Recommendations for a New Driver???
JamesTucker replied to Tyson Sloan's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
have a look at golf redefined and see their choice. personally I'm a fan of taylormade and looking to try the R1 soon...but horses for courses as they say. given its adjustability you can get it set just for your swing so you are more consistent off the tee. distance will be helped too. -
Is the Golf Equipment Business one big scam?
JamesTucker replied to Rick Martin's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Absolutely agree - listen we are being marketed to all the time and the newer models are hyped. To be fair probably a bit over hyped but there is no doubt that the TM R1 for example will be a better club than the R11 (now 2 years old). Doesn't mean the the R11 isn't still an awesome club and that it cannot improve the driving accuracy of someone playing with an R7 for example. The latest technology all helps a little bit - bigger sweet spot, more forgiving etc.. but I agree we should all be hitting 1000 yards now if we believed the hype. But there is no question that certain drivers will suit certain styles and it will make a difference to your game. So absolutely give it a go - consider getting year old or 2 year old drivers if that is an upgrade over what you have now. Demo the clubs as much as you can. I've signed up with a crowd called golfredefined (golfredefined.com) to do just that - no buying a club - just a membership fee and they send whatever driver in the mail you want..swap it out for any other of your choosing at any stage. Beauty is that you can still try the older models too as well as the latest and greatest from TM, Ping, Titleist etc. So don't get too upset about the hype and marketing and just realize that there are small and subtle improvements each time a new model comes out. -

Just upgraded to Hole-In-One at GolfRedefined.com Right now I have a Callaway Razr Fit (9.5, stiff shaft) and going to try the Ping Anser (9.5, stiff shaft) next in a few weeks Lovely Christmas present to myself! -
Boy did I get that wrong! Tom Watson is a great choice though...will be interesting to see who the Europeans pick!

Where can you demo a brand new 2012 driver?
JamesTucker replied to TheGolfAdvisor's topic in Golf Talk
just actually received a ping anser from golfredefined and going to try the new 913 d3 in a couple of months from the same guys. they allow, for a relatively small monthly amount, the option to demo a whole range of top golf drivers on their site. great service so far and very happy with it. unfortunately they don't do irons or putters (yet!) but a great way to find out which driver suits you best. might be worth you checking it out. they also have an option which i did not go for but to just rent 2 or more top golf drivers on a short term rental so you can try them out... -
Need Some advice on new clubs
JamesTucker replied to GolfWorm's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
you might want to have a look at golf redefined.com as they have a great way to try out and demo different drivers. drivers only unfortunately right now but love the model. reminds me of netflix but just for drivers. maybe this will help with at least part of the decision - though you seem to want only irons - any update on your choice of irons? just got a set of tm rocketbladz myself and loving them so far along with trying out the new ping anser from the guys at golf redefined. goof luck! -
New TaylorMade Driver for 2013? the R13?
JamesTucker replied to JamesTucker's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Any updates??? -
So these are 2 of the new models out for 2013 and I am struggling to work out which one is better. I have traditionally been a Titleist fan but in my research so far thinking that the Ping might be worth a look. Very interested to hear which one you would go for? or if you have already had experience with one - well the Ping anyway...

Bubba Watson and Cheering...are we seeing a new trend?
JamesTucker replied to NathanGreen's topic in Golf Talk
Interesting point of view and I would tend to agree. I think the more noise the better - as long as it is respectful etc and not just taunting etc. The way it was done for Bubba was great! But I just think that it might descend into something less respectful if it became more commonplace -
I would tend to agree - but think it is no different to anything else. Psychologically we are risk averse I think and once we are comfortable with a brand we tend to stick with it unless an experience occurs that really force us to change. I think that is why you often see people on the teeboxes asking to use someone else's driver - we are curious whether some other brand works for us but we just cannot, at times, convince ourselves to change...

Where can you demo a brand new 2012 driver?
JamesTucker replied to TheGolfAdvisor's topic in Golf Talk
Probably a bit late to this thread but still relelvant to the new models that will come out in 2013. It hink the easiest thing is to go to the manufacturer demo days...ya you won't be able to compare and contrast with other clubs but you will at least be able to get a "feel for the club. I realize this is not as satisfactory as having a club and being able to play a bunch of rounds with it. That would be a neat solution. I sometimes ask friends who have new drivers etc. to borrow it for a few rounds just to see what it feels like. I'll be in the market again early next year for the newer models but not quite sure how I am going to decide which one to get. -
The biggest and the best I think...

How to select or demo the best drivers?
JamesTucker replied to JimMurphy99's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Saw a similar post to this at some stage and think the reason is that manufacturing process are never that exact - unless you are talking about expense to a ridiculous level...think you just need to go with something that "feels" right... -
New Driver Feels nothing like Demo! Why?
JamesTucker replied to onebigtwister's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well here's to always finding the "hot one". I tend to agree - there is no way all clubs can be made exactly alike. That is what is so important about being able to demo as many clubs and for as long as you need. Absolutely required! -
Insurance for Golf Clubs?
JamesTucker replied to JimMurphy99's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
I have some insurance under my home policy with StateFarm...not quite sure if they would do it as a stand alone...probably worth a call! Good luck -
New TaylorMade Driver for 2013? the R13?
JamesTucker posted a topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Just a quick thread to see whether anyone knows about the next iteration of driver from TaylorMade and whether it will be the R13? Any inside scoop? Thinking about changing from my R9 which is a bit dated but given there will be a whole new raft of driver models released early in 2013 thinking about hanging on...Love my TM... -
