  1. That video is perfect! Thanks a ton! I don't suppose anyone knows of a slow motion video that does a good job of showing the difference between shaft flexes? Or what kinda flex happens during a swing? I've been hoping to find one of a senior or women's flex shaft that really accentuates it.
  2. I'm hoping somebody can help me out here. I'm putting together a short simple instructional course to explain the physics of golf, and I'm gathering up some great slow motion videos. There's one video that I swear I saw on here a couple years ago, but now I can't find it anywhere. It was a very close up, super slow motion of a wedge hitting the ball. I specifically remember you could clearly see that the wedge had cut the ball. I wish I had more description than that. Also, I've been trying to find any kind of top down slow motion video of a slice or hook shot to show the initial ball flight direction. I'm starting to believe that hasn't been done yet, so I'm not getting my hopes up for that one. Thanks in advance!
  3. If I understand correctly, when you say soft grass top, you're referring to the "Turf Top" as listed on this page http://www.p3proswing.com/index.php/comparison/ Mine is the "Commercial Grade Grass Top". It comes with two courses, Desert Dunes and Highland National. I've never actually turned them on, I've only used the driving range, but you can see in the picture with the USB dongle that it comes with those two courses.
  4. Lowered the price to $450. If there's no interest, it will be going up on ebay, and I really don't want to have to deal with ebay.
  5. I purchased this package brand new in September 2011 for $800. I've only used it about 20 times due to lack of space in my house. Now, I'm unable to golf much due to wrist injuries, so I'm selling it for $450 + Shipping. I'm including the laptop that I use for free. The laptop is nothing special, but is good enough to run the software that comes with the p3. I'm in Lincoln, NE, so if you're interested and happen to live around here, I'd be happy to demo it for you. Otherwise, feel free to ask any questions.
  6. I like to play from whatever tees make me actually use my low-mid irons for approach shots. If I play from the far back tees, I'm constantly using a 3h or 4i trying to just get close to the green. If I play from the front tees, then I'm constantly using a SW. The middle tees are usually right for me because then I get a good mix of irons used during the round. And sticking a ball in the middle of the green from about 110-160 yards out is one of the most rewarding shots for me right now. So, for me at least, I get the most enjoyment out of whichever tee makes me use the most out of my bag, and right now, that's generally the middle/blue tees.
  7. An exciting 43 on the front 9 of the hardest course I play somewhat regularly. I had one birdie via a 30ft putt, 3 pars, 2 bogeys, and 3 double bogeys. 4 GIR which is the best I've done this year. The double bogeys were easy to fix mistakes, so I was pretty excited overall with my game.
  8. The phrase I kept reading after the masters was he had never had a "formal lesson". That can mean whatever you want it to mean really. I haven't had a formal lesson (i.e. one-on-one work with a professional) since I was 15, but I've received plenty of instruction through reading, recording my swing, and having friends that I trust critique me.
  9. Lot of good ones in this thread. The only real pet peeves I can think of are People that yell profanities when they screw up. I played with a friend once that did this constantly...he yelled loud enough for groups around us to hear. I won't be playing with him again anytime soon. People that want to compare their score to mine, but then don't count their score accurately or give themselves mulligans and whatnot. I don't care what other people do during their round, but at the end, don't start bragging that you beat me when you didn't play by the rules.
  10. I played my first 9 of the year about a month ago. Shot a 55 on a course I'd never played before. It was pretty disappointing since back in october, I ended the year with some of my best rounds ever (42, 43, 47, 42). I've rebounded well since that round and am back in the mid 40's.
  11. Just this weekend, I tried recording my swing with my phone and then with a usb webcam. I was trying to work on my hand position at impact, but both of those cameras were failing miserably. I've been looking at casio zr100s on ebay. I really wish there was a cheaper option to get to the 300+ fps range
  12. Just now saw this thread. I got some true tours a couple weeks ago and have played 45 holes in them so far. I'm a big fan of them. My only complaint is that after walking a long 18 holes on thursday, my arches were pretty sore. They're still even a little sore today. I'm assuming this is mostly due to my feet being weak from using shoes with arch support all my life. Anyway, these are the first golf shoes I've ever had where my toes weren't killing me after walking 18 holes. I love them for that. I've got some friends that might be looking into them too now. edit: I also wanted to mention that I ordered mine on a monday morning with the free shipping and got them on tuesday! It helps that I only live one state away from where they shipped from, but I thought that was pretty awesome. For size, I ordered the same size as all of my shoes (10.5) and they feel like the right size for me.
  13. I hit a duck hook that hit a guy in the back once in high school. I felt bad, but he wasn't hurt, and he got over it pretty fast. The worst one I've ever seen was during a tournament in high school. It was on a course that had several straight holes that just alternated east/west, and they were pretty close so slices would often go into the neighboring hole's fairway. My group had a kid that was pretty big...probably 6'5" and 250lbs. On one of these holes, as soon as he hit, all of us lost track of it in the sun. We were kinda scanning the fairway trying to see it come down, when we see a kid in the neighboring fairway lay his bag down and then kinda fall down on the ground. The ball had gone about 250 yards, taken one bounce, and then hit him squarely in the junk! He was still sitting there recovering when we got over there. He asked which one of us hit it, and we all pointed to the big guy. The kid that got hit seemed like he wanted to get into a fight over it until he saw how big the offender was. Poor guy struggled, but he finished his round.
  14. I've walked 9 a couple times in the true tours now. I really like them. As far as comfort goes, my feet don't hurt at all the entire time, which is all I ever wanted. One of the guys I played with was wearing some footjoys and I was telling him about my true tours. He said he experiences the same pain on his little toes after walking too much in his footjoys. At the end of the 9, his feet were hurting a little bit, and mine were doing great. Some other notes: I wore them to the range several times before getting a chance to play a round in them. They had some breaking in to do, as the left one was kind of digging into my ankle. It's fine now though. I was a little concerned about traction because I've never tried out a spikeless shoe before, but I haven't noticed any slipping, so all good on that front too. The zero heel threw me off a little at first. It took me a little while to reconfigure my balance, but I'm doing fine with that now. The first time I walked 9 in them, I did end up with a blister on the side of my big toe, which was weird because I didn't notice any rubbing or discomfort there. No blisters the second time though. Overall, I'm very happy with these shoes and I think they'll go a long way in helping me enjoy walking.
  15. Take the game more seriously. Make better use of those lessons dad is offering you. Make better use of the instruction your high school coach is giving you. You're gonna wish you're a lot better at this 10 years from now. I've been playing golf casually since I was 14 (I'm almost 28 now...so half my life), but I never really tried to get good at it until two years ago. At this point, I have much less time and I have to put up my own money to get better. I had great opportunities to improve back then, and I just didn't take advantage.
