  1. People always talk about how they cant stand seeing someone wait 230 yards out and to wait for the green to clear. Everyone always says they should go ahead and hit, because the person will probablly top the ball 15 yards. When I'm standing 230 out from the green I always wait. Yeah I'll only get near or on the green, probablly 2 times out of 10, but to me it seem better to be safe that sorry. What do you all think about this.
  2. http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?s...WDn9oKfg_3d_3d I was doing a project in school and was wondering if anyone would be willing to take this short 10 question survey about the right to bear arms. Any responses will be greatly appriciated. Thanks!!!!
  3. In a real round with no freebies or anything like that-41. No joke. My short term goal is to get down into the 30's. The other day on 9 (very difficult) holes I shot a 44 with 21 putts. I only had 3 3 putts on 9 holes. I am so awful at putting it is crazy.
  4. I was wondering how confident does the average high teens handicapper feel. I see people on here with a worse handicap than me talking about hitting 85-90% of all fairways, or about how from 180 yards they are money or how they never miss a 5 foot putt. Am I just getting lucky? I only started a few months ago so this may be part of it. I probablly miss half of the fairways. Some times I will bomb one 280 or 290, but for every one of these I have a topped ball, swing and miss or terrible slice. From 180 I'm hardly thinking about puting it on the green. I feel like there are people who score worse than me but are better golfers. When I get ready to swing I'm still thinking just make solid contact, and not worrying a whole lot about where it goes. So I was wondering whats the deal. Are these people not as good as they say, am I lucky or is it something else.
  5. thanks for the advice.
  6. Thanks eore Is the driver old enough for an upgrade to make a big difference?
  7. I agree that the irons need to be replaced. Should I go with graphite or steel shafts?
  8. I just started playing about 6 months ago and carry a handicap in the mid to upper teens. Im graduating from high school this year and recieved a 500 dollar gift card to a golf store. If you had this and my clubs which would you upgrade first. I am hopeing to get the handicap down around 10 over the next year. I know that may be a bit much but in 6 months (4 of playing outside, other 2 just inside stuff putting, chipping) im down to an 18. Then I'd like to play at a D3 college and be close to scratch by my senior year of college. Right now I carry a driver about 240-250 (25 or so of roll) and a 7 iron about 155 yards. Thanks in advance. TM Burner 420 (5 ish years old but it was bought when it first came out)-Very Good Condition SV3 3 Wood (Brand New got it for free w/ upgraded graphite shaft)-New Cleveland 2 Halo Hybrid (Bought used for $45 steel shaft)-Excellent Yamaha Carbon Secrets 3-PW (10 yrs old w/ graphite shafts)-Good 52, 56, 60 F2 Wedge Clones (4 months old)-Excellent 60 Aspire Lob Wedge (6 months old 15 dollar walmart special-use sometimes in place of other 60 wedge)-Very Good Ping Gi5 Putter (6 months old)-Like New So if you had 500 dollars to upgrade what would you do (besides lessons, because I having them too)? I was thinking maybe getting some Ben Hogan BH5 irons and maybe a Nike SQ 460 5000 Driver. Ive seen both going for around 200 dollars and have heard great reviews of both. Once again thanks for any imput.
  9. Why do you care what other people play. I guess you'd not like me as a golfer because my only "real" clubs are a 10 year old TM burner 420 and a Ping Gi5 putter. My 3 wood Sumo close hits just fine. Now im gonna get a set of R7 clones for about $100. Oh yeah I have iron covers, a chipper and face foward wedges (F2 clone). Big deal, I like these clubs and its funny because you probablly think I suck, but in 4 months I already have a better handicap than you. But its all ok I hate all people who dont drive a 125,000 dollar car. (Actually jk, I drive a 20 year old $345 ford tarus--hey another thing for you to hate me for )
  10. Wow some of you all are wierd. You act like the guy murdered a family or something. He killed a BIRD. I am by no means advocating killing birds randomly, but have any of you ever hunted, eaten a hamburger or hit an animal in the road with your car. Animals are not and should not be treated humans (even dolphins and whatever other animals you want the death penalty for killing). Everyone says it was an easy shot and he knew he could hit it. Do you realize how far away 75 yards is --- 225 feet. Even Tiger could not easily hit a bird maybe a foot wide and a foot tall with a golf ball under two inches in diameter from 225 feet away.
  11. anyone know anything about these?
  12. First, a little about my self. I am 17 and have been playing since the end of this summer. I swing right around 100 mph and have gotten my handicap down into the teens. My irons are 10-15 years old, I'm guessing (neighbor's basement special ). They are yamaha carbon steel secrets. Does anyone know anything about these--I don't really know if they are good or bad. They have a graphite shaft on them, but the writing on the shaft is worn off, so I don't know what kind they are. Should I think about upgrading?
  13. First off I want to say sorry, my last post may have sounded a bit rude. I just didn't like how some people *cough* Q.Q.Quillume *cough* acted like I didn't care about golf and didn't deserve to play. I understand the rule and agree it is necessary but that doesn't mean I have to like it.
  14. Wow you guys need to calm down just a little bit. Q.Q.Quillumep- Well it might have a little bit to do with the fact that I started playing golf (for the first time in my life) on July 29 of this year and the season started on August 15. We had 4 seniors graduate and they needed a person to play. I play baseball and do well in that so the golf coach asked me if I would play. And hey look, after playing for only about 4 months (haven't played in december or January) I have just as good of a handicap as you do. I didn't know this and it was completly accidential. I'm not saying I shouldn't have been called for this, I was just answering the question asked. I don't like that rule.
  15. I was playing in a HS tournament and was called for a 2 stroke penalty for hitting a leaf off of a tree in my practice swing. Not sure if this is a real rule or not, but if it is its retarded.
  16. I honestly don't mid playing behind slow people. To me by playing golf you are trying to relax outside, but getting all worked up about slow golfers just goes against this. For me its gotta be snobby, arogant and rude golfers. I'm not trying to sterotype but it tends to be rich people. There is a nice course my High School team played at ($100 ish per round) and the people were so arogant. They wern't going to let us in the clubhouse to go to the bathroom. People like this need to calm down, realize that thew whole world doesn't revolve around them and have a little fun.
  17. It might help a little, but at a 36 handicap that small of an equipment change probablly won't be noticeable. I would use what ever club you were more comfortable with.
  18. Dent you took the words out of my mouth. Don't go dissing 15 year olds (actually 16 year olds). Im 16 and started a few weeks ago. Today I shot a 52. Not all teens are annoying, know it all liers,
  19. I think you can. Ill give you 10 % if you really have the intangibles you say. Ive only played a few games and today I shot a 37 on 8 holes (thunderstorm).
