Fl Golfer, I think the question that you really need to be asking yourself is this. "Am I improving to the point that I want to start and work the ball with my irons and feel is a prority...OR...do I need sweetspot and game improvement to help launch the ball high and hit more greens consistantly?"
Also, I get the impression that you are a younger dude...so I would think swing speed and flexibility standpoint...you should really NOT go to a "game improvement iron" because you have the ability to get the ball airborn easily. I know exactly what you mean about the i10's and the g10s. The G10 is great for a guy 50 years old and up or someone with a declining handicap that needs forgiveness. I think the i10's have a smaller sweetspot then their older brother the i5's...please swing the Ping i5 fitted to your body. They will give you the ease of the Rap/G5/G10 irons without the heavy offset look. I swung the g5's when I was shopping...they are VERY easy to hit...I understand what you are saying.
Also, please swing the new Cleveland cG4 Tour Reds or more game improvement Golds? I can not remember the number/letter combination, but the new cleveland irons with the dampining pad in the cavity is really nice, great feel and sweetspot....not as heavy offset, you will probably like how they look when you sit them down next to the ball.
Finally, recommendation...keep hitting irons over and over...don't buy too quickly.
