  1. 3w-180-230 4h-160-175 7i-125-150 9i-100-120 sw-60-90 As you can see with these 5 clubs I can cover most of my yardages. I have more than 14 clubs that I could carry but this setup is more consistant. I do it by choice I find it the most rewarding playing with a super lite bag.
  2. Played in a stroke play match with my friend and shot 88 on a par 72 course rated 68.6/113. I won by 12 with him shooting 100. We tied the last match we played so I guess I won the tie breaker.
  3. tour edge bazooka line would be something I would look at if I had a budget. I use two of them in my bag and they perform. They are also durable,my hybrid has a lot of miles on it. Also lifetime warranty for tour edge.
  4. I only use 3w and I feel like it gives me the best chance to score.
  5. I would go 5 clubs in my smallest carry bag. Hybrid,7i,9i,sw,putter. No par 3 courses in my area so never get to do it, but im only using 6 clubs in total on full length courses and it seems to me i'm just a tad more consistent with half a set of clubs, just the ones I hit best and I have went from shooting 45 for 9 to more like 42 so less clubs has meant 3 less strokes per 9 holes. My handicap dosen't always reflect it because my home course has a low rating because it's short but it is par 72. I played a very long course early this year with only a half set and played better than normal so it can help certain players.
  6. nice. Keep telling my friends to lighten the load and they would be shocked how well they play but still no takers.
  7. That is something I read I didn't know this until recently.
  8. Charles Blair Macdonald played with merely 6 clubs during a time when you could carry up to 22 clubs in your bag. He was disgusted by that notion, and I think he was right.
  9. No this happens to me too I'm thinking it has to do with playing conditions. Some courses that are bigger and "tougher" are more playable because they are taken care of better. I putt better on fast or "bikini waxed" greens so I normally play better on the bigger courses.
  10. I calculate my own it's not hard and I can update daily. Mine is current.
  11. shot a 41 today par 36. Got a birdie so that helped. Used just 6 clubs seems to make things easier.
  12. So I tried just 6 clubs today and played bogey golf like I normally do two long clubs, two mid clubs 7i,9i, and two short clubs sw and putter. I will be doing this again.
  13. thinking about dropping my aw to only have 6 then I will have a nice speed golf set.
  14. 46 for 9 holes today which is +10 where I played.
  15. 3w,4h,7i,9i,aw,sw,putter
  16. I may be a winner cause I only play 7 clubs in a sunday bag. I played 13 in high school and 10 after that but this year I went minimal and I am playing my best golf to date. Probably won't work for most but it's affective for me. I do have some other clubs in a back up bag but never use them. It's just a personal preference that I do it not saying it's the right way.
  17. I got the chance to play a course new to me yesterday called TimberRidge Golf Club it used to be private I guess but it's public now. Long course compared to what I normally play but I seem to shoot right around my normal for 9 holes. The rating for 18 from the tees I played was 70/119 but I only played 9 and shot 42. Fun day all in all.
  18. played quick 9 after work and shot a 45 par 36. With 8 clubs.
  19. I will be in the area for August 16,17. I will be playing the 17th if u want to join up for a round.
  20. I think Tom Watson is the greatest golfer of all time sure he dosen't have as many majors as some but He has played at a higher level for longer than anyone I can think of, the guy is 63 and still making cuts on the regular tour and in his prime he could beat anyone.
  21. change of plans won't be playing erin hills, instead I will be playing Washington County Golf Course which is more value per dollar. I have read that I will enjoy this course even more than erin hills.
  22. I hate the rust spots on there they get like tiny spots if you look real close I don't know why but it bugs me
  23. here's a question. what do you use to keep steel shafts looking new?
  24. thanks for the feed back. Yeah I was looking at the course map and it does seem like whites will be plenty long.
  25. I am going to play erin hills in a month and a half. From the website and any coverage I have saw this will test this 17 cap. Has anyone played here and if so what should I expect. Also still debating what tee to play from I'm thinking white. My score average this year is 89 so what do think should I take on the full course or play it from where mere mortals should play from. Comments and questions are welcome.
