  2. I really have to agree with you. Of course, anyone can play any ball and play well but when push comes to shove the Pro V1 is the gold standard. There simply is no other ball that performs like it. Overpriced? abso---friggin----lutely. I play at about an 8 using Callaway HX Hot...not a lot to work with around the green but overall they suit me. I have also played and loved the I(s) and the Chrome balls...all excellent... Bridgestone makes a fine series....getting back to Titleist....I find the NXT series overrated and certainly, like anything Titleist...over priced.
  3. facts are facts, if it disturbs you I'd suggest a therapy to deal with your demons.

I agree...and when will they ever broadcast a new "Feherty"?
  5. 1.) Masters (the true American National Championship), 2.) The Open (the one across the pond) and 3.) Can I say "Ryder Cup"? never watch the u.s. open, would rather watch a golf tournament. if I want to watch players hack and hope the ball down the fairway I'll go to the local municipal.
  6. getting a lot of attention for someone who can't seem to earn a tour card. fact is, if she wasn't name "woods" and white you wouldn't see one pixel spent of that tournament.
  7. whan could sell oil to arabs. In all of that text I think Tontj5 missed one very important thing....Whan sells the LPGA for what it is. It's not the PGA, it's not the Web.com Tour, its not the Champions Tour and all those efforts by the LPGA in the past to try and sell the quality of play on a level of any of the men's tours made them look ridiculous. Whan just sells some decent golf played by very good and congenial people that are very competitive with each other as entertainment and nothing more. He's done a hell of a job.
  8. You'll enjoy yourself tremendously and the advice you have received here is excellent. You will, indeed, be impressed by how hilly it is, and also how long. The chutes that many of the tee shots have to fly through (between the pines) are impressive. It is definitely a "big boy" golf course. I would suggest a few stops for you: 1) the practice area. it's huge and if you're there early you'll see everyone out there, including the hangers on...the harmons, etc. 2) get your photo taken in front of the clubhouse, and 3) get a good look at the members having lunch outside their private area, don't be surprised to see Arnie having a sandwich with Jack or something similar. Despite all of the animosity that so many in our society direct toward the ultra-wealthy, you'll be treated exceptionally well at Augusta National. You'll see member in their jackets amongst the regular folk and, not forgetting that these are incredibly high powered and rich people, they are friendly and helpful...willing to give directions, advice etc. The member who directs you to the 8th tee today may be having lunch with the President tomorrow.. I'll just quickly mention...the gift shop is reasonably priced...........the food is downright cheap ............ there is no running, you're expected to behave like a grown up at all times....you can leave your folding chair to go the john or grab a sandwich, and no one will bother it..........just an incredibly pleasant and memorable experience. To me, it was like going to church.
  9. very well done!
  10. played in recreational leagues with a max. of double par...thank God.
  11. my course has a Monday 2 man scramble event. my partner and I were sent out with a team of a 75 yr old and a 73 yr old. We combined for 8 or 9 under...they shot -15 ( front tees, no mulligans, no gimmees). they say your putting gets weaker as you grow older, well I don't think either one of those guys missed one inside ten ft.

I guess the dropped the "The" to make is sound more important...fact is everyone calls it THE golf channel, even the tour pros, so all of the money they spent rebranding has been one huge waste. I continue to use it just because it somehow makes me able to remind them they aren't what they think they are or should be. Not a good reason I know, but my way of telling them to step it up. I look at the THE golf channel as a failure in realizing potential. The infusion of NBC has helped a lot, but until they really clean house.....Tighlman, Lerner, Isenhower, the entire crew of morning drive they really aren't much better than the local stations covering high school basketball. Some real pros are needed, currently they're populated by a collection of wannabees.

he's not so much the problem as the bias and drooling on the TGC set, mostly by Kelly and Slow Lerner. I used to watch all of Golf Central, it comes on at 5:00 p.m. here...now I wait until 5:20 or so....the Tiger butt kissing adoration period is usually over by then, though not always. The last ten minutes or so are decent.

from the looks of her eyes, I'm guessing alcohol.
  16. I have a RBZ 4 Rescue and have the same hooking issue. No doubt, the ball just screams off the club so I've spent a long time trying to figure it out but I'm giving up. I can hit wonderful shots, but I just don't know what's going to happen each time I pull it. I now have an Adams 5 wood and a couple of Adams hybrids to cover the 190 - 225 range. I wish I could help you, I can only empathize. Bought the thing because I always love the old R7 rescues and thought it would be similar. Wrong.
  17. just to note, I carry Phil Rogers designed Cobra wedges, they're old but there is almost no bounce and the flange has been ground with many angle (find one on google image and you'll get a better idea). I got into these because of two problems...one, I simply don't want or need all of that bounce in my wedges and prefer the variety of shots you can pull off without all that stuff getting in the way. (Think Phil Mickelson, he has no bounce on his wedges, Feherty says you could shave with them). The other, I prefer a more balance club, wedges with extremely heavy heads are more difficult to control. One is a 53 deg wedge that can be hit in many ways and for many shots...don't fear bending to get the loft you need. Though you have the C grind, others reading hear may not...flanges can be ground too to remove of modify the bounce.
  18. the place is loaded with water moccasins...don't wander off into the grass to far...it's ruin your round.
  19. I would think that you have a decent chance of playing somewhere, but much too early to predict the level. So I think you're question has been answered, those or very decent numbers for a 15 yr old. I will warn you though, you have to keep progressing and playing well against good tournament competition. You remind me of my nephew who shot similar scores as a freshman, improved and played fairly well in the state tournament as a sophomore..then had two miserable years as a junior and senior. Some of that can be blamed on two miserable springs I suppose but I really think potential golfers are identified in summer tournament play. He was rather inconsistent in that. He did get a few offers to play junior college but the only 4 yr school was D2 (about the right level for him). what I'm saying is, a lot can happen in just three years. It was sort of a sad ending, after not making the traveling team he dropped out and is now cutting grass for a living and taking one or two courses at the local JC. BUT...the kid can play. He's now 20 and still has a chance if he wants to work at it. you will get longer as you grow and with those additional years of instruction. don't worry about that, besides you seem to have a leg up on the hardest and most important part of the game..the short game. Gaining length off the tee is a heck of a lot easier to improve. Besides the instruction and practice time, you really need to play as many summer junior tournaments as you can in your area and good regional tournaments. You may struggle a bit at first, but you'll probably find a way to improve and maybe even work yourself into the mix drawing attention from college coaches who are all over those things. Finally, it really doesn't matter what level you play at in college, if that is a concern. You play the same courses and often D2 or D3 schools are knocking heads against the big boys so you can get your chance to play any higher level player. I'd suggest you not worry about the level, but concern yourself more with your education finding a school that meets your academic and professional plans. Somewhere that you feel comfortable and will enjoy your college days. Part of that enjoyment can be playing for the Ol' Alma Mater, regardless of where it is or what level. Good luck and if you're serious, don't give up, put the time and effort in..PLUS MORE.... you don't want to be forty years old and wondering "what if".
  20. Titleist Bulls Eye Putter (John Reuter, mid to late 60s) and all of my wedges of Cobra Phil Rogers types (multi bounce....which is really almost zero bounce...flange design).

It seems like THE golf channel has about three commercials and play them in a loop about every forty five seconds ad nauseum. ok, enough....Stacey's mom has got it going on.

Chamblee, typically hated BY TW apologists..............sorry I need to proofread. I love Feherty, but admit that I must carefully manage the dosage. Speaking of Feherty, who would you like to see him feature? Some that come to my mind are: Laura Davies, Peter Thompson, Sam Torrance, Bill Murray and Darren Clarke.

AMEN! to: "model with makeup applied like spackling paste", bronzer, boobs comment. I simply can't stand to have Morning Drive on my set. I can take Charlie, he is what he is and makes no effort to be anything else. I'd like to see Jeff Rude back Breed...not my cup of tee, but a channel can't be all things to all people. (but what's with the friggin yelling all the time?" Chamblee....knows more about golf than everybody else on the network (excepting Nobilo) combined. Rubs some the wrong way but they can almost never point to anything he's wrong about and typically hated TW apologist. School of Golf......keep it, won't be on my TV but, again, not everything is going to be golden. Tripp..... sort of goofy, maybe a Charlie Rhymer without the accent.

also, someone mentioned the European Tour coverage....excellent. The calm and thoughtful commentators along with the distinct lack of hype is something I enjoy.
