hehe well that makes me feel a little better that iam not the only one suffering from this.
-
you know that 80 was my best round since the last 6 months,so i should have been happy. but golf is a funny game, whatever one shoots, its never good enough :)
-
-1 going out, and i end up with a 80, +9 round! Its amazing how quick one goes from hot to cold :) Front 9 everything was great from driving to putting, back 9 everything was crap :) god help me

so i had a lesson yesterday. my line-up, set-up and backswing are great and need no work said the pro. but after that iam lost. it appears iam not turning my hip properly and getting my weight forward. iam just hopeless when it comes to the downswing and follow through. ball impact on the club is off the toe area and iam fighting to get it to move more towards the middle of the clubface. either i will turn my lower body too soon and cut accross the ball or leave it too late and block/hook the ball. I have a reverse C finish that is starting to wreck my back. :( are there any good drills for learning the downswing and follow though? PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE

ive always had a great backswing. nicely on plane. but after nearly 2 years of playing this game iam still clueless when it comes to the downswing. my downswing plane when looking from behind down-the-line will be above the backswing plane. Probably because i turn before doing anything with the arms. they say you got to drop your arms from the top into the slot to get on plane. so some of you good players 5 handicap and below. how do you start your downswing? what do you think about?

Muscle Pulls, Side Cramps, Bruised Ribs
barrycuda replied to zripp3's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
you wouldent have any broken ribs as these are real painful. what you prolly have is a cracked rib and or a pulled muscle in which case there is nothing you can do about it except bare the pain or stop playing sport till healed. -
i would like to take divots but i cant. im quite a big hitter with a nice high ball flight. most of the time i hit the ball off the fairway so cleanly you cant even tell where the ball was sitting on the grass lol incl short irons.
-
i mean mistake number 3 with the right heel coming off the ground. alot of pros do that go watch some swingvisions on youtube.
-
you already have a handicap of what 3.9? your plans are to play against tiger or what? :)

1. i can hit the wood off the deck as good as off a tee but not as often as its harder (probably a practise thing as only on the par 5 which is 3 times a round i need to hit off the deck) 2. irons off the tee are probably the same as off the fairway. 5. I dont top or chunk them but will hook or slice or hosel them. 6. I dont like the driver, just feels like the head is too big getting too much air resistance through the swing. My body and arms tend to be quick and the big driver head seems to fall behind causing a big slice or pop-up. 7. only got a 15 degree 3 wood. hit both well had more practise off tee so better off the tee than fairway.
-
yes i hit the irons they just spray all around the green or come up short, then im good with wedges and putting so often salvage a par. As for divots i dont take one very often. Sometimes i hit iron off the fairway and you wont even be able to tell where the ball was lol (and i make solid contact not topped or anything). But yeah more of a longer shallow divot pointing left, right or straight.
-
I pretty much only use my 3 wood off the tee and outdrive most of the people i play with who tee off with a driver. Probably hit 70% of the fairways yesterday with others still long but just in the rough, no problems there. Now the irons, how many greens did i hit? None! I absolutely got no feeling for irons. Swinging the 3wood just feels wonderful, but irons feel horrible. I will probably make contact with part of the hosel on the iron a couple of times per round. Im guessing my swing is too flat which is suited to woods but not for irons. Anything i could try to get my iron swing more up? thanks

6. slowing down at impact instead of accelerating.

how many rounds of golf has she played in her time so far? thousands? she should know that a golf card needs signing when you drop it off. dumb plain and simple.

was just wondering what the best way to check is if you are bent over the correct amount. you could be standing too tall, or too much spine angle (presuming your bending good from hips) how do i get it right when addressing the ball? i hit alot of blocks/pushes, and have a never ending battle with the shanks. even bigger battle trying to stop swinging outside-in. if i remember right last time i had a lesson i was not bending over enough. the pro also mentioned my right arm was getting blocked against my hip coming down into impact. does standing too tall result in blocks? am i rotating hips too soon? what sort of swing thought can i think of to stop doing that? handicap has taken a hammering lately, went from a index of 8.3 to a 12.5 in the space of 2 months! thx

How in the WORLD do I hit a FW off the ground?
barrycuda replied to gsu_paintballer's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
fairway wood off the deck is one of the hardest shots to learn. i know it was one of the last shots i had to master :) give it time and you will learn it. -
i think everybody has had their run-in with the shanks. there are alot of different reasons why this can happen. best fix is to get your swing taped and looked at by the coach. thats what i did last time i was struggling with this problem. the pro found that i was pointing my feet too far right of target, RH grip too strong combined with an outside-in swing.
-
id never leave my clubs at the golf club. although having a number for the keypad it can be abused too easily. ive heard of other members having stuff stolen. most of the time just 1 item like a wedge most commonly.

if i where betting my life savings then the money would be on tiger for the win :)

Hitting the Ball thin when chipping or pitching
barrycuda replied to Dsantor's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
get the majority of your weight on the front foot. -
closed stance is ok, it will make the ball draw thus getting more distance.but if your struggling with swinging outside-in like almost every other golfer then you risk shanking the ball from that set-up. take a look at the divots on the golf course next time you are playing. i bet you 8/10 divots point left of the flagstick, the odd good player will have it right along with the left handers. even myself i still have the dreaded outside-in swing. what is your most common ball flight? where do your divots point? what about fat shots, you make turf before ball contact?
-
also watch your alignment. feet pointing too far right of target combined with a outside-in swing will bring a shank into play.

Ball consistently striking the heel
barrycuda replied to CG031's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
3 things i do that causes a shank. 1. feet pointed too far right of target combined with an outside-in swing=shank. 2. taking the club too much inside on the takeaway=shank. 3. lunging and/or sliding on the downswing. make sure your not doing any of those mistakes. -
cant be a block to the left. blocks are to the right for right handers. if your pulling shots then you are swinging outside-in with a square clubface at impact. check your divot pointing left of the target to confirm this.

Zach Johnson US Open advice
barrycuda replied to InTheTwenties's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
this is for par 5's only im guessing. why bother if you can hit a good wood or hybrid then short chip/pitch.
