I asked an innocent question whilst only half thinking in bed sick. I was in conversation mode. Perhaps you should have an experts only section so that idiots like me who have only just started on golf forums don't bother you. I expect to get wifey/bitchy/girly snipe replies when I'm trying to inject some reason or logic on Yahoo! Answers but you'd think a hobby forum where we all share a common interest would be a bit less that way. Why not just not answer the question if you think I should have googled it. But he didn't. He went out of his way to make a dig. the time it took to make the clever clever remark he could have just answered it. Who knows, you could have made a friend in the process. The Internet is like road rage. It makes people very brave because they can hid behind a screen. sorry thread starter.

I'm torn between 3 replies. I'll write them all. pick your favourite. A: no. I consider Sandtrap to be a better resource for golf Knowledge. 2: what are you, the Internet police? iii: here's my impression of you. , WHHHAAAA, I'm that guy on the Internet that makes sniddy remarks about people's posts WHHHAAA. that guy asked a quick question instead of researching the subject on his own. I'm gonna point it out instead of posting a quick answer that might be useful to other novices just glancing this thread wwwwhhhhaaaa. See when I post on forums on topics where I am an expert I am happy to quickly share my knowledge. That's why I post on them. I want the thing I'm passionate about to be shared and become more popular and understood. :-) perhaps it's because I'm so good looking, I don't know.

Pfft. Boast about flying much? ;-) My equivilant would be playing a round is Moscow in the morning, Copenhagen in the afternoon and hit Uk midlands round in the evening. Staying at the same distance from the equator yet getting progressively warmer into the evening.

Hi fellas. Im using SWING BY SWING on android on my ATRIX gingerbread. Im currently using the free GPS and it really is ace. Updates in real time is accurate and automatically goes to the next hole when you putt out(or goes to the scorecard) I just had the free trial on the scorecard and now im wondering if I should upgrade swing by swing or if there are better apps out there. Im totally sold on having an electronic card for casual rounds. Its quicker than pencil and card. Its attached to my trolley handle. It displays the yardage and when you get to the hole it presents options to input what you scored plus your tee shot direction and putts. From this it emails you your round and compiles stats like GIR drive accuracy and more. This feature is $12 and I dont know if this is good value. Im in the UK. they also offer a pro looper package that has some features that sound great but the $50 puts it beyond what the wife wont notice. I would think if the main package was $20-25 I would snap it up. Any alternate app for me must have the low fuss factor of SBS. Thanks guys. Technophobes need not reply. The future is happening with or without your consent. And while im at it... grammar, spelling and punctuation will all change drastically in my lifetime so chill out on that too. I call my trousers, pants and I consider emoticons to be punctuation :-)

Where do you place the most value in your golf game?
SpannersReady replied to bogey joe's topic in Golf Talk
Mostly I work on making solid contact with a driver so I don't look like a tit on the first tee which is in front of the club bar. You can't see where it lands but you do see if someone whiffs it. I guess that's why I suck within 100 yards but look ok off the tee. As a beginner (recently scored 96,96,120,109 and 97) my theory is: if I get the long game right first then I am at least playing my approach shots and lay ups from a realistic position. If I concentrate on my short game first then as my drives improve so will the club selection that I need for my second shot change. I put my drive up between 200-250 when hit straight and I probably will keep that distance for several years and may never get longer. But having got that going fairly well I have a second shot on par 4s between a 6i and a Pw to the green which I miss a lot right now but at least I'm practicing that instead of being 220-250 out and hitting a hybrid or laying up. I'm sure this not the standard approach but it seems to make sense right now. I might have another 40 years of golf left so I have time to work on my putting in years to come. But when I was rolling drives 150 it was just a frustrating embarrassing mess. Now that I have a shot at GIRs and putts for par often it feels like I'm playing Golf. My last 97 included a blow up of 5 consecutive OOBs on the 16th rough in a tight hazard surrounded lie. The pressure of being on to break 90 killed me. That could have easily been a 87 or 89 and I'm sure it will be soon. If I'd started by working on my putting then chipping and worked back Then I wouldn't be looking at chances to break 90 after 5/6 months (at my general ability. Others would take to it better I'm sure). -
I'm a football golfer. (soccer if you must) I started as winger in my teens with bags of pace. Then I settled into a striker role with shorter burts of speed. as injuries from sport and military service piled up I found myself dropping into a more midfield role into my mid twenties. suddenly in my late 20's I found that the young footballers suddenly had far more pace so I got pushed into a more defensive midfield role and then centre back. This year just before turning 31 I found that really my correct position is on the golf course. Started in July and I can't believe I only just discovered this game. I've never liked a game so much. just broke 100 this month and done it once more since. However my last round was 109. sad face.

The advice from the video stopped working! I hit out from a green side bunker and it got out onto the green but came back somehow and back into the bunker. There was no bank!! Double you tee eff! Then it happened again straight away. When I finally got out the shot cleared the green and ended up on the rear bank of another bunker. So I had a 45degree downslope lie from 20 yards with a bunker between me and the pin. I tried to pitch on but it shot out horizontal missed the pin and straight over the green into..... the first bunker. This is on a par three. I ended up with a sixtuple(?) bogey. I was a bit upset. Bottom line, it's your fault some how Stretch. You owe me 5 shots.

I think of a pitch shot having the divot infront of the ball. In the bunker you take a divot behind. Is that right. I was wondering the reason for taking the sand first. From a flat fairway bunker I have hit a mid iron taking no sand. Was that just lucky that I hit it ok?

Stack and Tilt??? Is it a hoax????
SpannersReady replied to outlaw1984's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
I'm no expert in golf but I went to one instructor who claimed to be S and T. Everything he did and said had all the hallmarks and red flags of an alternative medicine or a con artist. He is just one guy so it's not a large sample but it felt like a hard sell. He told me that the swing for a driver was the same as a 6 iron swing. He blew smoke up my butt for an hour and the swing itself just felt mechanical and rigid. iscas has already told me that everything I think about it is wrong and I'll bow to experience but I'm just sharing my experience. maybe it's because of 'rouge' instructors like the one I saw that people think that it's BS. -
JERK!! lol. and I repeated the feat yesterday with another 96!! even though I only hit 2 fairways all round. If you are using it in Android you must have an actual GPS enabled phone. if it uses mobile networks for your position it's useless but the GPR ones update step by step in real time.

At what point does a range-finder or GPS actually help?
SpannersReady replied to Roblar's topic in Golf Talk
As a newb to golf the GPS has helped me with course management. Inside 100 yards I find it hard to judge. I have a shot that goes 50 and knowing that I'm at 40 yards exactly tells me what percentage of my 'go to' 50 yard pitch to play. Also because I can't hit my 4,5 or 6 iron yet I have a large yardage gap from my 150 7i to my 190 3 hybrid if I find myself at 180 exactly I can choose to hit an easy 9 instead of over reaching the 3hyb. anything beyond 200 I need to lay up. Knowing the yardage means I can pick my approach shot and not just try to belt the living water out of it with my 3. -
Thanks Stretch. Watched this yesterday and played today. Nothing short of a miracle.lol. I only hit one bunker on the 18thdrive. I was forward in the trap with a fairly high bank infront of me and 120 yard to the pin. The sort where id normally be looking to just to clear the bank or go side ways back to the fairway. I followed this video advice and set up to play it and it felt odd as I had not practiced it. But I went for it anyway and with the help of a slope it went to within 60 of the flag. Thanks mate. I hope that wasn't a fluke. It felt great to play a real shot out of a bunker and I took much less sand.

Thanks but I don't speak Northerm.... All I heard was something about gravy? ;-)
