I don’t know what sand they used for the bunkers near the greens. But if my memory serves me well, which is questionable, it is very soft and unforgiving. I’ll also be using the putter as much as I can near the greens. My short game still sucks. Haha- 438 replies

Well at least we know the sand is a natural characteristic there. 😊 It is supposedly around 200’ deep in some spots.- 438 replies

That is perfect for air travel to resorts with a par 3 course. Great product. Yeah the longest hole is pretty short, I think 3-4 clubs total for most of us will be fine.- 438 replies

Yeah I think it will be great for that, and also for getting used to the bunkers. They are a bit tricky to hit out of. I'm actually thinking about brining a Sunday bag for the Sandbox rounds. Something to consider I guess with only needing a few clubs.- 438 replies

You are all very welcome, this is a dream trip for me to plan. I am glad we have two groups because three would have been a real mess trying to get tee times. haha The longest hole on the Sandbox is 145. I'll probably just bring a few wedges and my putter. That will be nice for a light and easy going round on that course which is I think 17 holes. The customer service agent today told me it takes around an hour and a half to play it.- 438 replies

Thanks guys, crazy day for me here with everything going on. I called at exactly 8am(I also initially tried at 7:30😂)and requested the tee times. I was super happy that we were able to get times where we are all back to back. I was really worried about that. Ideally @iacas and I wanted to play the sandbox in the afternoons but the resort guests had all those times book. In the end I am glad I called as quickly as I did and also was able to get the times we did. We would have also liked to play SV on day one but overall it is pretty solid and could have been much worse. I am sorry for the first day as it might be a bit early for some but there wasn't anything really better for times available and SV was pretty much booked up already.- 438 replies

I will be relieved to finally have our tee times today. We will see what they will have available but per the last post from @iacas, we spoke a bit yesterday on what we would ideally like the three days to look like. We are finally getting some rain the past couple days, so hopefully that will help things here a bit. I have to make the tee times this morning and run to an event, but I will update you all as soon as I can.- 438 replies

We have had a bit if a dry June so far so we will see. It can look a bit dry out there but they also intentionally allow the fairways to get that way a bit.- 438 replies

Cool Disc Golf Courses/Holes You’ve Played
cipher replied to dagolfer18's topic in Disc Golf, Foot Golf, Etc.
@Tepi90I know I am late to the party, however, those are some amazing photos. I would love to travel there to play sometime. Finland and Estonia seem to be leading the world id DG course design. I wish I took some photos of it but playing Rollin' Ridge here in Wisconsin was quite incredible last year. Nearly every hole was great. -

Sounds good, I only take crypto as payment, limited to BTC, ETH or ADA(preferably this). 😉 We will figure it out, the good news is we have a little more time for all that with having to wait until 30 days prior. I have both PayPal and Venmo for payment methods. This will probably be the perfect opportunity to start the private messaging group for all of this.- 438 replies

I called and struck out on getting tee times a "little" early, they are holding to the 30 day policy. I will call Saturday June 19th and have them run it all on my card. They did say I can do all three days on that day, and that I can book both the sand box and one of big courses ahead of time. We are likely going to have to be a little flexible with play times. It is not like we are going to have anywhere else to go however. 😊- 438 replies

I voted no. Mainly for all the reasons already mentioned. They shouldn't have to do it if they don't want and I don't have to watch any of it either. The numbers are showing a growing number are choosing to do the same. It has always meant something to me.

I thought we would maybe schedule SV for day 1, Mammoth for Day 2 and then split the group up Day 3 if each group has a preference. If anyone would rather do it differently, let me know soon. I do plan to call next week to see if I can somehow convince them to get us booked.- 438 replies

Yeah I agree, I don't know that a forecaddie is a huge value here. Each group can just buy a yardage book and you should be fine. I'll give everyone some hole by hole tips for Sand Valley. Mammoth is supposed to be even easier. It's a bit tough to explain but the course is just designed for fun, fast play. Picking your shots easily, finding your ball easily and playing quickly. There aren't many blind shots out there. Hit the ball far, find it easily and hit it again. There you go, I just saved everyone hundreds. 😂- 438 replies

Yeah the slope and width of the fairways are nice, and they don't really water it much(or at all) out there which will be to the helping side of things. Course Conditions Firm and Fast The golf courses at Sand Valley feature fescue grass in our fairways and "rough" hazards and bent grass on our greens. These are types of grass that provide firm and fast playing conditions that mimic the playing conditions at links courses in Scotland and Ireland, where the game began. Brown is Beautiful At Sand Valley, you will find tawny brown/green fairways and greens as a reflection of our firm and fast conditions. We believe the faded green turf on our golf courses presents the most enjoyable form of links golf. What Does this Mean for You? While every player chooses to play differently, playing on firm and fast playing conditions generally forces the player to use the “ground game” (putters from off the green, bump and runs with a lower iron, etc.) to his or her advantage instead of trying to use lofted wedges to try to control the ball through loft and spin. The firmer playing conditions mean your ball will generally roll out much farther than you might be used to and that it can be harder to pick the ball clean from the fairway. Thanks for the help with your group's tee day 4 and 5 tee times. That is one less thing for me to coordinate. As we get closer to this thing we should start a PM group to coordinate some things. I have a few details and things I need to go over as everyone arrives Sunday afternoon/evening. For example, come hungry. 🙂- 438 replies

Many tees are elevated, the ball is going travel a long way with the warm weather and the design of the course. I think everyone here who I already know or have seen hit the ball should be fine.- 438 replies

That second trap at 316 to clear from the tips I definitely will have to consider. I can't clear that. Maybe Matt can. 😊 Bogey is a win for me as well.- 438 replies

I "tried" to play just to the right of that first larger sand trap finger and pulled it. Caddy told me I would be in the second "Lake Michigan" trap but I carried it somehow. I am guessing we were playing the sand tees on this hole. We played orange/sand combo if I recall. I had about 85-90 in and bladed my shot over the green. Don't go there. Haha It is very wide, that is why it is tough to lose golf balls out there. #9 is about one of the only holes you can lose a ball. Water to the right and front of the green. 285 to the front, elevated tee. No driver for you, haha. Very fun risk-reward hole.- 438 replies
