nevets88, do you know Steve's last name?
-
SO you should cock them in the backswing and not release on the downswing?
-
Wrist cock is something that confuses me when it comes to S&T.; Not sure how it relates to the Flying Wedge they preach

Todays Golfer 21001 Ball Test?
jwalker497 replied to jwalker497's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
Did it give any driver distance numbers? -
I really need to see a current ball test. I came across this searching, anyone have the issue or had a chance to read it?? I am curious what kind of info it has. If you can share any details, I would appreciate it.

I remember Golf Magazine's Golf Ball Test a few years back - it was one of the best ball tests I have ever seen. Anyway, I remember being really impressed with the TM TP black. It had long distance and great spin all based on a 90mph test swing. Anyway, I was curious if anyone knew which TP black model was tested? I know there have been many iterations of this ball, LDP, Tour preferred, tour performance, etc and I am trying to figure out which model was actually tested? I also need to know if its sold still and if so where? So, I want to know what model was tested and if its still in production? http://www.golf.com/golf/features/flash/ballguide3.html

I would probably read a little more on the subject before posting to be honest, as everything you have said to dismiss the pattern is the opposite of whats taught, and opposite of the results that pretty much everyone sees I agree with Carpediem, I watched all the videos and nowhere did I see any mention of hands, let alone exaggerrated hands. Also, I found no mention of sliding lower body, the teach weight forward, period. I am a weekend golfer as well.

mY DVR stopped at the end of regular play, didnt get to watch the playoff, is there anywhere online that I can watch the 3 hole playoff?
-
The S&T; DVDs teach you hot to hit both shots and using their principles, I can hit both shots not 100% but pretty consistent. I naturally hit a fade and I am Right-Handed. Only with S&T; was I able to hit a draw or a slightly left push IMO S&T; favors a slight draw to begin with so everything they teach leans in that direction. To hit a fade do the opposite as they teach.
-
Agree as well. Keepingthe weight fwd and rotating around it has helped me tremendously. I don't fully understand the tilt part and have had improvements. Also the other biggest area of improvement is how they teach how to hit draws and fades - this worked for me and I have tried several times to hit a draw with no success. Wegith fwd and use their tips to hit a draw has eliminated the right side for me.

Wilson has a D25 and a C25. The D25s are the ones that are supposed to be straight and long -

Platinum Fitting by Golf Galaxy
jwalker497 replied to jwalker497's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have an issue with any indoor fitting regardless of whatever technology they have. Regarding lie angle, I really need to see not only the ball flight but also the divot and how I am striking the ball off grass -
Anyone have any expereince with the Platinum fitting offered by Golf Galaxy? Im wondering if its worth it or not? Any feedback would be helpdful?

One of the things this I have been doing this year is trying to really know my yardages. I am at the point where I really don't care how far I hit a club, I just want to KNOW what that number is. Course Mgt + lessons are really taking strokes off my game. This is my current setup and would like some feedback about my gaps, distances, etc My current driver SS is avg 90mph. Do these numbers seem right to you? Also one of the things I don't get is the 4H/7w slot. I know my distance for 5iron is 160-165y. I know my distance for my 7w is around 170-175y. What I don't know is where the 4H fits in there. The 7w is one degree stronger and 1.75in longer - Should'nt that make it significantly longer than the 4H @ 22*?? If I know my 5iron is 160-165y, so the 22H has to be at least 9-12yds longer than the 5iron putting it also @ 170yds. I don't get why that it is. Also Which do you think fits better in my setup the 7w or the 4H? GW - I have both Iron GW as well as Vokey 50* wedge. Just wondering which one you would use and why? The Iron is more forgiving on full shots whereas the Vokey is much better on chips, pitches, etc. I knwo most people say use the Iron Wedge if you hit more full shots and the vokey for more pitches, etc. But I use the GW in both applications so not sure how to make that decision LW - My LW is 60.10, I also have a 60.4 but not sure which one to go with. The courses I play vary in conditions so I don't think that's a determining factor. Anyone offer any advice. Is the 60.4 too low bounce? I looked at Golf Galaxy and outside of Vokeys, really no other brands offer anything lower than 60.7. Any ideas? Woods - 3+W & 4W - I use a TEE strong 3W as a backup driver when I really need to hit the fairway. I then use a Tour Edge exotics 4w which I hit great from the fairway, just wondering if you think I should move to a 3W 15* & 5w 18* setup to space out my gaps as compared to my current 4w 16.5* and 7W/4H setup? My thought was that at 175+ my accuracy is greatly reduced and I prefer having the 4W/7W setup since the chances of hitting a green are diminished at that distance and this saves me a spot for a long 3W. Any advice and though would be appreciated! 1. Putter 2. LW = 60* = 50y 3. SW = 55* = 70y 4. GW = 50* = 90y 5. PW = 45* = 110y 6. 9i = 41* = 120y 7. 8i = 37* = 130y 8. 7i = 33* = 140y 9. 6i = 29* = 150y 10. 5i = 25*= 160y 11. 4H = 22* = 170y (or 7w = 21*) 12. 4W = 16.5* = 180y 13. 3W = 13* (backup driver) = 200y 14. Driver = 10.5* = 230y

Can't find a ball.
jwalker497 replied to jwalker497's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I need distance but I thought that the tour level spinny balls would produce more fade or draw. SO I don't know where to find the balance, do I just go with a spinny ball all around or something like the Qstars that people have mentioned -
Can't find a ball.
jwalker497 replied to jwalker497's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I guess what I don't understand is this...I would gladly spend $45+ on a box of golf balls IF i knew they would provide me with that I am looking for as stated above. What I don't get is that most tour level balls balls spin more and trypically that means more spin all around = more spin on driver, more spin on irons, more spin on everything. While that may be good for working the ball, it's my understanding that more spin, off the driver or iron, means less distance. This is why I am looking for a ball that will provide straighter, longer ball flight off the driver with good to extrmely good spin off driver and wedges for control. Also I have heard that certain swing speeds wont benefit form tour level balls - is this true? Where do I fit in with a 90mph swing speed? I really need some help in making an educated decision as to what ball to play -
I need some help in trying to determine what golf ball to play. I singed up for golfball selector but it seems to be way too subjective to be very reliable. I hate all the brand specific fitting, they all seem way to subjective. Each time I do one of those, I get a different answer. I shoot mid 80s, I try to work the ball both ways with mixed results. I want it all = , less spin off the driver, more spin on approaches, etc and I like softer balls. I would buy tour level balls but I don't think they would make much of a difference for me as my Swing is about 90mph. I don't get to play as much as I'd like and when I do, I forget to really focus on what ball I am playing or how it acts. Any Ideas? Any feedbak on the new Q-star?

Cameron Ball Tool vs Putting Tool
jwalker497 replied to jwalker497's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
It's supposed to help you line up the marker to the line you want to put along, then you can position the ball's line (if it has one, or if you draw one) to it, so that you putt along your intended line. -
Cameron Ball Tool vs Putting Tool

Thanks but since you had both, which one is thicker. That's my queston, how do they compare in thickness? -
Non-Scotty Cameron Ball Tools
jwalker497 replied to Phil McGleno's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Sorry to bring this old thread up but I am comparing these 2 tools and just wondering which tool was thicker? I've read reviews that the Cameron tool is too thick and wanted to know how the putting tool compares. any info would be appreciated. SUBMIT -
I am considering picking up either the cameron Ball Tool and the Putting tool ( http://www.puttingtool.com/live/ ). The concern about the Cameron I have is that I heard it is thick. I am not sure if anyone has any info on the Putting tool but am wondering how thick the putting tools is as well. Basically, which one is thicker and what are the specs if anyone knows?

Sorry, I have not read all of this thread but just recently stumbled on S&T; (Terrible name btw) but I am having good success with it andI wanted to post my experience so far, in case some people are considering it. I just stumbled upon it one day while suring and I was like - hmm that kind of makes sense to me. I think it correctly identified my troubles and inconsistencies, So I gave it a shot - and so far I am impressed. I don't want to sound like a commercial and certaintly dont think its for everyone. I also don't understand why this is such a hot topic and all the tour wins and all that nonsense either. I just want to play better golf and I do believe this has helped me do that. It definatley was odd feeling at first with the weight fwd but I now think it really keeps me still during my backswing and which helps my ball striking and finding a consistent bottom of my swing. It feels normal now and am taking a divot which wasnt there before. Also, my short game has improved i find that I am putting more spin on the ball and feel like I can be more aggressive on approaches. I used to score in the low to mid 90s but have now been shooting in the 80s regularly. I think more practice regardless of S&T; would have helped my cause but I feel like I am actually golfing now. I have had 3 very good 9 holes stretches since using it where I shot 5 & 4 over had my first 9 hole stretch in the 30s - Par was 34 and I shot 38. That's great for me. I still have my mishits and have my occassional blow up hole but I do feel like I am progressing. Also I had, for years struggled with a slight fade off the drive despite a lot of work and practice trying to negate it and draw the ball. I always felt that golf requires both a fade and a draw and really wanted to be able to hit both shots consistently. Despite all my work, I never could draw the ball, Even after focusing on my path, face angle, etc, Finally, after using a very exxagerrated S&T; method, I am now able to hit a minor draw. I still not very dramatic but it does draw a little and even if it doesn't draw, it stays left. It's an awesome feeling when you say, I'm gonna stay left on this drive and do it. Or say I am gonna fade this and pull it off. for me that is one of the most addicting parts of the game, having control over your shot. Putting it where you want.

Thanks MiniBlue, I wasnt aware of that rule, glad you brought that to my attention - that answers that questions. Has anyone else have any experience with these? Anyone have the 46* I wonder how it compares to the 37*
