C'mon o'Dea! second in chips starting in 2 hours plus he's irish
  2. this is nearly the exact same at my range, 250 is 220 etc to check the measuring tool all you have to do is measure something you know the distance of, for example i measured the football pitch i played on when i was younger. It was bang on so i trust the tool for courses etc now
  3. Looks like i need to head to a doctor. Its weird felt a slight twinge yesterday at the range but nothing to write home about but today its pretty bad. I think its just down to my general lack of fitness and also could have been something i done when i started playing again that i haven't given time to heal. I've been swinging a club to try pinpoint where in my swing i did it or where I am aggravating it but can't pinpoint anything. Better stop playing for now anyway, which I'm annoyed about due to yesterdays massive progress ( in my eyes )
  4. Just wanted to again state how great this club is ( 7i pro ) and i believe i have only barely touched on the full benefits. Played last weekend in what can only be described as swampy conditions lol and thought my game had fallen apart because i kept leaving these golf ball shaped gullies and getting really low flight. I now think the ground was just to soft for a high handicapper try to hit "down" ( I could be wrong and i was just terrible that day but anyway ) Went to the range today after taking a break to try let a shoulder / back issue heal, I'm literally astonished at my ball striking. Shredding balls from my 55 degree down to my 7 or 8i plus 99% of the shots went exactly where i wanted. My long irons were equally as good, i bought a 2i 17 deg hybrid a while back and have been struggling with it but today i was out hitting my driver ( i dont drive long in fairness ). I'd say out of 110 balls i had maybe five horrible misses and the rest smooth, good "feeling" shots. Sorry for the babbling, i realize it was only a range session and also that i will have days where i hit the ball terrible again, just the feeling off hitting nearly all your clubs flush to me was amazing. Edit: btw i was mixing the TS in every few shots and also hitting it really well =)
  5. Thanks but not paying what the putter is worth in shipping to Ireland ;)
  6. Thanks! Now to try find one haha
  7. You could be right mate, was watching him play today but quality was bad so i was squinting to try see which it was
  8. his is center shaft right? cant find many with a center shaft
  9. yeah i think so.. kinda looks like a 2 ball blade maybe? wouldn't mind knowing the exact model / year but cant find anywhere online that has that much detail
  10. Anyone know what model of odyssey putter Overton is using at the moment?
  11. thats the thing, I only started playing a few months back and feel i have made progress, I dont want to stop or seriously slow down for fear that i start to lose what little "skill" i have
  12. Oh right, i thought my post had been misinterpreted. still dont quite get it though
  13. Went and played a round of virtual golf last night at a new place that opened here. Full Swing Golf Simulators Full Swing Golf's unmatched level of realism and accuracy can be summed up in three words: BALL - FLIGHT - PERFORMANCE Full Swing's propietary, dual infrared ball tracking system has revolutionized the standards by which golf simulators are measured. By focusing solely on the flight of the golf ball, from a wide variety of simulated fairway, rough, and sand lies , Full Swing Golf gives the player the most critical information about ball flight, without limitations. Two 360-degree curtains of infrared beams emitted at 60,000 pulses per second provide immediate ball flight data. This unique combination of ball speed, launch angle, and real-time continuous visual ball flight has made the Full Swing system the undisputed leader in golf simulation. With thousands of simulators in operation around the world, Full Swing Golf has revolutionsed the game by creating the only simulator that truly replicates every element of the game of golf. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are for keeping your game together during winter? I enjoyed it but found the short game very strange, like 60 yard chips were near impossible to judge ( i hit a half shot with a 55 degree wedge and it flew over the green for a total of 125 yards? ) Putting on this one has to be set for 6,8 or 10 foot gimmes but even at that had a ton of three puts as i couldn't get used to not having a "real" view of the putt in front of me. It seems to read the spin on a ball a bit to much, like the guy i went with has a great draw in all his drives with an avg distance of 280 yards ( on real courses ) but the sim kept reading them as massive hooks. i also hit a lovely 90 yard approach to within a foot of the pin only to have it spin back 55 yards! We thought it was downhill but when we saw the area of the green it happened on it was actually up hill. I ended up pitching it again from the heavy rough. Played the old course at saint andrews and scored a 99 lol.. there are of course parts of the game u cannot simulate but I think it has benefits over just the range for winter. Thoughts?
  14. wow thats pretty crazy, fair play dude
  15. this is building into another "feel" argument, im out
  16. huh?
  17. I'm sure i will 4 putt ( again if i have already ) in the future but was only commenting on the remark that 100+/- players 4 putt once or more per round. @harmonious You mean to say the low handicappers and pros spend a lot of time on putting, because it is a very important part of their game. The high handicappers don't because it is not such an important part of their game. right? you can't have it both ways Lets put it this way, imagine you are a club pro taking on a student for his first lesson. He shows up and gives you all the points he feels he wants to improve on. He avg's 100 per round, has had 95 and has had 110 but wants to consistently break 100. You say great lets see you hit some balls. He then proceeds to slice, pull, top and every other variant of a miss for 50 balls with every long club in the bag ( yes this is an exaggeration but lets face it high handicappers all have at least one of these flaws if not most ) Are you telling me you would advise this guy to head off to the putting green and work on his short, mid and long putts? I seriously doubt it.
  18. yes there are many ways to learn the game but i think you have mistaken what helped your personally with what will help everyone else.
  19. You couldn't be more wrong. Speaking as one of "those people" although i have just barely broken 100, no amount of putting practice will make up for the fact that we struggle to get the ball near the green in 3,4 or 5 shots. I don't know about the rest of the golf world but among my group ( all high handicappers except one ) we are relieved when we finally get the ball on the green because we know its likely only 1 or 2 more shortish and hard to F up shots before we hole out. I read on this forum the best tip to break 100: Keep the ball in play . Can't remember who i am quoting here but it shows they actually know and understand the problems high handicappers have. For me at the moment putting is considered an easier part of the game ( its relative obviously ) ie as you drop your handicap putting becomes more important and therefore more troublesome. Give me 18 x 20 foot putts over 18 x 200 yard iron shots any day. P.S i don't think i have ever 4 putted, if i have it may have happened once.
  20. Haha
  21. Think i misread you OP on this bunker.. I'm possibly rotating to much so it doesn't matter how fast or slow I'm doing it its still to much
  22. Sweet! 5i or wedge hmm
  23. All great advice mate.. but No its not related to my TS purchase I noticed it a few weeks back and also no I probably have the slowest swing speed of all my friends who play. Its not a pain in the middle ( spine ), its left - middle like if you reach your left hand under your arm pit and try touch your shoulder blade. that's the region. Looks like i need to post a swing for a multitude of reasons now
  24. Hi Guys. I know this will be hard to determine without you seeing my swing but just looking for any ideas. I have noticed an ache on the left side of my back since i started playing again. I am slightly worried that I am damaging myself permanently as it doesn't seem like just stiffness from not using the muscles that way before. The following picture shows the area and possibly the muscle / muscle's affected. Sorry i just picked the first picture that came up. So I'm thinking its one of two things, 1) During my back swing i am not rotating my hips enough so all my turning motion is from the shoulders causing the muscles on my left side to stretch to far 2) I need to get my clubs fit to me ( All standard spec ). I'm 6'3" and have always presumed i need longer clubs because of this. Could i be stretching something by crouching down to much? Just worried as I'm only 27 and don't want to give myself back problems by continuing to do something that is damaging me. Cheers
  25. So impressed by LUUUKE yesterday.. I think he has proved without doubt he is deserving of his no.1 spot.. major next year i think
