  1. Nice thread revival...lol
  2. There's nothing wrong with that at all! I do however, understand where he was coming from though...
  3. No, I don't and that's my point. Cutler was called out by his peers for doing what he and the doctors thought best for his body. Unfortunately there aren't a ton of players in the NFL that would have done what Cutler did, as evidenced by the ridicule he received. I know it was only a handful of players that called him out...but there were FAR more players that were thinking that same thing and did the appropriate thing and kept their mouths shut.
  4. I started playing again in April with some hand me downs from my wife's uncle. In May I bought a set of cheap arse Ram Laser clearance irons from Sports Authority. At the end of August I picked up some Mizuno MP 32's from Instant Replay, here in town, for $189. Slowly I've been buying a club every couple of weeks...sometimes used, often times clearance items and the occasional new item. Without fail, after every item I purchase I tell my wife "No more clubs this year...promise." Unfortunately, it seems I'm having a hard time keeping that promise....lol I am thinking about picking up a Mizuno 2 iron at Instant Replay as well...it was priced at $59, but all their prices are negotiable...."just one more...I promise"...lol
  5. Just because someone thinks they "feel fine" doesn't necessarily mean that all systems are go. When I was playing football I wanted to be on the field at all cost. It was almost like playing through an injury was a badge of honor...even a concussion. I played football in Texas though, so it was a religion of sorts....lol. Having said this, I do believe there is always a little ego involved in football with regards to injuries and/or concussions. After all, you are going out there and sacrificing your body on EVERY play....you can't do that effectively and not have at least a small amount of an ego trip going on.
  6. I will say that, although swimming is a great core workout, for proper fitness I believe there should be some variance in fitness training. In other words, I plan on sticking with my cardio regimen and qi jong, and mixing in some free weight training occasionally as well.
  7. As a former smoker, I hate the smell of cigarettes now (but oddly enough enjoy the smell of a nice cigar). I wouldn't mind them being banned on the course....HOWEVER...I don't think it's within their rights to do so.
  8. Pretty sure that Bennet fully intended on throwing those competitions to pit himself against who he felt was weakest on his team. It might sound crazy, but if you really take a look at it, it's not a bad strategy. I still hope the pretty boy goes home soon though.
  9. I have been looking at the speedo website, and they have several different 12 week workout plans. Beginner, advanced beginner, intermediate, advanced and technique. Obviously I'm going to start with the beginner but I still intend on mixing in some cardio. After a little reading, I think swimming and golf might just go hand in hand together...lol. I'm off to the gym here in a bit to give this first swim a shot.
  10. This should be in some type of "Golf Bible" lol...
  11. It's NEVER too late to start playing golf, my friend....never...
  12. Breaking 80 your first year is fantastic...doesn't matter how difficult the courses you are playing are...unless they're par 3's...lol. Seriously though, posting a good score is about more than having the perfect swing. It's about knowing your limits, and managing them to the best of your ability. Having said that, I think you will find that as your handicap begins to lower it will become increasingly difficult to continue on in that path. So, once you're playing 10 off you will find it substantially more difficult to drop your HC to, say 6-7 off.
  13. You're probably dead on...he shouldn't play...BUT...something tells me he will. I agree also with the fact that most football players come back way too soon from concussions...it's an ego thing imho.
  14. Hello from the central valley and welcome to the forums!
  15. A par is a par...on any scorecard. As for a 5 wood, I literally NEVER had a use for one...so it only made sense for me to remove it from my bag in favor of a club that I would actually use on occasion.
  16. This is exactly what I had interpreted as well. However, the OP never mentioned whether or not the guy cleaned his ball after marking it, so I may have gotten a bit hasty there to begin with.
  17. So, by reading this, and looking back on the previous ruling I posted...would his ball not have been declared an interference? A ball on the putting green may be cleaned when lifted under Rule 16-1 b. Elsewhere, a ball may be cleaned when lifted, except when it has been lifted: a. To determine if it is unfit for play (Rule 5-3 ); b. For identification (Rule 12-2 ), in which case it may be cleaned only to the extent necessary for identification; or c. Because it is assisting or interfering with play (Rule 22 ).
  18. +1 Indian Wells was actually the first season of the series I watched, and was instantly hooked. Looking forward to sitting down with a nip of the scotch and becoming engrossed in it once again.
  19. This might be a bit off topic... To me, I've always viewed Tiger as an extremely prideful individual, and that's not necessarily a bad thing....BUT... When you take into account everything that has happened in his life in the recent past, I believe he needs to really work on becoming completely humble at this point in time. There is a vast difference between saying the words that make you appear humble and implementing those ideas and values into your life. Tiger WAS on top of the world, a super hero of sorts in the eyes of many. Goliath resurrected, even. Then it all came crashing down. I believe he needs to get back to the basics of life, realize he isn't superman and isn't going to pull off as many mind boggling shots as when he was 25, and really find a renewed sense of who he is. Even now, when he plays poorly, he admits it, but doesn't seem to be able to accept it. He feels like he should still be out there dominating the competition, instilling fear in the eyes of all who challenge and running away with victories like he just stole a pack of chiclets from the neighborhood grocery store. He simply will not do that ever again. He has to realize that, accept it and move on from there. Until this happens, I don't expect to see a TW victory.
  20. What do you guys think? Is Vick really concussed, or is he some kind of super-beast? The way that play looked on Sunday night, I would have thought he broke his damn neck...or at the very least a pretty good concussion and some whiplash.
  21. Bingo... /thread
  22. I'm pretty sure this covers it actually.... 22-2. Ball Interfering with Play Except when a ball is in motion, if a player considers that another ball might interfere with his play, he may have it lifted. A ball lifted under this Rule must be replaced (see Rule 20-3 ). The ball must not be cleaned, unless it lies on the putting green (see Rule 21 ). In stroke play, a player required to lift his ball may play first rather than lift the ball. Note: Except on the putting green, a player may not lift his ball solely because he considers that it might interfere with the play of another player. If a player lifts his ball without being asked to do so, he incurs a penalty of one stroke for a breach of Rule 18-2a , but there is no additional penalty under Rule 22 . ...Not to mention, if he cleaned the ball as well, I think it's another penalty stroke.
  23. I may be wrong, but I believe he should have played his shot first. Two yards in front of your ball would have been more than adequate distance for him to make a golf swing. I'm looking for a more clear ruling right now though...good question.
