Started playing about 8 years ago Perimeter weighted cavity back irons have been the "way to Go" by most accounts. I tried about 3 or 4 different sets of these TM LCG's, TM 320's, TM SS and then Titlelist 504 cb's. Then while at a demo day last August I tried a new set of Titlelist 695 mb's. Like night and day. straighter shots more distance incredible feel. I have since bought 2 sets of 690 mb's and a set of Mizuno mp 32's on ebay. sorry but the cavity perimeter weighting doesn't work for me.

My son has that same set you have Nice clubs I used them before I got mine from ebay. I didn't notice much difference with the full set of MB's vs the progessive set you have.

I accidentally started using blades. Like you I lived with the general concensus that "blades are hard to hit and only for low handicapp solid ball strikers". One day at my local course this summer there was a Titlist Demo day and the clubs I wanted to try some Cavity back Cobras were in really poor condition. they looked like they were ready for the dumpster. They had a brand new set of 695 mb's so I thought what the heck and started hitting with them. I felt like I was putting on a clinic I bet I hit the practice green from 150 yards with a 7 iron 6 times in a row. The feel was phenominal. The only problem was they cost big bucks so I went Ebaying and got some lightly used mb 690's for cheap $. That was in mid august of this year since then I have droped my handicap by 1.5 strokes. Hey if they make me look cool then I guess I'll have to live with that

I agree I decided to give the blades a try(Titlelist 690 mb's) and was very surprised how easy they were to hit. I liked them so much I have bought two more sets. One for my vacation getaway and one which I keep hidden in my pickup truck for practise when ever I drive by a driving range. I have a theory on this subject. Basically your average golfer who gets out 2 or 3 times a month needs a mental crutch and is more than willing to accept the "cavity back koolaid" solution. If that works for them great but if you start to take the game seriously then don't be afraid of trying the blades.

I just switched to forged clubs. I have been playing for 8 years. I play a lot of golf usually at least 3 times a week and at times everyday. I am told that you need to play frequently to appreicaite the blades. I am a decent ball striker with a very repeatable swing which has probably made it easier for me. If you play a lot I think you might benefit from the blade style club. A weekend warrior who plays once or twice a month would be better going with cavity IMO

I agree "feel" is probably the most important aspect of the golf stroke IMO. Also using blades does force you to make better swings. One might look at this as a reason to avoid using blades but the up side is that by using blades your other clubs respond better. I find my drives more accurate because I use better fundamentals in my swing then I did previously. the bottom line is if you only play once a week or less you would be better served using a more friendly game improvement product but if you have the golf bug and can't play enough then it might worth your while to try a set of forged musscle back blades.

Nick Faldo's announcing sucks the guy is dumb jock with a english accent that he thinks makes him intelligent. I'd say Kelly T. is hot stuff no matter what side of the plate she hits from. Maybe she is a switch hitter thats an interesting thought also Kelly is a very good golf analyst IMO.

I heard Jack Nicklaus wears a size 9 so I figured that it would make me play better. I normally wear a 12. By the third hole my toes were bleeding and my ankles were swollen the size of water melons. I think I would rather shoot a higher score and be able to walk normal.

Avon makes a great knockoff of the Dual durometer. I just ordered another set for a set of Muzuno MP-32's. Golfsmith has mid size(+1/16") in these andGolf works have Jumbo versions (+1/8"). Nice grips at a good price $2.79 each. I am not a fan of the corded grip too hard. I don't use a glove.

I agree swinging a blade you can not get lazy with your swing. If you do you get reminded immediately that you are not swinging correctly via bad feedback. The upside is that you do make better swings on average and your shots improve with all your clubs as a result.

I have been playing with a set of 690 mb's for about six weeks. I think the response of a mishit is worse using the blades but the actual ball flight produced by the mishit blade is not much different then the mis hit cavity back. I have been playing with cavity for eight years before that I doubt I'll ever use them again.

I have the skycaddie. My experience has been positive. The only down side seems to be the batteries need to at or near full charge to work correctly. If I try to use it with a half charge it has a hard time aquiring and holding a signal. I have the SG3 model which uses regular batteries. I find I use it when playing away from my home course but I really don't need it on my home course.

I hit the 695 MB's at a DEMO Day and really liked them. Actually that is what made me try mussel back clubs. The truth is I couldn't justify the price of the 695's (kids in college). So I picked up a set of 690's on ebay for short $.

I have just started hitting mussel backs specifically the mb 690's. Great clubs and more forgiving then what you have heard. Just wondering if the MP 32's would be as good or maybe even better?

I have to say that cavity backs do not make hitting balls any easier. I would say that if you have a tendency to slice or fade the ball then the blades probably will not work for you as well. I hit a natural draw and find the blades to be less offset. Keeping that in mind if you hit a draw/hook as opposed to a Fade/Slice then you might consider the blades. BTW the feel of the blades is truly buttery smooth

I have gone to fordged Blades Titlelist 690 mb's. These clubs are easier to hit hit then you might think. I tryed them at a demo day early this summer and was amazed at how easy they were to hit. Since then I have bought two sets on EBAY one for massachusetts and one for my Florida getaway. Now I am thinking about getting another set for my mini bag I keep behind my seat in my pick up truck.

Just played another round using blades for irons(690 mb's) made shots that I never coud have dreamed of with my old cavity backs. I hit over tall trees that I would never be able to clear with my old irons. Hit an 8 iron 150 yards over a bunch of tall trees protecting the green and made a easy 2 put par. I am a mere 10 handicapp but these are easier then the cavity back junk that everyone promotes.

Just curious what do you consider a low handicapp?

Good suggestion I use the blades 5-PW for scoring irons basically for me 170 yards in and hybrids for distance shots.

IMO I'd say don't judge any club particularly irons by hitting them on mats. A sledge hammer would feel great especially on a new mat.

I'd agree that a 17 handicapp probably doesn't have consintent ball striking ability. But in your case I think you may have bought into what I believe is a myth that blades are only for scratch golfers. I have played about 6-7 rounds with the 690 mb's and have found the mishits to be no worse then with the cavity backs except the feed back is immediate and not very pleasant. The ball flight is no worse with either however. I'd suggest that you get a cheap set on Ebay and give them a try.

No your rounds were in the 80's period. You can't say oh my putter let me down hence I really would have shot in the 70's. My handicapp has gone from 7.5-10.9 all playing with cavity backs after struglling with my cavity backs I switched to blades my handicap has drop from 10.9 to 10.2 in the first month using the blades. I find the 690 mb's to be the most solid feeling club I have hit. More distance higher ball flight and more accuracy. All the things that the club shops say you'll give up if you try them.

On a whim and against just about everyone I talked to I bought a set of used 690 mb's from Ebay. THese clubs are unbelieveable and nothing has better feed back then these clubs. I feel like I shaved ten years off as I am hitting the ball much further then my old cavity backs. Has anyone else had that experience?

I like the Pro-V1's whenever possilbe I have a Swing speed of about 95 mph. I hit a good drive 240-260. I'd say you might find the prov1X alright for you. Keep in mind you might find that the X doesn't stop as well as the 1 on approach shots to the green.
