  1. I too have bought & sold quite a few things on ebay over the years ... and have definately run into some individuals that didn't take it upon themselves to provide the greatest customer service. I think alot of people think of selling items on ebay as a yard sale rather than more of a business. I know when I sell something, I promise to ship within 2 days of receiving payment ... and I provide a shipment tracking number to my customers as well. I have had to escalate issues to ebay and paypal, and they usually do a good job of handling the issue. The only other thing you can do is leave negative feedback & comments about that seller so that other people are warned. I have never bought anything over a couple of hundred dollars off ebay though either ... if something is that expensive then I usually like to buy it from a reputable store (online or offline) that I know isn't going to be unreachable the next day. Sounds like you got a pretty good deal on the clubs gulfsidebo, maybe waiting a while longer for them to be shipped is a small price to pay for getting such a great deal? :) In any event, be sure to report the seller & leave negative feedback for them!
  2. Thanks for the info bklynbenz, but check out this information I got from the USGA Rules of Golf: ---------------- During a stipulated round the player must not use any artificial device or unusual equipment: (a) That might assist him in making a stroke or in his play; or (b) For the purpose of gauging or measuring distance or conditions that might affect his play; ---------------- So that seems to contradict what you're saying because item (b) specifically says that you can't use devices for gauging or measuring distance. Here's where I got my info: http://www.usga.org/playing/rules/rules_of_golf.html - click the "Rules of Golf & The Decisions on The Rules of Golf - 2006-07" link to open the popup - Rule 14-3: Artificial Devices and Unusual Equipment
  3. Any other opinions on the subject?
  4. Are SkyCaddie/GPS/Range Finders even legal? I was thinking about getting one, I've seen people playing with them in my local rounds ... but you don't see anyone on the mini-tours or PGA/LPGA using them.
  5. I pay $30 for a 1/2 hour lesson from my local pro (I have been taking lessons from him for about 5 yrs now ... usually one or 2 lessons per year). But, we usually end up spending about 1.5hrs in the lesson, and he absolutely won't take more money from me (I've tried to give him more). He's a great teacher. I have also paid $500 for a 2 day ESPN Golf School instruction program (which included a Taylor Made r580 custom fit Driver). My advice: finding an instructor you like and that really helps you ... priceless.
  6. Ya, that's exactly what I was thinking Thrdroc. Although my rounds usually consist of pars & a few bogeys ... the chances of me winning a skin by getting a natural birdie is probably alot better than me winning a skin from a 30 handicapper that got a bogey on a hole that he gets 2 strokes on. Thanks for the input!
  7. I play in a league that has weekly tournaments, and there are 2 side Skins games in most of the tournaments we play: Gross Skins and Net Skins. My question is: should I enter the Gross Skins or Net skins side games (or even perhaps BOTH)? Obviously the Net Skins game takes handicaps into account ... so someone with a 30 handicap still has the same chance at winning a skin as much as someone with a 2 handicap. Gross skins doesn't take handicaps into account, so it would seem only the better golfers would have a chance at winning a skin. I don't really know the number of golfers that are entering each of the 2 different types of skins games though. My handicap is about an 8, so I'm probably lower than the majority of the rest of the league members ... but there are definitely lower handicapped players than me. Maybe by my rational, I have a better chance of winning gross skins more than net because the gross skin playing field is smaller? Please help
  8. Shot 78 from the white tees (par was 71). Had a couple of holes where my tee shot got me into trouble and instead of punching back out into the fairway I tried to be a hero & make something out of nothing :(
  9. Tour Edge Comp 950 2nd set of irons I've ever had (my dad bought them for me). I'm hoping to get a new set of irons within the next year ... will definitely look to get fitted for a set (I really like the way the Callaway x20 irons look).

    Glove?

I wear a glove except when putting ... I like the feel of the putter without a glove because I seem to get better feel.
  12. I used to hate my 60 wedge because whenever I hit it, it digs pretty deep into the ground & I hit everything fat. I have now learned what the club can & can't do now. I don't hit full shots with the club ... I only use it around the green when I've short-sided myself & need to hit a lob. I only use it if the ball is sitting up and I can get underneath it ... open the club face and make sure to accelerate when striking the ball. :) If I can't get under the ball to hit a nice lob, I'll use my 56 degree sand wedge.
  13. I have a full time job, so I practice chipping/putting on my lunch hour and play a 9 hole round after work during the week. On the weekends I will usually play 18 holes on both Sat & Sun. My chipping & putting short game usually bails me out of whatever trouble my long game gets me in to. There are times when my long game gets pretty bad so I'll spend a lunch hour (or two) hitting long shot balls rather than chipping & putting ... but I'd say I spend 90% of my time practicing short game chipping & putting.
