I also narrowed it down to ap2/1 after testing everything on the market. Note that I actually did NOT & DO NOT want to play titileist, for some reason I just don't like the brand. Yet I play with ProV1's, vokeys & Ap2's... Looking at my hcp & what I was looking for in my irons Ap1 should have been the logical choice at the time. But it was a no brainer, the ap2 just felt soooo good. I have not regretted going with them even once.

which project x shaft is best to put in ping i0
MyEyeSpy replied to shotstop_10's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Ask if they can softstep a 6.0 or hardstep 5.5 once or twice, same thing as getting a number between the lineup as has been said. But if you ask for 5.7 straight out, that you can not get as a direct product. However, hopefully if the person you talk to knows what he is doing, he will know how step them to get what you ask, like a fitter will ;) You really should get fitted, ask around, it is not overrated. If anything, it is underrated. Could be that you need the shafts to be longer/shorter, could be that you need to alter the lie, could be that you want to slightly alter the loft on one or more of the clubs for higher/lower trajectory or more/less distance on that club. Most stores offer a fitting where the cost of it is deducted from the ordering price, as such in a form it is free if you order from them. Does not cost anything extra to have a special order & as we just cleared up does not cost extra to get fitted if you go to the right place, so why not? I have x100 in my AP2, they are basically as iacas says right in the middle of 6.0 & 6.5. On a sidenote, if you have longer than regular shafts, they player softer. If you have shorter, they play harder. -
I'd say it is somewhere between v1 & v1x. All from my own subjective experince. v1 is the softest & spinniest, no doubt. v1x is the hardest. I can't say if v1x or IX spins more than the other, v1 spins more than both tho, quite a bit. On & around the green - V1 has the most feel, followed by IX & last v1x (of the 3 ^^). I play v1 for the feel & spin, if I wanted a ball with more distance it would be ix & not v1x I think, however I would play I over IX any day.

Anyone have a "strange" club in your bag?
MyEyeSpy replied to JessN16's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Every now & then a lovely 2 decade old 70 degree wedge comes with me, lovely thing ^^ Stops on a dime -
Vokey, & I did, even tho I hate the look of them & love the cg12/14 design.. They simply are just that much better. The face really grips the ball, especially when it is wet. It scuffs the balls like no other club on every full shot, fyi.

My 64 was a god-send. Use a 60 vokey bent to 62 now, would kill for a 64 vokey tho. I never ever hit full shots 100y & in. The 64 is in no way at all a distance filler, it is a trejectory filler. Also I often deloft my wedges very much in my stance so a 64 plays lower to me, but it is great for me to be able to play a 64 also. On extremly fast greens it is a killer, on really steep hills it is a killer, over high trees it is a killer & from really steep sand traps it is a killer. My 64 (62 now) is one of the clubs I use most often.

No easy answer ^^ In the end, it all boils down to what you prefer & what gives you confidence. But it all depends on a number of factors. How long do you hit your driver? How well & consistent do you hit it? How big is your distance gap from 3h to your driver? How do the courses you play at look? How often do you use which clubs at them? At some courses long irons dominate, while others you only need a driver, the 6 iron & wedges. I'd say start from the green & back as well as working to not working. Happy with putter? 1/2 of your game is here. Happy with wedges? The scoring sector. A good chip is a strokesaver. Happy with irons? The bread 'n' butter Happy with Hybrids? Well, the hybrids ^^ Happy with Driver/FW? Sounds like not. Happy with distance & distance gaps? Sounds like not. So fill your gap with what works. Be it irons for one, woods for another of hybrids for you. Should you learn to hit FW/driver? Hell yeah! But in due time. Focus on enjoying your game. That you do when it goes well, when you score. So if the hybrids work for you, go with them. If you get into trouble they also work better than the woods. At one point, you will have to learn to hit the driver in order to get starting distance, then the FW will come. Then you can decide if you like a #3/#5 FW in your bag. But in the end, make up your own mind. Don't take anyone elses advice over your gut feel, regardless of their HCP, position, claims or anything else.

In general - distance. 3w goes further than a 1h (15*ish). 1/2h(18*ish) can be hit easier & more riliable from more type of lies, ie fairway bunkers. W3 - distance H1/2 - Easier to hit & more versatile I1/2 - Accuracy & swing judge ^^

Switching back to long irons.
MyEyeSpy replied to GaijinGolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have no problem with 1i. No problem with hybrids either. But when it comes to accuracy, no hybrid I've tried gets close the irons. Besides, long irons are good for your swing ;) -
i2 for precision I say. Some can hit irons better, some woods, that usually settles it for them. Others keep both & change depending on conditions. Windy/calm/steep etc. I pick the i2 any day as I can place the ball in a way I can't with the wood.

I know Salming (famous hockey player) had this type of bent shaft with a number of patents for it, just a lot more than the picture, for his brand of floorball clubs & tried to get it into golf, with no success. Don't recall, but must have been 1996-8ish? There were quite a few arguments for it & it had moderate success in floorball but nearly none with golfers who were "too traditional". The company went bancrupt & haven't seen it since in any sport, til now that is.

true 56 is no longer, but I've bought a batch of floridas, hoping the i's will be as good or better when it arrives. As with clubs, it all comes down to taste at one point or another. But still, if one ask for advice on a clube for shaping shots, you will get lots of advices, but few will say Callaway Fusion Wide Sole or something like it, just as asking for a "n00b" set few will say CG1. Same reason for this thread, as a starting point on where to go, having basically only hit random balls when I started it. If you look back here, no-one said "take the solid balls, wow at the feel!". Strange eh? But basically the same balls show up that people like, though with different things to say about them. This can depend on what we feel we get response from, our equipment, the equipments material & inlays, belly putters or traditional ones, body build, "swing" etc.

After having tested every ball there is thouroughly: The winner is Callaway tour HX-56 With Titleist tour NXT finishing #2 shortly after.

I have a Tiffany, it performs better than my current one (ie spin right away, no score difference, but putting has never been an issue to me) but to me, it has no "feeling". That said, I have tried every putter on the market & the only one I really felt great feedback from is the one I switched to. A while I had both in my bag, but eventually I setlled on feedback. Still I keep it, torn between the two to some degree. I didn't like any of the others listed, but putters is really a personal thing, ignore what everyone else thinks. Go for one that makes you feel confident about & makes you feel the ball contact.

Could only find up to 60 on Ram's website

For some reason (can't be economics since every 1/3 has one ) very few companies make wedges above 60°. I have an anicent inherited 70° I used that is 20+ weighing a ton, begging to go into retirement. I'd love to have a set of CG12/14 or Nike blackie if they had one in the range of 64-70, but they only make them to 60 +-1/2 bending. Have been looking at most wedges & iron sets going into wedge land, but nearly all stop at 60, which is a mystery to me since so many wants & use them.. Anyway, a nobrander I've found that performs ok is Professional Open 690 64° (black also ^^). Anyone else knows of any other good 64+ wedges out there?

Are the New Cutting Edge Putters Any Good?
MyEyeSpy replied to RX Phoenix's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have a Never Crompromise GM2 #3. It is not quite as fugly as some of the new high end high tech ones but oh my god, the feel! I used a Yes! putter that really worked before, great spin right away as stated & great ball path, but zero feedback to me. The NC Gm2 #3 gives a perfect soft feedback feel when one hit the ball right, which is all I want from a putter. The hit inlay looks rather nice, overall really fugly boomerang club, no discussion about it. They make their series with a more traditional look, but I didn't get the same feedback, not same inlay. -
Tried out Titleist's balls the last few days. I expected to fall in love with Titleist PRO v1 from what I had read about it, but I was really outright dissapointed with it & the x1. Although I have nothing to complain about how it performed, it was really soft but not with great "feel" in my opinion. The best ball in regards to feel of the Titelist balls, in my opinion, was the NXT's, although feeling harder than the PRO, they generated far more "response" through the club. Will be trying out the Nike Platinums & Callaways hex series. Don't know of anyone selling/have the 330's in Sweden & don't really feel like importing.

I have been playing generic mid-class balls I have bought on sales before. But once I ran out & bought a handfull different ones at the club I noticed a tremendous difference in feel & control between them. What I am looking for is the "feeliest" ball. I'll be trying out a few in the coming days but would like some input. I don't care how long it goes, how durable it is or price. I want lots of spin so I can grind it to a halt on the green with the wedges, a soft responsive feel on the green & when approaching it. From what I have gathered two of the prime contestants are Titleist PRO v1 & Callaway HX Tour 56 (tour i now?). Any other suggestions? Input from people who have tried/played both for some time would be greatly appreciated. I know the the issue of best balls etc. it a topic that has been debated non-stop over & over here, but I don't really care about the best "overall" ball, just the most responsive, spinny & feely one.

What make of grips do you use?
MyEyeSpy replied to PutterHead's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
c through, great feel, great look. -
I had a set of Ping rapture hybrids, I was happy with them, but switched to a set of new 18, 21 & 24 Medic Synchron, which are godly. I have tried every hybrid on the market extensively, none come close to these. That they cost 1/10 of the ones I had was quite plesant, otherwise it use to be the other way around edit: Apollo shadow graphite hybrid shaft on all 3. Not top of the line, but that is not a question of money, I simply liked it. Was on the clubs I tried & the feels suprases the raptures.

Which one is easier to hit? Hybrid #2 or Wood #3?
MyEyeSpy replied to fusioncal's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I used rapture 18* but switched it for a Medic Synchron #3 (18*). Shaft length & type, head & all matters for which club it replaces but just wanted to state it as 18* can go for both i3 & i2, I use it as a replacement for both right now. With my rapture I nearly never missed, & with my Medic, I never miss (as close to never as one dear use the word in golf). I have never had a problem hitting with hybrids (18* & above, 18* took a little getting used to at first), but for #3 the result can vary quite considerably, never had #3 in my bag though, only had #5 & #7, only use #3 for practice. I say hybrid #2 is easier to hit. especially under non-optimal conditions. Much thanks to shorter shaft. -
I have tried them all, I'd pick the G10, actually I have a rapture myself. I'd take the G10, of these, because that is the one I hit most consistent with. The FT-5 was not far behind, but never liked the looks of it. Best way is to go try for yourself & make your own opinion. It is not like you pick the least worst of 3 shitty drivers because of $ If you have narrowed it down to these 3, I imagine that is just what you have done, so I doubt you will be misserable with either of them. But which one is THE one? That only you can answer I think. When I made my choose for the driver I narrowed it down to Synchron Medic (dirt cheap, but way up with the rest, might have taken it if it was not so fugly), CG Hibore XL, G10 & rapture. Ended up choosing between G10 & rapture, my own experince & the one from nearly everyone I have talked to is that the G10 is actually more forgiving than the rapture, some think the rapture gives better control of these 2. Only had the rapture a short time, but so far I have no regrets whatsoever. That said, the G10 & rapture are VERY alike, at least to me when I tested them. On a sidenote here, I have been eyeing G10/rapture & CG1 for my new iron set, between the G10 & rapture there, I actually liked the G10 more, much more. The Rapture set is to be the monster, but it felt the other way around with the irons & hybrids, for me (driver I liked rapture better). What it always boils down to, is that in the end, only YOUR opinion matters when it comes to your own clubselection. I think you will be happy with either one, you have 3 good choices, question is, which one is the best?
