  1. I always use the 20% rule...more if they do a great job- Not sure what the rules are with Caddy's, but most servers are on thier tips, as if they recieved 15%...whether they actually did or not...
  2. Maybe you didn't read what I wrote completely... I said, long AND straight and accurate... If you can get 10 extra yards out of a club, with high launch for a soft drop, without having to go down a club (lower lofted, longer shaft) I have found it to be an advantage. I hit all of the clubs I tested side-by-side...and time after time, was able to hit the target with more loft and accuracy with the Burners... Obviously hitting the ball long but not on target is counterproductive...but the extra loft allows you to drop the ball softer, with more spin...more control. Or maybe you just have the proverbial complex with the length of your club?
  3. Anna is much prettier...Natalie has the rack... but whenever I have tried to watch her show, I can't help but get the "Brittany Spears" feel about her...and that DAD of hers...holyfreakinshirt what a dirtbag! If we are going with women of sports... I would take either sports broadcaster Erin Andrews or skater Katerina Witt over the other two any day... REAL women with REAL curves!
  4. Not sure if the term applies, but he is certainly on my "big jerk" list... He is the Barry Bonds of Golf...without the 'roid booster shots. When I think of the class of golfers that used to be and continue to be golf heros (Arnie, Jack, etc.) and compare them to many of the spoiled, over-paid punks who now seem to infest the game, I am upset that anyone even gives players like Sergio and Rori any attention whatsoever. Sergio is a classless bum...
  5. I live in Eugene, Oregon...we are slowly becoming Northern California...I have been golfing 4-5 times a week since mid-March...but the winter rain seems to be starting early this year. Three rain days in a row- first time since May that has happened! I guess I'll turn into a "range rat" for the next 3 or 4 months...
  6. I just started this year, but have had the chance to play 4-5 times a week- so I too am a mid-teens handicap. I started out with a set of custom-made clubs from Fiddler's Green our local pro shop- but felt that I had reached a plateau in that they could deliver... I demo'd no less than 10 of the most popular clubs (Hot List, mags etc.) including the newest releases clubs from PING, Callaway, and Nike and just ordered a new set of the Taylormade Burner XDs. For me the differences in the feel, distance and accuracy were glaring. I was hitting between 8-10 yeards longer on every club, and the loft of each shot was amazing...nothing I had been able to ever achieve. What is even more amazing to me, is that the clubs are de-lofted...most being 2-5 degrees shallower loft than the average set- and yet I was hitting high, pure, clean shots that dropped softly onto the target. Now- I am just waiting for my set to arrive...it is going to be a long two weeks. Give them a try if you can find a place to demo them. For those of us in the low-to mid teens, these seem like a real chance to break us into a single digit handicap.
  7. I own a company that provides Internet services to Broadcasters. I am off by 3 PM every day...allowing me to wallow in my newly acquired golf addiction.
  8. OK... so I am one of "those guys" who made fun of the game my entire life. After playing football, baseball, rugby, tennis, racquetball and sailing for almost my entire life, I just couldn't see what the big deal about hitting a little white ball could be. It didn't help that my little sister (10 years younger) is an LPGA teaching pro- as she loved to tell me that the game was much harder than it looked, and I was afraid to find out! Last summer, I was coaxed into playing a high school reunion golf tournament (35th!!!) and bought a cheap set of lefty clubs. I figured that since I hit lefty in baseball (although I am a natural righty) that I would hit with more power. I could. Only as you can guess...my three trips to the range before the tournament yielded lots of length...with NO CONTROL! My sister convinced me to play righty (she is a natural lefty who plays righty), so I traded my crappy used lefty set, for a crappy used righty set, and played the tournament...thankfully it was a 4-man scramble...so I couldn't really hurt anyone. Had a blast. Cut to Christmas...my wife and kids decided that I am hard to shop for, and rather than get me books or tools or clothes, got me a gift certificate for clubs, lessons and all other sorts of golf stuff at our local (and amazing) pro shop, Fiddler's Green. Bought some clubs...took some lessons...spent the first month at the range five days a week...bought some more clubs...started hitting the course 4-5 times a week...and am now compeletely addicted. I have continued the pace of 4-5 times a week since March...and have whittled my handicap down to a 17.9. As we live in Oregon, I am already dreading the long, cold, wet winter....and have stated that I am not going to be one of "those idiots who golfs in rain storms," but fear that I may have no choice but to become a "range rat" that pops out every time the sun shows it's face, or at least breaks the clouds enough to coax me from my office. What a wonderful game! I only regret I didn't start sooner...although I'm not certain I could have afforded the time or expense when I was younger. Nice site! Nice place to hang when I can't be outside playing!
  9. I just got a 2, 3 and 5 in the Tour Edge Bazooka QL Iron-Wood line. I LOVE them. I almost never use my 3 wood, except for tee shots, anymore. What I have found, is that the loft these clubs give me, witht he control of an iron, is the perfect combination for the second shot on long par 5s and par 4s. I can hit the 2 around 220 yards with good accuracy...the 3 around 200, and the five in the 165 range. I have simply stopped using my woods off of the deck completely.
  10. Love my Burner... sold my Quad to get it... 'nuf said...
  11. I posted this in another topic...but didn't want to re-type...but it applies here...so sorry for the RP!!
