Ok guys I was at the golf show yesterday and picked up some info from a private course in my area. Highland golf club They are less than a mile from where I work and about 25 minutes from home. They have a spring membership drive in which the $2500 initation fee is waived. They also have a new membership class this year as young adult. (19-30) It runs $155 a month for the full year. There is also a food and beverage minimum of $50 a month from april through october. Does not include locker rental or bag storage. $50/yr locker $75/yr bag Unlimited driving range use is also included with the membership. Now this sounds like a pretty good deal to me. There are public courses around here that are asking $1200-$1500 a year and no preferred tee times. Just wondering if this is a good deal? How are private memberships in your area?

Looks like he just snuck in on the cut line. I'd like to say he hit some good shots but I don't know espn showed him hit about 2 shots all together I think. (sorry still a bit bitter on espn's coverage) I hope he has a good tournament and can get back in the swing of things. I really would love to see him take those friggin sun glasses off once in a while though. Hard to really see a players emotions when their behind the shades.

You've got to be kidding me. They quit the coverage with only a few shots left and go to sports center. These guys are a disgrace to golf coverage. Ok Wie is the big story and deserves some coverage but come on. Villegas has the best round of the tournament (64) and we got to see what about half a dozen of his shots. He played with Wie so the cameras were there. Why not show someone who can actually contend? Who else played with Wie? Did you see any shots he hit? Chris Couch by the way. He played just as bad as Wie lets at least see him hit something. I loved the tee shot on 18 that Villegas hit. The cameras never found it. Never did see where it went because they cut the coverage. Furyk got alot of attention which is understood but who else played with him? Mike Wier and Jason Gore. We saw what about one shot from each of them. Jason Gore is the biggest cinderalla story of last year and a crowd favorite. Why no coverage. What about wier is he not worthy of tv coverage? 2 1/2 hours of coverage and we probably saw less than 20 golfers hit shots. This is not acceptable to me. I hope espn never covers another golfing event in my life. Sorry to rant but this is ridiculous.

I saw that auction for 2499 last night. Guy must be crazy. Sad part is there is probably someone out there crazy enough to pay it. That would be pretty good return on your money though.

Well managed to get out again today. Pretty amazing for Jan. in Ohio. Was about 55 degrees today. I was going to stop at the course right by work but it was packed so I opted for a lesser played 9 holer down the road. 5 bucks to walk. Only other option would have been a boat. It was sloppy, soggy mud all they way around. Not really my idea of a good time but hey its golf in jan in ohio can't complain too much. After hitting my tee shot on the first hole and seeing a huge splash of water in the center of the fairway I knew it wasn't going to be good. I went ahead and hit another tee ball on the first hole and tried to play to a "drier" area of the fairway. Lost both. Looked for a good 10 minutes and couldn't find either one. About turned around and left but figured it may be good practice from the slop. Hit some good shots overall. Had to be carefull with the wedges or you'd get a facefull of water and mud every time. They have a short par 4 there that typically plays about 290. It was playing with the wind and again I hit two drives. Both found the green and plugged like you wouldn't believe. (I took some pics with the camera phone. I'll have to see how they look and see if i can get them up.) Had to use the divot tool to get one of the balls out. Sure wasn't a scoring round but it was fun to slop it around. Oh yeah wife wasn't too happy with the couple inches of mud up the bottom of the jeans either.

Thats abousolutely amazing. Its good to see him give back to the community and the kids with the tiger woods foundation and with the first tee program. Its pretty easy to be envious of someone like that.

Thanks for the article Everardo. http://thesandtrap.com/archives/pga/...agreements.php Now personally after watching the first day of espn's second golf tournament of the year I'm glad they are out. Their coverage drives me crazy. In the first hour we spent more time watching the announcers than getting to see actual golf. Did they ever show the full field leaderboard? Everyone I saw was about 2 pages and maybe 25 golfers. Golfers want to watch golf. After every commercial we do not need 5 minutes of Wie's 9 over round. How about having a camera crew that can follow the golf ball. When appleby was hitting from out of the trees once the cameraman completely lost the ball and had to wait for the crowd to start pointing it out before they found it. There was at least one other similar incident but I don't remember exactly. Sorry but espn likes to talk sports. So keep talking and leave the filming up to someone who will actually show it.

Man sorry to hear about that bad experience. I've been highly contemplating getting fitted for the past year or so. I've been reluctant to go to a retail shop for the reasons mentioned above. Now I'm only about 5 minutes away from the golfworks so I think thats where I may be headed. Hopefully the experience will be much better.

Great article in golf digest this month with morgan pressel. She states the same sentiments as almost everyone here has mentioned already.

Mine came on mon or tue as well.

Well I can understand his frustration but I love to see the tour players work to have good rounds. Was it not about 3 years ago or so when ernie els set a record pga low score at that course. (-31) At that point players were asking for more of a challenge. Well now they got it and they still complain. After that comment I don't anticipate him to play all that great this week espically if its still windy.
-
Well kenny perry is off my list for the week. Here is a quote from after the tournament last week. I'm going out on a limb with my picks this week. It may pay off big or it may kill me. We'll see though.

Well I kind of think its a good idea to have a golf channel cover the tournaments. Who would have better connections to get some great announcers. I think it should be a good move.
-
Looks like the golf channel is in. Should be pretty dang good for them. I'm sure some will be upset about it because the golf channel is not a standard channel on alot of cable and satellite providers. Wonder if thats going to hurt the ratings any? I know my grandparents occasionaly watch some golf but they will not pay extra on their satellite to get it. from the golf channel full article http://www.thegolfchannel.com/core.a...1&select;=18348

Anyone ever try one of the slighter putters yet. They look pretty comparable to a cameron but I've never used one so can't say. Looks like some pretty nice stuff though. http://www.slightergolf.com/

Welcome aboard. I've not been here long but I enjoy the site. There are alot of good people here willing to help. Glad you found it. Enjoy.

I'm surprised that no one has really mentioned the tv coverage. I was highly disappointed in espn's coverage of the tournament. Seems they only showed about the top 5 guys the whole tournament. Now I know you show the leaders but I still like to see everyone else thats in the field as well. How many times did you see them show kenny perry hitting golf shots. What about fred funk or mark Calcavecchia? Granted they may not have played well but I'd still like to see them a little bit. just my 2 cents

I'm sure there has got to be at least one course in your area that is open all year. I live in ohio and we have a few courses that are open year round even though the majority of winter is unplayable. Today I really wish I'd have gone out. Was up in the 50's and partly cloudy. Had a b-day party for the mother in law early this afternoon so couldn't make it. mrslice congrats on getting out for the first time in 8 months. 13 over doesn't sound to shabby for being away that long.
-
How about you buy it today for $169 with no membership included. Hey I'm not making this up. See for yourself. Super Scotty Deal Sounds like a bargin to me.
-
I've always thought the same thing. Always appears its shot straight right sometimes. I'd guess it's just camera angle and perception. I suppose it could be the way the camera lens captures the speed of the ball from certain angles as well.
-
Can't say I've ever tried them. http://www.greenspikes.com/index.htm Sounds interesting though. I know I'm usually pretty hard on spikes so it would be interesting to see how these hold up. I'm highly considering trying out the new spikeless shoes from etonic. http://www.etonic.com/golf/golf_shoe...ct.php?ID=gsok

I think you'll be ok with gore. Glad to see the first 9 of year though that was pretty good. The he plays he'll probably go out and shoot 62 today.
