  1. So I've been debating some new wedges for a few months, as my sand was a generic clubhead on a crap shaft, and I don't have a gap wedge. So after much deliberating and club evaluation, I went with the 52-8 Vokey Oil Can, and the 56-14 Spin Milled Vokey. Gorgeous clubs, soft, easy to get the ball up, etc. So what happens? I have my first playoff game of the baseball season (Adult baseball, www.pssbl.com ) last night, and tear open my right hand on the soft skin between the thumb and index finger. Probably no golf for at least two weeks. :( :( Major bummer man. Now I can't even practice with the new clubs :P. Just had to share my joy and pain.
  2. How was battle creek? I've seen the sign for it many times on my way to Kayak, but never played.
  3. Other than the Lack of Par 5s, Lynnwood is actually quite decent. They have a nice putting green, a chipping area and a sand trap, and a decent course. In fact, my best 3 rounds have all been at Lynnwood, even accomodating for the low par of the course. Even some 180+ and 200+ yard par 3s.
  4. I'm also a north-seattle/south snohomish county golfer. I like to play at Kayak (already mentioned), Lynnwood (short, but otherwise decent), Jackson Park (seattle muni, pretty good, lots of up and down holes). Here's the best website for checking courses around seattle: www.seattlegolfguide.com I've actually been evaluating some private clubs in the north end, it seems like a pretty decent deal.
  5. First off, the 460 was $50 more expensive, secondly, I just don't like the size of the club head. I prefer the smaller heads.
  6. So, I went into Pro Golf Discount the other day to pick up a box of Bridgestone E6, when I saw they had a sale going on. As a ~20 handicap, I'm not one to really make much of new clubs as my mis-hits and bad puts are the problem, not my clubs. The only time I really blame my clubs, are when using my current driver, a 10 year old Taylor Made 10.5 Reg-Shaft Burner. Usually, I hit the ball in the middle of the clubface, occasionally towards the toe or heel (doesn't everyone?). However, on occasion, I'll swing under the ball, and the shallow clubface of the older driver will result in a 200 yard high 75 yard drive. This always seemed to happen on the long par 4s :(. Well, I saw the advantage of the new clubface design with the taller clubface and figured the big benefit for me would be no more high wood shots that I don't hit squarely. So, seeing the 9.5 TM R7 425 with a ProLaunch Blue R65 for sale at $199, I decided to swing it. Felt really good at the store, but I was skeptical if a driver, used at most 14 times a round would really be worth the money. Wow. What an AMAZING difference. My first round with the new club, with only a small bucket of balls to practice with, immediatley showed it's worth. For a guy that rarely finds the fairway, I found 7 of 13 fairways, with 4 of them just off the fairway. I didn't really turn that into reduced strokes, as I still had my fair share of muffs and horrible putts, but it's something to build on. Additionally, the off center hits (toe or heel) didn't nearly spin the way my old driver would. All in all, hurrah for new technology. Just thought I would share my story for anyone else that was skeptical of the new technology. Ken
  7. The biggest reason I like Jack, is I felt that he was pushed by the players he played with, wheras Tiger only seems to lose when he doesn't play his best.
  8. I play primarily at Jackson Park, one of the Muni courses in Seattle. It's a decent track, that's pretty inexpensive, but mostly, it's close to home. http://www.seattlegolf.com/jackson-park.php 6200+ Yards, 70/117 from the back tees.
  9. First post, I'm a software engineer lead for Microsoft in Seattle. I work on a little project called Photosynth: http://labs.live.com/photosynth/ Anyway, Hi everyone.
