35%. Then again.......the website I use may use different criteria to calculate saves. IE....1 putts for par may be the only number that counts where I track mine. Not sure..... Do you know your average putts per hole, average putts per GIR, and average putts per 18 holes?? PS...... I see you are in Malaysia......ever play golf on Penang? I've played Bukit Jambul CC a few times.....fun track!!
  5. My GIR for 2011 is 44% (lower than yours) and I'm a 2HC. This is just a shot in the dark, but you might want to also look at your save % when missing a green. A fun suggestion......find an online site where you can log detailed stats and your weakness will present itself.
  6. I agree on the rain and soft greens, but there is no excuse for the weak rough. they had all of 2011 to grow some rough, and they failed to do so.
  7. Ya mean like this??............LOL Thin to win won't work here.......LOL. Prairie grass defines the course and is present on every hole. Forced carries off every tee and placed in just that right spot to catch any ball that strays too far from the fairway. You can't play from it....lost ball and 2 stroke penalty virtually every time you find it....
  8. My game is all over the place..... My last few rounds:(par is 72) 88-81-73-83-71-72 Our rough is killer.....miss fairways and several par4s aren't reachable.
  9. I dunno....I've been watching the US open, and the rough doesn't impress me. It looks ragged, but easy..........IMO considering how shaggy/ragged it looks, yea...It's the US Open, but really?????????????????????????? With that said, my home course rough is nearly as bad!!! Miss a fairway/Ur...screwed!@ Our rough looks nice, right? LOL...........I am standing behind my ball!!! On closer inspection: Miss a fairway on my course........and you have serious issues.............. I've been watching the US Open......IMO, the course setup is a big weak. Heck...I nearly play that kind of rough every day!!!
  10. I hit it longer than Carl Spackler................ LOL
  11. I like Stephanie.........I'd hit thaaa....(cough)...I mean caddy for her and supply Pro-V's anytime!!! She's a pretty good player. Tillman or Sparks??? Huh?.......I'd enjoy being caddy for both!!! If I was caddy for both at the same time, would that make it a 3-some? LOL.... PS...I'm just an old married guy talking out of his @ss....please don't take anything I say too seriously. Thanks
  12. I agree...................avoid those shady websites.
  13. Honestly...this thread is a hoot.
  14. I have 1!!!................with course pictures!! The hole: (I admit it's not the most visually inspiring hole from the tee, but it plays tough for a par5) .......a true 3 shot hole for us AM hacks. 552yds....tee shot plays slightly downhill so you can't see a lot of fairway beyond the prairie grass, but the 2nd shot/green is steeply uphill. At first glance, the hole looks pretty wide open, but it isn't. There are bunkers on both sides of the fairway.....trees right and knee/thigh high prairie grass down the left. The fairways runs out at 300yds so you can't "Dustin Johnson-it" to give yourself a shorter 2nd shot. If the hole is playing downwind, you may need to pull a 3-wood off the tee to lay back. The fairway runs out at 300yds so 250+++ to a steeply uphill green is the best you can do. Real world translation: 2nd shots average way over 250!!!!...driving the creek is not an option!!!!!!.....3 SHOT HOLE for us mortal hacks. We can actually see the fairway in person, but the prairie grass definitely dominates this photo. (it defines the course) View from the tee: After a good drive: If you miss this fairway, carrying a huge/wide creek in 2 can become a serious challenge!! Don't miss this fairway!!!!! Luckily I hit the fairway and had 265+ to go.......my ball is in the left side of the fairway. LOL....it's the first time I brought a camera to my course and who'da thunk I'd make eagle here today....LOL...you can see my ball..... I normally hit a hybrid from here to lay up, but on this day I decided to smash a 3-wood. The end result was just short of the left greenside bunker: Our rough is thick/horrible, but I caught the best down-grain perfect lie on the entire course!!! The pin was back so I hit a simple 60deg pitch over the trap....and I'll be damned if it rattled the stick and dropped!!!!!!!! YEA BABY!!!......... It's In DA HOLE!!!!!!!!!!!! Check out our green surfaces....pretty nice, huh? I have lots of golf stories.......LOL
  15. Jack was an excellent BB player in HS and was recruited to play basketball for Ohio State. Had he accepted the offer....he would have been a member of the 1960 OSU national championship team!!!!!....he would have played along side of the likes of Lucas, Havlicek....and oh yea.... a guy named Knight played on that team too. (he rode the pine) LOL Jack was a baller..........no doubt about it!!!!!! He could handle both rocks...big and little.........too bad for him that he chose to Ohio State for golf. A big career mistake...Hahaha
  16. I'm all for it!!! Kudo's to this course for taking on slow play..... If it's a casual round, I believe in equitable stroke control dictating when to pick up. If you don't have a HC......the above isn't a bad place to start. All good suggestions, IMO........
  17. Yes, I am a golf junky............. ...and I am joining this forum as part of my 12 step program to help advance my golf addiction. I live on the outskirts of the frigid midwest and I average 100+ rounds a year. Booo Yaaaaa!!! ....and I love to talk golf. Hi everyone!!!
