Shot at the local course up here. Not a bad course, but not fantastic either. Was pretty happy with my front nine. I shot a 50 on a par 36 and actually had two par holes. I even had a birdie putt from 4 feet that I missed and turned it into one of my pars. I was planning on leaving after 9, but when I came back around (there are only nine holes on the course) a guy at the first tee asked if I wanted to go another round. So I played another nine and it all went to hell.
I shot 55 through 7 holes, then it got too dark to finish. Started slicing my drive all over the course, losing balls, etc. I do think that the second round was probably a better indication of my actual ability right now though. I got a lot of lucky rolls on my first nine. Although I didn't have anywhere near as many penalty strokes either.
All in all I was fairly happy with it. Shot better than I thought I would the first go round and got a chance to play a round with someone I'd never met before who turned out to be a great guy. I'm sure we'll play quite a few rounds together this year. That to me was probably worth more than how I shot.
