What's the most you've paid for a round of golf (all included)

East coast of North Island. Has a sister course (Kauri Cliffs) in the north of the North Island (Bay of Islands). Both owned by US businessman Julian Robertson. Hoping to get to play Kauri Cliffs at some point but would absolutely kill for another hit at Cape Kidnappers, kind of spoiled my 1st round by being ridiculously hung-over. -

Cape Kidnappers (New Zealand) a couple of years ago. $215 (off season price for locals). Worth every cent and more: Got it on a perfect day, no wind. Service was incredible, condition of course was beyond exceptional. Group of lads on a week long golf trip prior to a wedding. Stopped after 9 for food & beers (only about 2 to 3 other groups on the course that day). Tough course but an awesome experience. -
I currently use Titleist AP2 (710) irons. They are near the end of their life & I have the itch for a new set of irons. I've read a lot about the "soft" feel of the Mizuno MP64s. I've had a couple of sessions at the range with an MP64 (6 iron) & really wanted to like them. If they had been as good as all the reviews suggest I would probably have a set on the way from Mizuno right now. Problem is, they felt ok, but certainly no better than my current AP2's. Ball flight with the MP64s was a little better (lower) and I could definitely rely on a nice little draw, but overall the AP2s still felt better to me. The flushed shots with the MP64s did not feel any different to the AP2s. Mishits with MP64s definitely punished more than AP2s (not entirely a bad thing in my book). The MP64s did look gorgeous at address! Set up for the MP64 was the same as my AP2s - 2 deg upright & DGS300. Would be nice if I could have a hit off the turf to really see what the MP64s are like, but in the absence of that I'm struggling to see any improved feel in the MP64s over the AP2s. Anyone out there made the switch to MP-64s (from any other decent irons) & could you feel the difference? Did it take a while to get used to the MP64s? PS I don't want this to be a Titleist fanboy vs Mizuno fanboy thread, just want the info.

Rangefinder was the catalyst for me getting to know what my distances are, particularly wedges. I was a terrible wedge player, always air mailing greens ( I have poor depth perception). I carry 4 wedges & knowing the distances exactly now lets me hit plenty of greens. I also read Dave Pelz short game bible - didnt quite go to the extremes he advocates but settled for somewhere in between.

+ 1. Scott for my money played consistently the best. Acknowledged he didnt win though. Pity, I doubt theres a nicer guy out there.

Perhaps he was asked his opinion? Or is it because its Tiger no one else should comment..ever?

How many weeks did Norman sit at #1? I think he could justifiably claim to have been the dominant player of his period. I dont subscribe to the theory that winning majors is the be all and end all of judging a players career. Plenty of no names have won majors. Will they be remembered as great because of that? Nope. But no, I dont think Tiger is intimidated by Rory. The ego wouldnt allow it.

Mate I would say find a good pro & invest in some lessons. Acknowledge that 1 lesson wont be a cure all, get a lesson, work on what you're taught & when you feel comfortable with that change its time to head back for the next lesson. Get the building blocks right & better scores will follow.

Actually, to be fair and accurate, I did earlier state "forged ie bladed". My apologies for that, I do know better & that forged does NOT mean a club is a blade. My original point, not very well illustrated, is that I do not believe Titleist have engaged in false or misleading advertising re the AP2s. -

No,you have completely misunderstood my point. I am completely aware of the differences between forged and cast, neither of which indicates the club is a blade. My reference was to not wanting to play fully forged irons OR blades (not meaning they were one and the same). Hope thats cleared up. Where have I not acknowledged the difference between fully forged & the AP2? Seems like my earlier posts referred to multi material etc. Lets be really clear here so my point is not misunderstood, I dont think Titleist have deceived anyone by any advertising of the AP2. If anyone is foolish enough to spend a grand on a set of clubs because it has "forged" stamped on it then we have a whole new level of stupidity. Is anyone actually stupid enough to look at the AP2 and consider the whole of the club to be forged? No, and its not marketed as such IMO. -

100% agree with you on this. Nice to be in accord. I think people get confused between forged v cast and blade v game improvement. A forged club does not have to be a blade etc. -

Completely disagree. They are trying to offer something to those who dont want to play fully forged irons (or blades), with some forgiveness built in. Its just another offering and theres no point getting your panties in a twist becuase they tell people whats in the club (ie forged metal). All major golf companies offer various different irons to their customers (yes even Mizuno...). Go to the Titleist website & have a look at what the AP2 is constructed of then tell me why they shouldnt tell their customers "Titleist AP2 irons are advanced performance, multi-material irons that offer playability, the traditional solid feel of a forged iron and contemporary yet classic looks for the skilled to highly skilled golfer". -

Which "purists" are those? The ones who make a comfortable living on various tours who play these irons? Fair enough, the whole club is not made of forged steel (although the majority of it is), but these are hardly a "cheap way out". The price tag and resale value disproves that theory. And which items on the club are cast? If its just the steel sole I dont think you could say the rest of the club is cast. Dont forget Titleist also offer the MB and CB irons so they dont need a "cheap way out". As for feel, I play the AP2s & the feel is fantastic. As a 5 handicapper I dont feel that I strike the ball well enough to go back to the "forged" (ie bladed) irons (I have tried them & grew up playing them) so I doubt the feel would be any better. Maybe when I get a lot closer to scratch I'll give the forged blades a whirl, but until then I'm happy with the feel of my NOT FORGED AP2s. -
+1. Never played a course with prisms. Never had a problem with my rangefinder.

Have used both rangefinders & GPS. If you're serious about your game (particularly your short game) the rangefinder wins hands down, everytime. Wayyy more accurate. GPS gives an accuracy of about 10 feet (I accept that there are more & less accurate versions), the rangefinder is accurate to the yard. I used Golfshot GPS but got bored quickly, rangefinder tells me all I need to know.

Yep, have to agree to disagree on that one, the bulk of the club is forged metal. Yes its a cavity back & may have other materials (at the rear & sole of club) but the face is forged metal. Can you only advertise a club as "forged" if its 100% forged metal? Titleist website advertises/describes the AP2 as advanced performance, multi material irons. At the end of the day I think its geared toward those who cant/dont want to play "blades" and fits the bill nicely. I dont think Titleist place the AP2s in the same category as either the MB or CB irons, its just another product to offer and which also happens to have done pretty well for both the general public and many touring pros. -

So only the "bar" is forged? The same "bar" that is attached to the face and made of the same material? Last time I looked it was the face making contact with the ball. If Titleist's marketing this as a forged club is BS perhaps you could enlighten the masses why its not? Or are you suggesting that because its a " multi-material players cavity back iron" it couldnt possibly be described as forged? -
Hi. 4 iron is a 24 deg. Not sure why the extra distance / gap between 4 iron & hybrid, but when recently in the US I was hunting for a used 21 degree Titleist 910H so I could increase the loft a little. I play a links course right on the ocean and wind is a huge factor so distances often vary a bit too depending on wind direction.

I am in San Fran from June 10 to 19. I want to buy a Scotty Cameron putter (new) and a Titleist 910H hybrid (new or used). The only 2 stores I know of are Golfsmith in the city (Market Street) and GolfMart in south San Fran (Noor ave). I want to pretty much buy both clubs on the spot (ie not wait to be shipped from Titleist due to time constraints). Does anyone know which store would have the best selection of Scotty putters? Are either store likely to have used Titleist hybrids? I have tried sending messages (x3) to Golfmart via their website re availability of clubs but no replies. Any advice would be much appreciated.
